[17:15] <achiang> the code was written by a third party for the OEM
[17:15] <achiang> and "all rights reserved"
[17:15] <achiang> but the OEM is generally open source friendly
[17:15] <achiang> so we could ask
[17:15] <achiang> and it is likely they'd say yes
[17:15] <achiang> just no one has done that yet
[17:16] <achiang> exactly -- the x86 implementation used the last good boot flag in grub
[17:16] <achiang> the part that i see trouble for our future is, how do we get the same functionality in arm bootloaders (uboot)
[17:17] <achiang> yes, i think the system plumbing issue is more tractable. the hard question is, what happens if user data is on an overlay fs of some sort
