[02:41] i am having issues with Flash now. it was after i went through some updates via the update manager. it will say "missing plugin" or something similiar. i had it reinstalled already and still the same problem. [04:59] I have a problem with Chromium [05:00] What's the problem. [05:00] When I try to load a certin youtube vid I get the aw snap message [05:01] You in the html5 test? http://youtube.com/html5 [05:01] Also, what flash version/package do you have installed? [05:03] 1.2.202.235 flashinstaller [05:03] flashplugin-installer* [05:04] I'd recommend you purge that, enable !partner if it isn't already, and install adobe-flashplugin (not a ton of difference, but I've noticed a few.) Alternitivly, you can install Chrome and get pepperflash. [05:09] enable what? [05:09] !partner [05:09] Canonical's partner repositories provide packages a location for software vendors to publish applications. The repo itself can be added by running this in a !terminal: « sudo add-apt-repository "deb http://archive.canonical.com/ $(lsb_release -sc) partner" » [05:09] !partner? How do I do that? [05:09] herpy: I am only a bot, please don't think I'm intelligent :) [05:10] Says right there... [05:14] screw it I'll install chrome === P4R4N01D1 is now known as P4R4N01D === len is now known as Guest95334 [08:12] Hello. I'm having trouble with a U100/MSI Wind netbook booting Xorg/lightdm. I tried service lightdm start and startx, and both commands throw me back to the console. [08:12] I removed a whole load of bloat applications, including pcmanfm. [08:12] This is the second FRESH install, and it still won't boot. Been trying to fix this ALL day can anyone please help? [08:14] I've also got the error "^@could not write bytes: Broken pipe". [08:15] Is anyone there? I've got no clue what's wrong. [08:15] from console: startlubuntu [08:15] does it prompt something? [08:16] and then some logs could be inspected to get a glue [08:16] glue :D [08:16] hahaha [08:16] lol [08:16] can't blame autocorrect ;) [08:16] well no I cant [08:16] installing bloat now... [08:18] OK. I tried startlubuntu and got an error..oh snap [08:18] That worked [08:18] did it work? [08:18] you got desktop? [08:18] Yeah brother well done :) [08:18] So I *must* have pcmanfm installed? [08:18] pcmanfm is core component [08:18] it handles the desktop [08:19] OK. No biggie, I'll just remove it from autostart. [08:19] I have no idea what you've been upto [08:20] :D [08:20] Oh um [08:20] but I would: sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm [08:20] something wrong with your installation [08:20] as X seems to work [08:20] There's an autostart file somewhere with a whole load of @'s in front of them for autolaunched tasks [08:20] I just remove pcmanfm from there [08:21] OK [08:21] why you want to remove pcmanfm from there? [08:21] thunar has custom actions I can't do without [08:21] as you wish [08:21] Should have spacefm by default. I think. [08:21] pcmanfm + perks [08:41] Hello, i succeeded in entering the lubuntu chat? [08:41] seems so [08:42] Ok, fine . . . [08:42] Not so familiar with xchat ;) [08:43] if you're familiar with AmIRC, you're home with X-Chat :D [08:44] The last time i used to chat it was with ProTerm on an Apple IIGS :D [08:46] Last time I was on chat, I was using TekNap on OpenNap. Memories... [08:46] :) [08:46] Anyway, may i ask for some problems i've with lubuntu 12.04? [08:47] That's the idea Farinet :) [08:47] Ok, here it comes [08:49] 1. Problems with 12.04 lubuntu ppc: Even with the update from 12.4 beta to 12.04 LTS the symlinks which point to vmlinux etc. are put on the "/" (root) directory. Moreover, the most recent linux kernel img has the wrong rights! [08:49] I described that in ubuntuforums.org (thread: PPC Testers needed) [08:50] It was a problem which existed already before with *ANY* kernel update [08:51] @nothingspecial May be i saw you in the forums as well . . . (?) [08:51] yes Farinet [08:53] Another question concerns that the newest kernel is "-smp" flavour. I read that the ubuntu comunity maintaining the ppc versions decided to drop the non "-smp". [08:54] 2 questions in regard: Is that ubuntu specific (or does debian the same)? What means "-smp" - just out of curiousity . . . ? [08:57] Farinet: You can read the discussion re droping smp here [08:57] https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-devel/2012-March/034927.html [08:58] non-smp rather [09:02] @nothingspecial: If so, why the "apt-get update" & "apt-get upgrade" installed an -smp flavour. I never ever had one on my Powerbook ?? [09:06] Farinet: I'm afraid I don't know. You could ask in #ubuntu-powerpc [09:12] Ok. I read (ubuntu.5.n6.nabble.com) they will drop non-smp (Benjamin Herrenschmidt & cie are well know developers i think) [09:13] @nothingspecial: so, it would be better to ask the ppc related questions over there, i presume? [09:13] I would imagine so Farinet, don't know how busy it will be on a Sunday though [09:13] :) [09:16] Ok, then the lubuntu 12.04 x86 related problem: On a Samsung Netbook (N 150P) i cannot use lightdm. If i set it (by dpkg-reconfigure lightdm) to main display manger the login hangs. With lxdm it works. [09:16] But when i try to purge lightdm all lubuntu related stuff is deleted as well, and i rest with basic lxde [09:17] That may be something to do with the wallpaper Farinet, do you have a custom wallpaper set? [09:17] silly as it sounds .... [09:21] see here Farinet [09:21] http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=11886394&postcount=3 [09:22] Not in this moment; at least not in the settings for lightdm (with lxdm i use Natty_bug) [09:22] The post concerns Ubuntu but the bug may be similar [09:22] @nothingspecial: JFYI: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PowerPCKnownIssues (> No non-smp kernel) [09:22] I'm not suggesting installing gdm by the way [09:23] Not really ;) [09:23] I can live with lxdm, not that big of a problem. But i'd like to understand, where the problem is (and i'm a bit afraid for further upgrades) [09:27] I have to go Farinet, hope you solve your issues [10:26] is there any way to fullscreen leafpad without the menu bar showing? [11:01] hi [11:20] hello [11:21] i have a little problem with lubuntu can you help me? [11:21] go ahead and ask [11:22] i added auto login at the /etc/xdg/lubuntu/lxdm/lxdm.conf [11:22] but i have to make a mouse click on the use name to login [11:22] user [11:23] i want auto login without showing the lxdm [11:23] how can i do that? [11:23] i have added autologin=themis [11:24] but auto login is not working [11:25] any solution? [11:27] ???? [11:30] ????????????????? I kept Windows XP on the other partition when installing. When booting, the grub menu screen does not come up. Instead the netbook boots directly into Windows. If I connect the usb, then the grub screen comes up and I can choose ubuntu. It then boots from the hard drive. I tried to sudo update-grub. [23:51] gnufun: You got cut off at "...according to plan (it found ever" However, you can hold left shift on boot, or edit /etc/default/grub and comment out hidden boot (# being comments) and run sudo update-grub [23:56] Hi there.
