[00:27] hi all [00:28] I've been using Ubuntu for a while, but it won't run on my 2nd very old laptop. I was recommended Lubuntu and wanted to know if anyone can compare it to Crunchbang for me. thanx [00:31] Well, crunchbang would be a little faster as it only uses OpenBox, Lubuntu uses LXDE (which also uses OpenBox) [00:32] Unit193, so it's more resource heavy by comparisson? (excuse the noob questions, I'm fairly new) [00:33] Well, they use different desktops, and #! isn't Ubuntu based, so that'd be a reason it could be. (Been a while since I compared, so things could have changed) [00:35] Unit193, thank you. One problem I am encountering though, is that in crunchbang I have some dependency problems when installing rvm, whereas I didn't have that in Ubuntu [00:37] Lubuntu wouldn't have a problem then (Ruby-rvm? I did an apt-get install to make sure, no errors) [00:39] Unit193, yes, ruby-rvm. It's giving me issues with the libsqlite3-dev package, that it requires a libsqlite3-0 that is older than the one that Debian "squeeze" has installed for me. [00:40] good to know that lubuntu has no errors though, so I might just make a switch [00:40] You can always build from the !mini too if you'd rather. [00:42] Unit193, I heard about that one. If I'm not mistaken it comes with bare minimum and I add what I need, right? [00:42] Yep. [00:42] !mini [00:42] The Minimal CD image is very small in size, and it downloads most packages from the Internet during installation, allowing you to select only those you want (the installer is like the one on the !Alternate CD). See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Installation/MinimalCD [00:45] Unit193, thank you [00:49] Sure. [02:09] How do I downgrade flash from 11 to 10.x ? the new version does not work with my computer. [06:15] phil is that u? [07:52] Hello. Would anyone happen to know why audio and video(webcam) would go out after being in a Skype call for a while? [07:53] The audio goes out for everything. I have to reboot before it will work again. === schmidtm_ is now known as schmidtm === schmidtm_ is now known as schmidtm [11:33] Hello, I would like to know where to edit the lightdm files for changing the location of the password field in the login screen [11:35] Hello === epzil0n is now known as Guest47328 === epzil0n is now known as Guest87163 [14:22] Hi [14:22] Unit193, You here Batman?? :) === Guest87163 is now known as epzil0n [15:00] hi [15:09] hello === epzil0n is now known as Guest97224 [16:05] someone knows how to install java on lubuntu? [16:05] !java [16:05] To just use java you need a "Java Runtime Environment" (JRE) and/or a browser plugin. If that is not sufficient you will need a "Java Development Kit" (JDK) aka "Software Development Kit" (SDK). Please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Java about how to install one of three current implementations.
