[14:32] <IvanFetch> AlanBell: Yes, since I installed the same image successfully in to a virtual machine, the issue must relate to my Netbook hardware - an EEPC Asus 1005-PEB.
[14:32] <IvanFetch> I did already try disabling the onboard wired NIC (believed to be broadcom) - same result. I will keep looking.
