lordievaderNot really sure why20:20
asfyxiaThe question rises then, how do I get it *sighs*20:20
lordievaderPerhaps the repos needs to be updated to support precise20:21
asfyxiaI tried searching for updates with Muon, by terminal, but zilch happens20:21
asfyxiaand the repos are running on precise, I did a fresh install20:22
lordievaderWell this might explain it: http://www.ubuntuupdates.org/ppa/kubuntu-ppa_backports20:23
lordievaderSeems also that it only has oneiric.20:25
BluesKajasfyxia, sudo apt-add-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/ppa20:27
asfyxiaThat's somewhat different than I installed, BluesKaj (mine is according to that link of lordievader)... this one is new, or a different one?20:29
BluesKajthis one I got at #kubuntu-devel , one of the guys there setup that ppa20:30
asfyxiaOk, hold on, I'm gonna try it... *eager*20:32
asfyxiaHmm.. should I get rid of the first ppa first? lordievader, which one have you installed?20:36
lordievaderCurrently no backports. It seems it only has Oneiric packages.20:38
BluesKajasfyxia, you can find the ppas in /etc/apt/sources.list.d20:38
lordievaderOr use the command sudo add-apt-repository -r "ppa" to remove it20:39
CerealklrHello! Quick question about khotkeys. Does anybody know how to coerce it to use raw codes instead of key codes for inputting shortcuts? The issue is, when I try to make a shortcut C-M-<KP_END>, it simplifies that to C-M-<END>. I could live with C-M-<END> falsely triggering the action, except that C-M-<KP_END> does _not_ trigger the action. It makes the numpad, which I use for all of my directional shortcuts, functionally useless.20:43
asfyxiaThere's something wrong with index files, I think I'd better clean out my /etc/apt/sources.list, but not today... ;-p20:46
asfyxia....and suddenly Muon wake up and a lot is happening, from the new ppa I reckon, and I'll lean back and enjoy the show...20:52
CerealklrSmall correction: It's not khotkeys (don't know why I thought it was?) It's the kde control module's shortcut settings20:53

CerealklrOh no, by broken in I meant "lived in" or "configured as I like"23:49
AciD`ah, ok :)23:49
Cerealklrin fact, except for a few little issues with Muon in the very beginning on 11.10, I've had no serious issues23:49
AciD`I must say I'm very pleased with 12.04 which I installed without any problem on that comp23:50
CerealklrBut I've got a whole stack of tiny ones (Grid Desktop activity only works on the first display of my virtual desktops, the shortcut manager records processed key codes instead of raw keycodes, so it doesn't work for a large number of reaosnable normal keys [like the number pad]), etc.23:50
AciD`while still using 11.10 with 4.8.2 on my laptop. Though, I haven't tried the dready akonadi..23:50
CerealklrI've figured out the issue to the former problem after a lot of testing and messing with display settings, but still can't figure out a fix23:51
AciD`can't help you there23:51
CerealklrYeah, I've posted about it here and #kde twice, and nobody really had any input. =/23:52
calcmandandoes a usb 3 controller have to be onboard during the installation of linux, or can i add one later and work?23:52
CerealklrStrikes me as odd, because I don't think it'd be a rare occurrence to want to you number pad keys for shortcuts, or your second monitor with widgets23:52
AciD`calcmandan: it should be automagically recognized later23:52
Cerealklrcalcmandan: Pretty sure the kernel module will be loaded when necessary. you can try sudo lsmod to see if a module for usb3 compatibility is loaded. As to what that module would be called, I haven't a clue.23:53
calcmandanAciD`: thanks.  i installed a pcix usb expander since my mobo doesn't have it built in. i'm making a usb3 thumb drive into a bootable and it's taking a long time.23:53
Cerealklrcalcmandan: but its still functional?23:54
calcmandanthis is my output23:54
calcmandanhttp://paste.kde.org/471608/23:54
calcmandanCerealklr: it's functional. just that my usb thumbdrives are faster than this23:55
Cerealklrhave you had the opportunity to speedtest that combination of hardware on a different OS?23:55
calcmandanCerealklr just installed it 20 minutes ago.23:56
Cerealklrcalcmandan: xhci_hcd is loaded, which as I understand it is the module in charge of USB3.0 support23:56
CerealklrSo yes, it looks like kubuntu has recognized it as such23:57
calcmandanCerealklr: ok thanks.23:57
calcmandangod i love you guys23:57
Cerealklrheh, no problem23:57
CerealklrI love easy problems for me to deal with23:57
Cerealklrand I keep hoping someone who feels the same will find my issues easy. ;]23:57
calcmandani'll just copy a iso file over straight and see how fast it is.23:57
AciD`that's the spirit :)23:58
