sylosI've been asking this everywhere so sorry if you've seen the thread but heres some info: http://paste.ubuntu.com/932913/18:40
holsteinsylos: yup18:41
holsteinthats true18:41
holsteini use a patched kernel in 10.04 from falktx.. from the KXstudio ppa's18:41
sylosinteresting point18:41
holsteinsylos: personally, id just dual boot18:42
holsteinor use the other kernel18:42
holsteinor just dont have 3d18:42
sylosI havent yet found a kernel that works - tried a few including rt kernel on vanilla and UbStudio - and I dont have vga out on the board - only hdmi18:43
holsteinsylos: well.. just dont install the proprietary dirver, and use whatever kernel you want18:43
holsteinyou have some compromises you'll need to decide about18:43
holsteinincluding, mayber going with different graphics hardware18:44
holsteinbut, the patched kernel works fine for me18:44
sylosit isnt dependent on the driver - if the card is there then problem pops up. The only way so far is remove NVIDIA card and then buy a HDMI monitor - problem happens with both NVIDIA and ATI cards18:45
holsteinsylos: pretty sure its something with the driver18:45
holsteinyou can try the patched one and see18:45
holsteinthe patched kernel18:45
holsteinyou can try 12.04 live18:45
holsteinyou can try AVLinux live18:46
holsteini would also try other distros live and see18:46
sylosWhich patched kernel exactly?18:46
holsteinsylos: the one from the KXstudio ppa's that i mentioned.. the ones that falktx made18:46
sylosI have tried Avlinux live and it had same issue. Just burning puppy 3.3 now but dont have a lot of hope18:46
holsteinsylos: i would try something different18:46
holsteinsuse.. fedora18:46
holsteinfeel free and ask in #opensourcemusicians .. i gotta run18:47
sylosthanks18:47
