Robdgreatyeah01:24
RobdgreatI had it on my desktop01:24
haz3lnutor even better, install colinux and have a pure linux/bash shell01:24
Robdgreatcurrently I only run linux on my server01:24
Robdgreathmmm.01:24
Robdgreatthis is intriguing to me01:24
Robdgreatactually, colinux I know I've heard of before, it's just been flippin' ages01:25
haz3lnutI was running colinux years ago, and it was instrumental in me completely moving to linux01:25
haz3lnutI run ubuntu now exclusively at home and at work,01:25
haz3lnuteven got wife and daughter on ubuntu.01:26
Robdgreatyeah, I used ubuntu exclusively until I got my current desktop01:26
haz3lnutbah01:26
haz3lnutI'm sure colinux runs on W7...at least pretty sure :-)01:27

haz3lnutSo there really is no more louisiana loco.01:32
haz3lnutespecially if the main channel op is running windows at home.  We're doomed.01:33
Robdgreatheh.01:36
haz3lnutI suck at organization. But I wonder how we can revive.01:37
haz3lnutOr if there is any interest.01:37
RobdgreatI'm game01:37
haz3lnutTHere has to be more than 3 or 4 guys in a state of 4 million who are interested.01:38
Robdgreatand who use irc01:39
Robdgreatyou know irc is awesome, and I know it is, but many do not01:39
haz3lnutI remember back in 06/07 I was on a rampage about netflix.  I was trying to stir an action on netflix to support linux, but everything I tried here, in other channels and elswhere seemed to fall on deaf ears.01:40
Robdgreatand in the end they are on silverlight01:40
Robdgreat:(01:40
haz3lnutI gave that up, but my failed efforts eventually lead to me logging off of irc for quite some time.01:41

=== haz3lnut is now known as haz3lnut_zzz
haz3lnutevening22:17
Robdgreathowdy22:25
haz3lnutpeculiar action happened to me yesterday. I was capturing a stream from my hdhomerun, and I thought it was finished so I moved the file to another dir and tried to edit it, but it crapped out.  Then I discovered it was still being written to and growing after I moved the file!22:28
haz3lnutn the past, that stream would have been lost.  But I ended up with the whole stream captured.22:28
haz3lnutexplanation?22:29
Robdgreathm22:36
RobdgreatI don't know22:47
haz3lnutsee if you think this is plausible:22:47
haz3lnutif the mv data rate was just a little slower than the stream capture rate, then the mv never completed until the whole capture was done?22:48
haz3lnutseems unlinkely22:48
haz3lnutor does the mv command stay alive if it sees more data entering the old file?  seems strange.22:49
RobdgreatI don't actually know the mechanics of mv22:50
haz3lnutor the os is somehow smart now, and "knew" I moved the file, so it transfered the stream operation to the new file?  more strangeness.22:50
haz3lnutI'm really curious about this.22:51
Robdgreatthat one does seem unlikely22:51
haz3lnutgot my explanation:23:21
haz3lnutt's normal behavior. Unless you moved the file to another filesystem, only the directory entry was modified, the open file was still the same from point of view of the program writing to it.23:22
