[05:09] bobweaver: nice idea [05:12] bobweaver: I'm trying to do something similar, but on pandaboard which we have in a company that I work for [17:32] So I am uploading ISO of what I got for others to play with says it is going to take abut 7 hrs or so [17:35] and yes I am still porting to nux and yes it is a pain in the butt and yes I am not sure that I can do this :) have a good one I am off to set up demo of Ubuntu TV at a local computer shop . [19:45] ping popey [19:45] yo bobweaver [19:45] hey there [19:45] I have some questions [19:45] fire away [19:45] I just got 13 stores that want to carry Ubuntu [19:46] I get live cds from my head loco guy [19:46] carry as in have the cds on show in store? [19:46] but I do not have enough and I am also running out of time for all of the things that I am doing [19:46] or carry as in ship machines with it pre-installed? [19:46] yes and preinstalled also [19:46] one store wants me to set up a puppet center [19:47] sounds exciting [19:47] they are a computer recycling center that sells used computers [19:47] How can I talk to some one at canonical about this ? [19:47] or who to get a-hold of [19:47] about which aspect? [19:47] the cds [19:47] you can order CDs from the store [19:48] or burn your own of course [19:48] getting more then my loco guy gives me [19:48] or get someone to burn them for you [19:48] we generally ship more cds to people for events / conferences and the like [19:48] not for businesses to sell/use [19:48] but of course some may find their way into the hands of people who run businesses, we can't control that [19:48] think about he ammount of people that will get it thou [19:49] sure [19:49] but it doesnt scale [19:49] if everyone did that in their town we woudl spend all our money on making cds [19:49] maybe if I make like a fake package like windows does [19:49] and none on developers making the software ☺ [19:49] lol [19:49] great though it is to advocate ubuntu \o/ [19:49] we cant really finance every business wanting to use it [19:50] I could just have like the cardboard shefs [19:50] we provide the artwork and iso image.. all you need is a cd [19:50] that is what I am looking for not the cds them selfs [19:50] and stands [19:50] stuff like that [19:50] yeah, we used to do those cardboard trays [19:50] not the acuaual cds [19:50] but we don't anymore [19:50] dang [19:50] we don't have point of sale stuff [19:50] somoene should design that [19:51] and put the designs on spreadubuntu or something [19:51] like lemon ? [19:51] that would be awesome [19:51] then people could make their own [19:51] or get a company to make them for them [19:51] those cardboard things last longer than the CDs they contain, so you wouldn't need to buy them as consumables [19:52] My idea is to have a peice of cardboard that a person picks up and brings to the counter then they install on computer [19:52] you'd need what, 2 per store, thats not many [19:52] one store gets over 500 people a day [19:52] I am going to have to train there staff [19:53] but if there was like 3 things more that I need [19:53] er [19:53] one the piece of cardboard that I am talking about [19:53] two ) where to get support via advantage and also community [19:54] you can buy advantage from the online store [19:54] 3) displays cardboard for the pre-installed computers [19:54] yup ^^ [19:54] but we dont have the other stuff [19:55] but the docs I have here that I print out http://ubuntustreetteam.tk/UA.pdf [19:55] Be good to put the call out to someone like Martin Owens and see if he could design something for you, he loves this stuff [19:55] how to kick some one to say we need to make this [19:55] thanks for the name [19:55] doctormo on irc [19:57] thanks popey you are awesome ! [20:03] np [20:03] anytime [20:04] :)
