[04:11] MZIGGA: sure.. you can try http://www.turnkeylinux.org/ ...ubuntu based, and they run great live for testing [04:11] i have the OS install [04:12] installed* [04:12] now im sittin here looking at the CLI wonderin what now lol [04:14] https://help.ubuntu.com/11.10/serverguide/C/index.html ? [04:14] yeah [04:14] i know, been reading it for hours [04:15] biggest question is GUI or no GUI [04:16] MZIGGA: if you need a GUI, run one [04:17] i found it helpful when transitioning to a CLI only server [04:18] any gui prefered over all the others [04:18] or they all the same [04:19] MZIGGA: they are not at all "the same" though some are similar, and you can prefer which ever you want [04:24] ok so i tryed to install x11 gui and i still boot to the CLI [04:25] MZIGGA: if its ubuntu, maybe try starting with a default light environment like lubuntu-desktop [04:27] ubuntu 11.10 [04:28] MZIGGA: you can also install lubuntu, and use it as a server if you prefer [04:28] OR, install the lubuntu-desktop meta pacakge im suggesting... or xubuntu-desktop [04:29] looking for the command for that [04:29] MZIGGA: sudo apt-get install [04:30] sudo apt-get install lubuntu-desktop ??? [04:30] MZIGGA: i suggest doing some research, and decide what you need/want and why [04:30] that i do know [04:31] that *will* install the lubuntu-desktop metapackage.. but do you want it? that'll be like as if you have installed lubuntu [04:31] web hosting and files storage and file transfer server [04:31] thats what i want [04:31] MZIGGA: you dont *need* a gui for that [04:32] MZIGGA: you mentioned wanting one, and LXDE is a light one.. you can do all of that from lubuntu, or any *buntu [04:34] understandable [04:34] just not sure how yet [04:34] linux is just really new [04:34] no me that is [04:35] MZIGGA: take it slow.. also, those live CD's i suggested do all of that, and i learned alot obout servers using them [04:35] decide what you need to sever via the web, and set that up.. or try one of the live CD's i suggested with drupal or joomla pre-configured [04:37] thats what im trying to do === jalcine is now known as JackyAlcine === JackyAlcine is now known as jalcine === jalcine is now known as JackyAlcine [10:54] Hello everybody [13:34] hi newuser [13:35] hi, I can't get chromium to start in a guest session, any suggestions? [13:35] if you open a terminal in the guest session and type chromium-browser do you get any errors? [13:35] it's installed and set as default browser [13:36] erm... tricky to test as it's on this laptop! lol [13:36] ah [13:37] you can leave and come back [13:37] i'll have a try and see what happens [13:37] also if it is quiet in here you can try #ubuntu [13:37] you get there the same way [13:37] /j #ubuntu === Guest94473 is now known as JackyAlcine
