astraljavaI asked on #xfce-dev, in hopes that Jannis will see it and have some ideas (he's co-author for volumed), but I dunno. I'll sleep on it now, maybe I figure something out in my sleep. :)00:00
ScottLmicahg, i've updated the following packages:00:53
ScottL1. precise seeds00:53
ScottL2. ubuntustudio-default-settings00:53
ScottL3. ubuntustudio-lightdm-theme00:54
ScottL 00:54
ScottLactaully #3 was updated a month ago or so but was never uploaded to the repos00:54
ScottL(and i apologize because i ran two updates together in my bzr commit for -defautl-settings)00:55
ScottLthey aren't vast or pervasive, but it was still two updates in a single bzr commit00:55
ScottLping me if needed, i'll be around the house doing other stuff00:55
ScottL(and quietly brewing over the crap going on at the office)00:55
frewsxcvis cory kantros still part of the team?02:21
ScottLfrewsxcv, not really02:24
ScottLhe did some work during the last cycle but has not been part of this cycle at all02:25
ScottLthere were a few cycles previously where he was completely inactive as well02:25
frewsxcvis this project still alive?02:25
frewsxcvrather, how is this cycle going?02:25
ScottLfrewsxcv, absolutely!02:25
* frewsxcv was on the team years ago02:25
ScottLwe've had some major improvements this cycle02:25
frewsxcvjust checking in out of curiosity02:25
ScottL* finished transition to xfce02:26
ScottL* added lowlatency kernel to repos02:26
ScottL* defaulted to lowlatency kernel02:26
frewsxcvnicce02:26
ScottL* image is now live dvd02:26
ScottL* other stuff i can't think of right now :P02:26
frewsxcvabout time that lowlatency got in02:27
frewsxcvany changes in software?02:27
frewsxcv*media software02:27
ScottLwhich media software, frewsxcv ?03:00
ScottLfor audio? or graphics, video?  that media?03:00
ScottLsome changes in those areas03:01
astraljavafrewsxcv: LTNC! Come on board, we've missed ya. :)09:20
ttoinehi09:43
astraljavaHi ttoine!09:47
ttoineastraljava, how are you today ?09:48
astraljavaGuys, the patch Lionel did really works, but I was just too dumb to see it. Had to do with xfconf values, when they were already set, no change was happening. But the patch works when the user boots up the first time, which can also be emulated by clearing the xfconf values for xfce4-mixer.09:49
astraljavaI'm updating the bug #972781 now with a debdiff, should be there in a few minutes.09:49
ubottuLaunchpad bug 972781 in xfce4-volumed "Prefer PulseAudio when XF86AudioMute is used for ubuntustudio session" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/97278109:49
astraljavattoine: I'm good, but anxiously waiting for new regarding an apartment. Thanks, and how are you? How was Easter?09:50
ttoineIt was great for my young son : tons of chocolates animals, bells, eggs, etc... ;-)09:52
ttoineAnd you ?09:52
astraljavaI was packing, watching a loooot of hockey, and doing some testing/debugging/developing. It was alright. Oh and I did go out a lot, biking mostly. Great weather, for northern Finland at least. :)09:53
astraljavamicahg: TheMuso: If you have time, please check bug #972781 and advise further on how to get it uploaded. Not a FFe, this is a usability bug IMHO.10:03
ubottuLaunchpad bug 972781 in xfce4-volumed "Prefer PulseAudio when XF86AudioMute is used for ubuntustudio session" [Undecided,New] https://launchpad.net/bugs/97278110:03
ttoineastraljava, good time so too !10:23
ttoineastraljava, I checked the state of the little visual bug of the menu icon in thet top panel, and it seems that it is not moving at all... can you tell me what to do to have it available in the updates ?10:24
astraljavattoine: I remember there's a bug for that, do you have the number for it available?10:25
ttoineah, wait a second. You teached me how to do the debdiff with that bug, it #/96716010:26
ttoineastraljava, I just changed it to fix comitted, because I attached the debdiff10:26
astraljavabug #96716010:30
ubottuLaunchpad bug 967160 in ubuntustudio-default-settings (Ubuntu) "The logo background is not transparent" [Undecided,Fix committed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/96716010:30
astraljavattoine: Ok, it looks good. You can increment the version numbers for project-specific packages, as they are all ubuntu, so no need for ubuntu1 in there. :) micahg, could you include that patch for default-settings when you're doing the upload? Thanks!10:34
ttoineastraljava, I don't understand very well the increment point...10:35
astraljavattoine: Normally the version marks the version in debian (our upstream). When there are ubuntu-specific changes, they are marked with this postfix, for instance I added the Studio-specific fix for xfce4-volumed, it's version is now 0.1.13-2ubuntu2, meaning a second ubuntu-specific change for that debian version.10:37
astraljavattoine: But for ubuntustudio- packages, there's no need for ubuntuX postfixes, as these are all ubuntu packages anyway. So in this case, the version should just be incremented marking it 0.33 for -default-settings.10:39
astraljavaBut it doesn't matter now, as there were other changes to that package by Scott, so this patch can be merged without that part of changelog, just including your name and explanation for the patch.10:40
astraljavaJust for future reference, that's all. Thanks for providing the patch in the first place! :)10:40
ttoineastraljava, actually, I just let the postfixe. It was generated when doing the different steps for creating the debdiff10:41
astraljavattoine: Yeah, I know. It's easy to not notice, dch creates it automatically.10:41
ttoinebut I can just rename the debdiff filename ?10:42
astraljavattoine: But it's something that a packager has to look for.10:42
astraljavattoine: Yes, the name is not relevant.10:42
ttoineok, now I know. thanks again... sometimes I feel a bit "not enough skilled" to be a "developper"10:43
astraljava...but it's good to keep it as *.debdiff, so it's immediately noticeable upon first look.10:43
ttoineah of course10:43
ttoineand then, I hope that the bug with the lighdm can be solved10:44
astraljavattoine: These things just have to be learnt, not very intuitive. :) I do not think I'm a ubuntu developer, I'm still relying too much on the people like Lionel, Micah, Luke etc.10:44
astraljavattoine: Yeah, it proved to be more difficult, but haven't followed since they dropped the initial fix.10:44
ttoineastraljava, I can't understand why it was not based on the unity-greeter... It works well, so, I were the developper, I would have started from this package, and just changed color and background picture10:46
ttoineI mean, instead of rewriting a new one10:47
astraljavattoine: I don't know either, yet, but I joined the group for it, so that I can keep better track on its progress and participate in the development from Studio's POV.10:48
ttoineyes. it is very strange that it is not possible to "save" the default desktop we want to use10:49
ScottLttoine, i wanted to tell you that i did the menu icon fix a little different12:14
ttoineScottL, yes ?12:14
ScottLttoine, the two .png images were created with the .svg that you fixed which therefore had the non-fully-transparent transparency12:15
ScottLso i updated them all but gave you credit in the changelog for it12:15
ttoineScottL, thank you. So I did a mistake too at the export ??12:15
ScottLi didn't see the other two images in the debdiff, did i make a mistake in that?12:15
ScottLttoine, oh, and thank you for reminding me about this bug :P  i had really meant to have fixed this (again) and had forgotten12:16
* ScottL is getting kids ready for school/day care12:17
ttoineScottL, in the debdiff, there should be the svg and the 2 png...12:17
ttoineScottL, I was testing the ubuntu themes (radiance and ambiance) in ubuntu studio xfce and with radiance, wich is bright, It was very anoying12:18
ttoineBy the way, radiance is beautiful in Ubuntu Studio12:18
astraljavaScottL: You're probably not there anymore, but worth a shot. I can't set the team as bug supervisor nor security contact for LP project gcdmaster-gtk3, as I'm not an admin for this team. Could you either add me as one, or configure the project yourself. Up to you. :)12:58
astraljavaAll: If you're interested in bringing gcdmaster back, please see mail: https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-studio-devel/2012-April/003979.html13:11
ttoineScottL, mudita24 is still in the mediaplayer menu13:50
len_astraljava, +1 on the CDMastering project.14:05
astraljavamicahg: Made an update to -default-settings, so please make sure when uploading that the revision 116 is with it. Thanks!14:16
scott-workjanne, good work on the pulse-mixer issue!  :)18:38
astraljavaThanks, but Lionel did all the work actually.18:48
ScottLastraljava, i'll look into the admin stuff, might just set you as admin if that will work22:06
ScottLi forgot to remove the two mixers from the media playback menu22:06
ScottLnot sure if it's too late or not, might just wait until next cycle22:07
astraljavaScottL: I haven't had news about the upload so far, so there _should_ still be time.22:07
ScottLi'm very much looking forward to getting all the packages updated in the repos, the meta's rebuilt, and test our RC for this cycle22:07
ScottLs/test/testing22:07
ScottLit's been a bloody amazing cycle, IMO22:07
ScottLastraljava, you and len_ have both been quite instrumental in the development of this cycle22:08
ScottLand micahg has been incredible in helping us with the repos, the metas, and the incidental "arcane" stuff like maintenance scripts and sundry :)22:08
astraljavaThanks, but I think the biggest factor has been the more 'official' leadership and the very easily approachable uploading done by Luke and Micah.22:09
astraljavaSo credit to where it's due, to you and to the real devs. :)22:09
ScottLoh, very good point about TheMuso helping with the kernel issue22:09
ScottLhehe, thank you :)  but we would not have accomplished as much without you as well22:10
astraljavaBut I admit Len has been a tremendous contributor, there'd have been many, many things missing/flawed unless for his tireless testing and elaborate discussions.22:10
ScottLi don't know if i made much progress to getting my repo access privileges, but a lot was certainly accomplished and i learned quite a bit22:10
ScottLttoine, in his short time hanging around this cycle, has been very helpful as well22:11
ScottLi'll try to get the menu thing fixed tonight, but my evening schedule is pretty full already at the house22:11
ScottLspeaking of which, i need to attend to a few matters with the family :)22:11
ScottLbe back in a bit22:11
frewsxcvastraljava: heh, i could rejoined. it looks like the website hasn't been touched since i was in 8th grade23:48
frewsxcvthough i would prefer to do actual development23:48
astraljavafrewsxcv: There's going to be a new site timed for release of precise.23:50
astraljavafrewsxcv: Yes, please! We have some ideas for the Q cycle.23:50
frewsxcvastraljava: sweet, maybe i can work on it over the summer, when i'm not busy with school23:50
astraljavaSounds super.23:51
frewsxcvfor the meantime, i'll just idle in here and follow along23:51
astraljavafrewsxcv: Just in time for champagne (in about a fortnight or so) :D23:53
frewsxcvwhen is the 12.04 release anyways?23:54
astraljava26th23:58
