philipballew_pleia2, I or someone needs to change the topic here for the next meeting.21:40
philipballew_I dont have ops to do that really...21:40
=== ChanServ changed the topic of #ubuntu-us-ca to: Welcome to the Ubuntu California Local Community (LoCo) Team! | Website: http://ubuntu-california.org (has links to mailing list, forum, and more!) | Next Meeting: Sunday, April 8th, 7:00pm PDT | This channel is publicly logged at irclogs.ubuntu.com | We have an unlogged channel at #ubuntu-us-ca-offtopic
pleia2philipballew: thanks! the forums links are broken though (it copied over ... directly, rather than the full links working), can you edit to fix those up when you have a chance?23:12
philipballewi have a bit now. let see whats up23:13
pleia2otherwise looks great23:13
philipballewI should really use ubuntu forms more instead of spending hours swearing at my problems. looks like a really helpful place23:14
pleia2it is, but don't use their search (it's not very good), use google and do: site:ubuntuforums.org blah blah my problem23:15
philipballewI wonder what is better, that or askubuntu. I know all the buzz is around askubuntu these days, but more people might go to the forms as its been around longer23:18
philipballewyeah, I know we all have our opinions23:19
pleia2askubuntu is tiny compared to ubuntuforums.org23:21
pleia2thousands of accounts compared to millions23:22
* philipballew wonders how long till they change to the new ubuntu design23:25
pleia2soon, an upgrade to the forums has been in the works for 2 years now, including a new theme23:28
pleia2there have been a lot of barriers because the software itself wasn't quite built to scale to 2 million users, and Mark has been insisting that it require openid support, which has to be wedged in and they lacked the developers for it23:28
pleia2they finally have a test instance up with the new version, and one of the devs made a breakthrough last week openid-wise :)23:29
philipballewnice! the community is really helping these days23:34
pleia2ubuntuforums.org is an entirely community-run effort, except for hosting itself which canonical has donated23:35
pleia2to be honest, much of this upgrade waiting has been waiting for canonical to do stuff :\23:35
philipballewpleia2, sometimes it seems we wait on them a fair amount23:46
pleia2yeah, but they've gotten better so I can't complain a whole lot23:47
philipballewagreed. There very nice.23:48
