asix3hello!00:16
asix3can anyone help me to get chromium to stop crashing when showing youtube videos?00:17
MrChrisDruif!flash00:39
ubottuTo install Flash see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/Flash - See also  !Restricted and !Gnash00:39
MrChrisDruifHmm00:39
MrChrisDruifI don't know. I could always be a hardware issue. But I'm not very good at support00:39
asix3!Gnash00:40
ubottuGnash is an open-source Flash replacement. It is still beta software. For current status or for more info http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash/00:40
asix3will Gnash conflict with flash? I know I have flash installed already00:40
MrChrisDruifYou'd have to use either one00:42
MrChrisDruifThat is something I do know00:43
asix3well flash works just fine in firefox, so I don't think it's a hardware thing. Flash also worked in chromium when I was running ubuntu 10.<somethingICantRemember>00:44
asix3another wrinkle. video's play when I'm on youtube.com, but embedded videos on other sites result in the Aw, snap! page00:45
GrafeitHello, I am doing a current events project for a class of mine, and I was hoping to get some advice on lubuntu.02:18
GrafeitI must do a current events project on Operating Systems, I need to know how the OS does file management, device management, memory management, application management.02:19

pmatulisis the LSC supposed to be working on 12.04?12:36
tataI have Lubuntu 10.04 and VIA chepset, how to improve video driver because default driver is not good?14:41
OlMightyGhi15:41
OlMightyGHow can I set my lubuntu to show mounted devices on the desktop? can anyone help please?15:42
holsteinOlMightyG: i would try http://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=8616:13
nicofsHow do I set up the default session that is started at boot?16:17
OlMightyGholstein: just install thunar?16:25
nicofsor alternatively: where else could i go for help?16:26
holsteinOlMightyG: i have not tried to show those icons in LXDE.. i tend to try and stay close to the defaults. or at least start with the environment that works best for me out of the box16:26
holsteinOlMightyG: i find that by the time i make LXDE more like XFCE (or whatever) that its not really light-weight anymore16:26
OlMightyGso i shold try xubuntu hehe16:26
DarthBradyyou could try the lubuntu mailing list, or the lubuntu one stop thread in the lubuntu forums. I'm new to lubuntu as well, or I could probably be a better help.16:26
holsteinnicofs: what are you wanting to do?... what customizations?16:27
OlMightyGi just messed up the testing-system... great.16:27
OlMightyGwhats the difference between xfce and lxde?16:28
DarthBradyxubuntu is nice, but i prefer the simplicity of Lubuntu, and it's setup with LXDE/Openbox16:28
DarthBradybut i use a slow latop too, so lubuntu is a little faster for me16:28
MrChrisDruifWhat's going on here?16:29
OlMightyGyes. until now ive installed lubunut with nautilus to achieve the symbol-thing...16:29
nicofsholstein, when i start my computer, the wrong session is loaded... I want "Lubuntu Desktop", but xsession tries (and fails) to start "Xubuntu Desktop" which is not installed and then, after i press "ok" starts some LXDE session...16:29
holsteinnicofs: i had a few errors like that.. i ended up just leaving both LXDE and XFCE installed16:30
OlMightyGbut now i tried the new version and recognized that pcmanfm can deal smb-mounts now. but it does not show them on the desktop16:30
nicofsholstein, not an option... i only have 4GB of HDD... i need every MB I can save...16:31
OlMightyGnicofs: i guess you have to correct some entries in some files in the lxsession-folder16:32
OlMightyGhad a similar problem....16:32
OlMightyGbut i dont know exactly how i fixed it.. long tome ago16:32
holsteinnicofs: ok.. i couldnt track down what was missing or needed.. other than resintalling, you should likely just look through what is/was installed.. you can try another user accoung for troubleshooting.. you can try pure-lxde16:32
nicofsOlMightyG, i figured that out aswell... but which files... that's the question...16:33
OlMightyGhm.. sorry.. i cant remember. but i remember that ive googled it16:35
nicofshmm.. have been googling for some days now... maybe i used the wrong words...16:40
MrChrisDruifnicofs; if you need every byte you can get, why install a gui?16:45
OlMightyGdo you have lxsession installed?16:47
x3oohi, how do i install lubuntu onto a sdcard16:59
KM0201how do you do it?17:01
KM0201just choose the SDcard as the target drive.17:01
DarthBradyreaaly? it's that easy? I should try it then.17:02
MrChrisDruifDarthBrady; and how is it going with the SD-card?18:08
DarthBradyI cant find my SD Cards, I think I left them in my locker at work, so it hasn't gone anywhere today :(18:25
MrChrisDruifThat's to bad18:26
DarthBradyi have a 1G  micro sd laying here, i suppose i could try that if it's not too small, but i wasn't sure it if is.18:27
MrChrisDruifHmm, not sure DarthBrady18:28
MrChrisDruifMaybe try with the minimal install then?18:28
DarthBradyi might18:29
MrChrisDruifand the --no-install-recommends lubuntu-desktop ?18:29
phillwor even slimmer, lubuntu-core. I think you will need more than 1G for lubuntu though :/18:29
KM0201MrChrisDruif: it doesn't install any recommended junk18:30
KM0201no.. 1gig should do it i would think18:30
DarthBradyi'll try it later and see how it goes18:31
MrChrisDruifYou could check installed size on packages.ubuntu.com I think18:32
MrChrisDruifKM0201; I know, that is why I suggested it18:33
phillwdo report back how you get on. I'm curious to know just how slim the 'low-fat' version(s) of lubuntu are :)18:33
DarthBradywell i just popped the lubuntu install disc in, it asks for 4.1GB by default18:33
phillwDarthBrady: that is Ubiquity installer, there is an ongoing discussion about it.18:34
MrChrisDruifDarthBrady; A known issue18:34
DarthBradyAh, I see. I always installed to a blank hdd with plenty of room, I never even paid attention to the required space needed as I wasn't worried about disc space ;)18:36
DarthBradyrequired RAM and the speed I get from it were my concerns, and Lubuntu works very well with in those departments. But I will try it sometime this week when i get time to play with it. I have wanted a good USB/SD version for a while now...18:37
phillwDarthBrady: use alternate / mini install. For lubuntu we consider the 4.1GB default to be a 'bug', but it is there for 'main' ubuntu to stave off 2.3GB hell where it would install and leave no space for user data.19:29
MrChrisDruifI'd go with mini19:31
phillwMrChrisDruif: for a 1GB SD, that is a +1 from me!19:33
phillwthen try ubuntu core to see if we can manage it :)19:33
phillws/ubuntu/lubuntu19:35
MrChrisDruifI was wondering ^_^19:37
venik212my wireless cuts out frequently on my Thinkpad t43p running Lubuntu 11.1021:12
venik212How do I start it up again?21:12
venik212it is the notorious Intel ipw220021:13
phillwvenik212: we use the standard WiFi system. head over to http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=336 They do work miracles over there :)21:14
venik212their solution is to install the Windows driver, which works fine on this hardware, but which I was unable to install using Lubuntu21:16
venik212XP never looked better... ;-(21:17
MrChrisDruif!wifi21:18
ubottuWireless documentation, including how-to guides and troubleshooting information, can be found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs21:18
venik212I actually did install the Windows driver, but Lubuntu insisted on overwriting it with the ipw2200 junk21:18
