[13:12] <chris_> well two things, i cant get my wireless to work and my sound isnt working
[13:13] <chris_> my wireless used to work when i had a different distro of linux installed as well as the sound but now the sound is not working and i can only connect with a wired connection

[13:14] <chris_> im running lubuntu and im not sure of the wireless card. How do i find out what type of card im running in terminal?
[13:15] <chris_> i know lubuntu is a slimmed down version of ubuntu but i cant find help anywhere else
[13:18] <brousch> run this at the command prompt:
[13:18] <brousch> lshw -C network
[13:18] <brousch> that will get a lot of info about your network devices
[13:20] <chris_> BCM4311 802.11b/g WLAN
[13:26] <brousch> ok, try this at the command line:
[13:26] <brousch> sudo modprobe b43
[13:28] <brousch> i see a lot of other people with similar issues, but haven't found a fix yet
[13:28] <brousch> any particular reason you're using lubuntu?
[13:36] <chris_> because when i was running the newest version of ubuntu is was laggin my machine and someone suggested lubuntu
[13:37] <brousch> it is fast
[13:38] <chris_> wait a second now, it looked like it didnt do anything in terminal but i just looked down and my wireless button came on
[13:40] <chris_> but now it isnt picking up any networks
[13:42] <brousch> hm
[13:43] <chris_> yeah its weird, my phone connects to my wireless but my machine isnt
[13:46] <chris_> for some reason it is not populating a list of wireless connections
