trelaneI installed Ubuntu on my beaglebone and for some reason it's running a PSP kernel.  I installed the OMAP kernel and can't quite figure out how to switch03:34
scientestrelane, PSP03:45
scientes?03:45
trelanethat's what rcn-ee called it, and it seems to lack most of the OMAP drivers.03:45
trelaneI'm trying a standard OMAP kernel03:45

trelaneok, and that kernel doesn't boot at all :/03:49
trelanehe's missing all the twl4030 drivers :/03:57
XorAPSP Processor Support Package04:00
twbIs beaglebone different from beagleboard?04:00
XorAbone doesnt have a twl403004:00
XorAso I would be surprised if the drivers loaded04:00
trelanethen how is the bone breaking out analog pins?04:01
trelaneand what driver am I looking for?04:02
XorAread schematics, see where they are wired04:02
trelanelooks like it's right off the AM355804:07
XorAlooks like there is a driver04:15
XorA /sys/devices/platform/omap/tsc04:15

trelane:/sys/devices/platform/omap# ls -asl tsc04:37
trelanels: cannot access tsc: No such file or directory04:37
XorAtrelane: I suggest you take kernel sources + config from OE then04:38
trelaneyep :(04:40
XorAgood news, looks like source is direct from TI and defconfig is one simple file :-D04:40

ayakano11:15
ayakalike X it need tty, but I can't set it in kernel11:15
ayakaso is there any way which avoid using tty, and using fb directly11:16
* LetoThe2nd fails totally to see the problem.11:20
LetoThe2ndbut i smell http://mywiki.wooledge.org/XyProblem11:20
ayakano, it is tty problem, it is in kernel, once I set config_vt=y, i can't mount my,rootfs anymore11:48

hallenbergHi, where can I find the live-build configuration used to build the oneiric arm images (specifically armel+omap4)? I've search around but I'm only able to find the preinstalled images themselves, no information on how to recreate them.14:20

parini am not able to install SGX drivers on ubuntu 12.04. can any one help?15:35
parinaccording to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/OMAP/Graphics after installing 12.04 i get icon in tray to install PVR Driver15:36
=== zyga-food is now known as zyga
parinbefore i install driver i check output of eglinfo command and it was showind software renderer15:36
parinsame is happening after driver installation and reboot15:37
TypoNAMparin: click on the gear icon at the top side right side of the desktop and choose the update software one15:48
TypoNAMinstall all the updates then use that same gear icon to Shut Down... and restart15:50
TypoNAMafter doing that then you should get the jockey dialog titled Additional Drivers window to be offered to install PowerVR SGX drivers after a minute of the desktop environment finished loading. If not then click on the gear icon yet again and select System Settings... click on Additional Drivers under Hardware category and now you should be able to install the PowerVR SGX drivers from there15:52
TypoNAMafter its done scanning for hardware.15:52
parin@ TypoNAM thanks for your help15:58
parini am installing all updates right now i will follow your instructions and see what happens15:59
TypoNAMparin:  :)16:08
parin@TypoNAM ok i got PVR SGX Driver installed but glxinfo command still shows Software Rasterizaer16:32
parindo i need to configure it? in When I clicked Additional Drivers in Hardware tab it says PowerVR is activated and currently in use16:34
TypoNAMparin: that is because PowerVR SGX is an OpenGL ES implementation, not OpenGL16:34
TypoNAMyou want the es2gears and es2_info tools16:34
TypoNAMparin: install the mesa-utils-extra package for those two utilities16:36
parinalrite will do that16:36
parinTypoNAM ok i got that working. es2_info shows me GL_RENDERER: PowerVR SGX 54016:40
TypoNAMthen it is working16:41
parinyes also before i installed it all applications (e.g Terminal) took long time to open (10 secs) now that time is reduced drastically (2 secs) is that because 3d acceleration is activated?16:43
TypoNAMmost likely due to SD card latency16:44
TypoNAMI do have noticed a long delay when opening a new terminal either locally or via ssh remotely16:44
parinhmm...i am using class 4 16GB16:45
TypoNAMcause everytime you open a terminal several shell scripts are ran to prepare the terminal environment16:45
parinright...and that delay is huge when I open Qt Creator...i will try using class 6 and class 10 SD cards16:46
parinwhat are other storage options with panda? Can I use static hard drive?16:46
TypoNAMparin: also if you have any problems with unity such as no borders around windows and the control box with title bar is missing, click on the gear icon and select Log Out, at the login window click on the white ubuntu icon near your login name and select Ubuntu-2D, log back in, and now you're using the unity that doesn't falsely detect OpenGL and try to use it16:46
parinya i notices that behavior when i installed PVR Driver first but didnt update the Ubuntu. as soon as I updated Ubuntu it started working ok16:50
TypoNAMahh ok :)16:51
parinno I am really want to try NASA's worldwind 3D Glob program and see how well that works16:52
TypoNAMhehehe16:58
GrueMasterGuys, if you are looking to do some serious development work, I recommend using a usb-sata drive.  You will still need to have the boot partiion on the SD, but just change the boot script to point to the usb drive for root.  Speed improvement is significant.18:05
GrueMasterAnother option is to do a netboot install to the usb drive, but if you already have a working image, you can use a program like gparted to copy/paste the rootfs from SD to the usb drive.18:07
GrueMasterTypoNAM: parin:  ^^^18:07
parinHi GrueMaster thank you for your suggestion...i am surly try SATA18:10
parinbut how about SSD? in my project I have limited size18:11
parinlimites space to accommodate hard drive18:11
TypoNAMparin: he's talking about a USB attached drive, which are normally IDE or SATA internal drives in a case18:13
TypoNAMI'm sure a SSD incase of a USB enclosure casing would work just as well18:13
TypoNAMincase = inside18:13
GrueMasterTypoNAM: Yes, SSD in a usb enclosure will also work.18:14
parinhmmm..i will try both actually...i definitely need to improve read/write speed18:15
parinalso trying xUbuntu-Desktop if it helps18:15
GrueMasterMy suggestion is only for a development environment.  Once your app is running, you can package it and istall it on a test "execution" image that is SD only for deployment.18:15
parinyes but we do constant development and right now just concentrating on prototype product18:16
parinso right now its ok if we keep HD with panda18:17
scientesparin, didn't they announce that they are going to get you guys a calxeda this month?18:25
