astraljavaHi gang, I got a request for updating abiword's translations, as there appears to be updates for them since the current snapshot from sources that we have in precise. I'm new to updating translations, so what would be the process to follow in such cases? And is it right that the translations freeze isn't on, yet? (according to the release schedule, or am I reading it wrong?)17:09
astraljavaWell, _I_ didn't get the request, but rather Xubuntu Team did.17:09
jbicha_astraljava: we're in sync with Debian's abiword, so you probably should contact the Debian maintainer about that17:40
jbicha_oh I guess we're not going to be in complete sync with Debian since their latest packaging has made the libpng15 transition17:43

astraljavajbicha_: Ok, so does that mean I should in fact just update the translations without Debian maintainer's consent? I'm not exactly sure how maintainable that would be, but I'd also want more complete translations into precise, as it's an LTS release after all.17:56
jbicha_astraljava: my opinion is that Debian should pull the latest translations, we in Ubuntu can then sync from Debian but we need to replace the libpng-dev build-depend with libpng12-dev18:02
astraljavajbicha_: Ok. What are your thoughts about doing that this late in the cycle?18:09
jbicha_astraljava: ideally we wouldn't be using git snapshots for an LTS, translations & bugfixes are good, but major code changes won't be18:18
astraljavajbicha_: That's my understanding, too. So updating the translations would be creating a debdiff on po/ directory from the sources? Or what would be the right way to do it?18:22
jbicha_astraljava: yes that sounds fine, or you could ask the Debian maintainer if a newer git snapshot would be safe too18:24
astraljavajbicha_: Ok, I'll go email the maintainer first. Thanks for your help!18:25

mfischhey masters, what's the typical ETA on a dput?  It's been over 7 hours and I have no email not a published package22:06
mfischI expect at least a "fail" email22:06
ajmitchdput to where?22:07
mfischsorry, dput to a personal PPA22:08
ajmitchyou'll want to check with #launchpad then22:09
mfischajmitch: got it, thanks22:09
ajmitchit ought to be a matter of minutes22:09
mfischajmitch: it certainly is for my day job22:10
mfischso apparently LP won't accept my unsigned packages23:15
mfischis there a way to sign a package as myself even though I'm not in the changelog?23:15
psusiwhy aren't you in the changelog?23:16
mfischpsusi: just doing a favor for jono, helping him package something, and I want to try it from my ppa first23:16
mfischpsusi: if it's required, I'll add myself23:16
psusiI think it is required, so yea, just add an entry for yourself23:17
mfischpsusi: I hope that's not considered stealing credit, that's what I was trying to avoid23:17
psusidepends on what the entry says... you can just say you are uploading it to your ppa23:18
mfischpsusi: then I'll leave it as-is in bzr23:18
mfischpsusi: thanks23:19
ajmitchmfisch: you can pass the key id you want to sign with to debuild (or bzr-buildpackage)23:29
