Seems that my eth0 is disabled after a pm-hibernate is ran after a server reboot. A second pm-hibernate, fixes the disabled eth0. This is not ideal as my server's bios is set to boot to last state upon a power failure. [13:15] Ultimately I would need WOL to work flawlessly after any power failures or a WOL event. [14:35] Farith: i found that to be hardware [14:35] hey holstein , you think so? [14:35] cracked my head over this thing for hours today. [14:36] tried almost everything in forums. still no avail. [14:36] Farith: i dont really think so... its just what i have actually encountered from actual hardware cases [14:36] Farith: i have one box that i put a lan card in to get WOL [14:37] i have a few that i never got it working in [14:37] mine is an onboard nic [14:37] from atheros [14:37] Farith: rigth [14:37] right* [14:37] Farith: you might need to add a lan card that supports WOL [14:37] Farith: regardless, its not software at that point [14:37] mine does but just wake on g [14:37] ive got another server... which has all pumbg [14:38] that one is working fine [14:38] flawlessly [14:38] Farith: i dont go much on what the label says.. if it were supported, it would be working [14:38] could be a different bios version, of chipset [14:38] regardless, i would just put another NIC in and test [14:39] yeah..prollly get that going. Thanks for the tip holstein [16:47] \topic [16:47] !topic [16:47] Please read the channel topic whenever you enter, as it contains important information. [16:51] problem: after updating i was unable to log in to gui with valid password, changed it from recov. mode but still nothing [16:51] updated from 11.10 to 12.04 [16:54] mdzeko: i would try a 12.04 live CD.. could be anything really [16:55] i would want to make sure that 12.04 supportes the hardware by default, then i would troubleshoot the graphics or whatever else [16:55] will do.. it's just wierd that sudo -i -u works with the same password.. thanks for the reply [16:56] mdzeko: i dont think its password related [16:56] mdzeko: make yourself a new user temporarily and try that [16:56] yes.. i kind of got that [16:57] holstein: thanks [16:58] mdzeko: good luck! Is it possible to reinstall a fresh ubuntu server or do I need to contact the server host? [21:13] Hello. === Fyodorovna is now known as wilee-nilee === wylde_ is now known as wylde
