asterismoGridCube, do u know where are xfce panel settings stored? i want to change some layouts for a customized live CD01:08
GridCubewhen you say settings you mean? how it looks? or the launchers and plugins?01:08
GridCubei can see panel launchers on ~/.config/xfce4/panel01:13
GridCubebut i have no idea how they work01:13
xu-userquick question: why does my browser launch after i log in?01:14
xubuntu521Hello?01:14
GridCubehello xubuntu52101:15
GridCubexu-user, you have a session stored01:15
GridCubeit remembers your applications01:15
xubuntu521Hi Grid ;-)01:15
xu-usereven if i close it and log off, it loads when i reboot the system01:15
xubuntu521I have a question01:15
xu-userhow do i turn that off?01:16
GridCubeyes, close a session with the "remember session" thicked, it should remember that you closed with no program open01:16
GridCubeif it still happens then you probably have installed nautilus for some reason, it remembers sessions even if you tell it not to, because you must tell it not to from gnome and you obviously are not using gnome01:17
GridCubethat one fixes if you uninstall nautilus01:17
xu-usernow that you mention it, i think i have nautilus01:17

xubuntu521Ok, I'm real new at this.  I have a Dell 2400 desktop with WIN XP HOME on it.  I'm also a ham radio operator.  I was going to install Xbuntu 10.4 but time ran out on it.  Does Xbuntu 12.4 have the same radio programs?01:20
xu-useri bet thats why my gui file browser is acting strange too01:20
GridCubexu-user, see faq 4 http://xubuntu.org/news/faq-1204-precise/01:21
GridCubexubuntu521, maybe, some programs might have lost support, if they did then they are probably gone01:21
GridCubewhat where those programs?01:21
xubuntu521One was a Morse Code program you could use your computer to send out messages by your ham radio01:23
GridCubexubuntu521, if you know the name of the programs you can query ubottu like this /msg ubottu info program01:23
GridCubeit will tell you if that program is available or not on precise01:23
xubuntu521The others were different versions of Phase Shift Keying (PSK)01:24

xubuntu521Ok, Grid, I'll check it out.  I asked if I could ask a question because that's the way I was brought up.  I'm 66 now and too old to"change"01:26
xu-usergrid, thanks for the help01:26
GridCube:) no worries01:27
xubuntu924Hi! Is there a native keyboard shortcut to open the terminal? I thought I remembered there being one, similar to Ctrl-Alt-T in other Ubuntu-related distros, but I can't recall what it is.01:57
ruienyeah, super-T (i.e. windows-key + T)01:57
xubuntu924Great - that works! Thank you ruien!01:58
ruiensuper-W is browser. You can also add others or change the associated programs as well. That's done in Settings Manager -> Keyboard -> Application Shortcuts01:58

curbamHi, I'd like to remove the window decorations from some of my apps. It's easy in Openbox, but how do I do it in xfwm? I'm on Xubuntu 12.04 (xfce 4.8).06:30
chelzcurbam: somewhere in Window Manager Settings i think06:32
chelznot sure if there's a 'blank' theme06:32
curbamchelz: I don't want to remove all (like a new theme does), but only for certain applications. Terminal has an option, but that's normally adjusted by the wm.06:35
chelzcurbam: so like different themes for different applications?06:36
curbamchelz: not different themes, just no decorations for some apps. In Openbox I can define which apps get decorations,  and on what workspaces they will start...06:38
chelzah, i'm still new to xfce so there might be a way to do those things but i'm not sure06:39
laitecurbam: I believe there is no native way of doing that in xfce06:55
laitehowever, you can propably use xfce4 with compiz-window manager which makes it possible06:56
curbamlaite: or maybe replace xfwm with Openbox. Has anybody done that already?06:58
laitecurbam: quick googling shows that it's also possible :)07:00
curbamlaite: it's even in the Openbox wiki. Thanks guys!07:03

martinphonehow do you scan 200 images?13:10
LachezarHello. I can no longer find where to configure which font should be used for Monospace.13:13
drcOne at a time?  martinphone, what are you doing, totally changing everything on your computer?  Over the past few days you have asked how to massively manipulate, transform or change data, files, and text -)13:14
LachezarCurrently Xubuntu supplies a non-monospace font for monospace :( (Bold variant is wider than regular).13:14
martinphonereally drc ?13:14
martinphonewasnt conscious of that13:14
drcmartinphone: probably not, you've been busy :)13:15
laiteLachezar: I think the font used depends on program, not xfce13:18
=== gry is now known as gryllida
Lachezarlaite: Not really, no! There is NO font named Monospace. Instead an alias is configured for a specific font.13:25
laiteLachezar: oh, wow13:26
Lachezarlaite: There used to be an UI for specifying all (Serif, Sans, Monospace) font mappings.13:26
Lachezarlaite: Now there is only one font setting.13:26
* Lachezar sighs13:26
ochosiLachezar: that was definitely a gnome-dialog13:27
ochosiLachezar: or at least nothing xfce-specific13:27
ochosiin xfce, you can set the monospace font e.g. for the terminal in the terminal-settings13:28
ochosithat's why there's no such dialog13:28
Lachezarochosi: Doh! That's plain wrong!13:28
LachezarI am NOT talking about the terminal.13:28
ochosibut it might be worth filing a feature-request on bugzilla.xfce.org13:28
ochosiwhat ARE you talking about13:29
LachezarIt's an absurd idea to manage fonts in every application.13:29
ochosi:)13:29
LachezarAnd then one upgrades to 12.04, looses the used fonts, and hell comes laughing.13:29
ochosiso anyway, what do you want to achieve?13:29
ochosii mean with the monospace font13:29
LachezarEclipse uses these aliases to set up fonts (by default). Somehow after I upgraded to 12.04 the font that is supposedly monospace is no longer such.13:30
ochosieclipse is a java-app, right?13:32
Lachezarochosi: Yes, and No. Eclipse is a Java application, but uses SWT toolkit. That interacts with the GTK.13:35
ochosiLachezar: yes, i'm just saying this because it's an additional source of potential bugs. personally i've never gotten java apps to look and behave like gtk-apps13:36
Lachezarochosi: It worked until I upgraded to 12.04. No, Eclipse is probably NOT the issue.13:37
drcLachezar: What are you upgrading from?  and ochosi: When did Xubuntu switch to Droid?  Maybe this is the cause of the now non-mono Monospace?13:38
LachezarThe same thing actually happens with Libre Office Writer.13:38
ochosidrc: we switched to droid already 3 or 4 releases ago13:38
Lachezardrc: 11:10 -> 12.0413:38
drcok...I'm wrong :)  Just a thought13:38
ochosiLachezar: what's the problem with libreoffice-writer?13:38
Lachezarochosi: Have a line of text with monospace font, have the same line of thext with monospace-bold font. Both lines will be different length.13:39
doktoreashello everybody..I have customized xfce main bar with some icons and links..is there a way (copying files or something like that) to export to a new xubuntu installation?13:39
LachezarYes. The problem seems to be the Droid font. With Lucida Sans Typewriter it looks as it should.13:41
drcdoktoreas: ~/.config/xfce4/panel13:41
doktoreasthanks drc13:42
LachezarSo. How do I switch from Droid to Lucida?13:44
ochosiLachezar: settings>appearance>fonts13:44
Lachezarochosi: I can choose only one font there :(13:45
LachezarAnd it's Ubuntu, not Droid.13:45
ochosiLachezar: have you even tried using google? http://perlstalker.vuser.org/blog/sysadminnotes/tags/xfce/13:51
Lachezarochosi: Actually I found similar one, but it required fiddling with /etc/fonts/fonts.conf, which is not what I want. The file in Home is a good tip. Failed to Google it though.13:54
ochosiLachezar: okeydokey, still, filing a feature-request on bugzilla would be good and a benefit to all13:55
Lachezarochosi: And Yes, I lost a lot of time trying to actually find anything with google. SEO is the worst thing that happened to Search Engines: made them useless.13:55
Lachezarochosi: I was thinking of filing a request to fix the Droid font instead. I like it.13:55
ochosiLachezar: yeah, that'd also be good13:56
Lachezarochosi: Unfortunately that change made the Monospace font slanted and bold by default :(14:01

cypher-neoXifanie, I can try to help. :)15:20
Xifanielol Alright... how do I prevent my 2nd monitor screen from being shifted to my 1st when I manually close the 2nd, and when I open it back the 2 monitors have effectively switched places?15:21
cypher-neoXifanie, Good question. I've actually never had that happen, so I'm going to plug in my 2nd monitor right now and experiment.15:21
cypher-neoXifanie, Give me a few minutes. :)15:21
Xifaniealright, thanks15:22
XifanieI had to switch because Windows XP stopped working one day, always crashing on the logon process, never found the solution and didn't feel like reinstalling that crappy OS. Xubuntu does have a nice feel to it ;o15:24
cypher-neoXifanie, Xubuntu is very nice!15:26
Xifanieyeah, aside from all the weird problems I always encounter :P15:27
cypher-neoXifanie, Are you concerned about how to extend your desktop on Xubuntu? Because the display manager on X does not extend a desktop, it clones the screens.15:27
XifanieI can extend it15:28
Xifaniebut it seems there's no way to disable a monitor, and re-enable it and have it extended again without relogging15:28
Xifaniewhich is a pain because I need to disable my 2nd monitor to play World of Goo15:28
cypher-neoXifanie, Odd. I don't have that option on my setup.15:29
Xifanieit's in the settings editor15:29
XifanieDisplay/Monitor/Position/X & Y15:29
Xifaniethen you have to log out/in15:29
cypher-neoXifanie, I know, but mine only reads Display.15:30
cypher-neoXifanie, What you could try is disabling the monitor, play your game... and then when you want to extend it again, try enabling the monitor, hit Ctrl-F2 and "r" to restart the shell without restarting your session.15:30
cypher-neoXifanie, It works for me, but I have multiple sessions enabled, and I fear that command may not work for someone using an Xubuntu-GNOME-Shell hybrid.15:31
XifanieI'll have to play with that because when I disable to monitor it always resets the X/Y and have to set them back again manually >_<15:32
Xifaniewell, we'll see15:32
ochosiXifanie: you could use xfconf-query from the commandline15:32
ochosithat at least would make it easier to restore a certain setup15:32
ochosiwe're trying to make multi-monitor support better in xubuntu, hopefully soon enough for 12.1015:33
XifanieI've been trying all morning to search for a way to lock values in the settings editor to no avail, and I'm kinda new to Linux... I could make a script that would set my settings back right?15:33
ochosiXifanie: yup15:35

x__Dazuko & Clamav15:36
ochosiXifanie: but there might be a better solution to your problem as well, what was the setup again?15:36
Xifaniethe setup? the 2nd monitor being right to the first15:38
ochosiXifanie: you're not using a laptop, are you?15:38
Xifanieno15:38
ochosiok, so 2 external screens15:38
Xifanieyeppers15:39
ochosiif i may ask, why would you disconnect one from time to time?15:39
XifanieI'm not disconnecting any15:39
cypher-neoochosi, Xifanie, That was my issue unfortunately. I'm running from a laptop so my display properties are different.15:39
XifanieI'm just pushing the power button because sometimes I don't want to see what's on the second screen15:39
ochosiok, and that changes the setup already, right?15:40
Xifanielike the normal on/off button on the front15:40
XifanieI'm not sure, I'll test right away15:40
Xifanieoh no it doesn't change the settings, but now my first monitor displays what's supposed to be on the 2nd15:41
Xifanieand vise versa15:41
Xifaniethis is reseted if I relog15:41
ochosiif you logout/in again, it's fine again?15:42
Xifanieyes15:42
ochosithat is odd15:42
hobgoblinI'd say so15:42
ochosiso switching off one monitor swaps them?15:42

ochosiare you switching off your primary monitor maybe?15:42
ochosior does it not matter which one you switch off?15:42

ochosithen you might have to install the nvidia-settings dialog as well15:48

hobgoblincya15:57
cypher-neoLOL @ Xifanie15:57
w30Xifanie, likeBill Cosby says "tough love"15:57
hobgoblinXifanie: still got the issue?15:57
XifanieI'm trying to configure NVIDIA...15:58
hobgoblink15:59
Xifaniestill having issues but we'll see what I can make out of it15:59
hobgoblinXifanie: if you want to go through it with me - ping me - mine is setup with primary on left, twinview16:02
Xifaniewhat's twinview?16:03
hobgoblinI have one desktop - 2 screens16:04
DJzeeAsking for a opinion: is it better to run update manager through the terminal16:04
Xifanieoh, that's what I'm seeking :P16:04
hobgoblinXifanie: http://imgur.com/a/hdmi016:07
w30DJzee, I ran apt-get upgrade on my netbook because the gui wouldn't work and it did the upgrade successfully. Normally I run the gui.16:07
Xifaniehobgoblin: how do you set the right monitor at the bottom instead of the top?16:08
w30DJzee, normally I don't use the terminal16:09
Xifanienevermind, I just had to press enter >_<16:09
hobgoblinXifanie: in the settings thing just grab them and move them about16:09
hobgoblinor that :)16:09
DJzeeThat's what I'm doing. Everytime I run update manager lately I get a untrusted package error16:09
Xifaniethat's odd, it wouldn't let me before16:09
Xifaniemaybe I tried before setting to absolute16:09
hobgoblinthat would do it I think Xifanie16:10
Xifanienow what? I restart? I saved the settings but I can't apply them right now16:10
DJzeeW30: I hope this clears the error I'm getting16:10
DJzeew30: what distro are u running16:11
hobgoblinXifanie: did you save to x conf file?16:11
Xifanieyes16:11
hobgoblinXifanie: reboot then - I usually have a look at xorg.conf to make sure it's done it though      cat /etc/X11/xorg.conf16:12
w30DJzee, the command line has flags to repair messed up updates depending on what happened. I am no expert on what tod do though.16:12
w30DJzee, I am running 12.04 Xubuntu16:13
Xifanieseems to be fine16:13
Xifanierebooting...16:13
DJzeew30: Hows 12.04? I'm gonna let the terminal do the updates then go from there16:14
w30DJzee, seems fine except it broke my Emerald binarys.16:15
Xifanienice, it's working fine now :)16:16
hobgoblinwoohoo16:16
w30DJzee, I need an Emerald that works for 12.0416:16
XifanieI'll try disabling and re-enabling my 2nd monitor16:16
GridCubew30, well, thats to be expected, being emerald deprecated, it means no one updates it16:16
Xifanie...my bad, it's set as one now16:16
w30DJzee, it seg faults after 21.04 upgrade.16:16
DJzeew30: hmmmm16:17
hobgoblinXifanie: maybe you wanted seperate x screens16:17
Xifaniemaybe...16:18
Xifaniebecause I can't see myself playing fullscreen games this way16:18
Xifanienot that I'm a big gamer or anything16:18
w30GridCube, I know, but I drove a '56 GMC pickup through the 1980's. I can't change I guess.\16:18
hobgoblinI'm not at all16:18
w30GridCube, but I know how to code for a '56 GMC. heh!16:20
XifanieI hope this will work... rebooting16:20
GridCube:) then you might have to learn to compile and configure it by hand, because, you know if you have an old car you need a mechanic that actually understands it and pieces that you cant really get everywhere16:21
drcnah...trade it in on a new model every six months.16:21
w30drc, just lease a Mac OSX 1016:22
GridCubedrc, :P well thats updating amirite16:23
drcw30: leasing a mac is like renting beer :)16:24
Xifanieoh this is awesome16:25
hobgoblinXifanie: sorted?16:26
drcmust be working :)16:26
Xifanieyep :) fullscreen game only spawning on my left screen16:26
XifanieI just moved my swapped my panels from one screen to the other16:26
Xifanieand on/off on monitor button doesn't cause any issues16:26
hobgoblingood16:26
Xifaniethank you so much hobgoblin and ochosi16:27
szerzeteshi! I have a problem with login screen. I install ati Radeon Mobility x1600 driver from amd, and when I restart the laptop, it not load the login sceen, only the tty1.16:27
szerzetesAfter I loged in, and type: sudo service lightdm start, the lightdm starts and work fine16:27
szerzetesI use Xubuntu 12.0416:27
hobgoblinXifanie: glad I could help - not that I did much :)16:29
Xifaniewow ok, this isn't working as good as I expected16:31
Xifaniethey're really two individual desktops... I can't move an app from one desktop to the other16:32
hobgoblinnope - for that you need twinview ...16:33
Xifaniedarnit >_<16:33
hobgoblinXifanie: what are you trying to actually achieve other than the mysterious swapping issue16:33
Xifaniejust being able to play fullscreen without the game spawning on my two screens16:34
hobgoblinXifanie: I have full screen apps here - but only on the screen they are on16:35
XifanieI wish...16:35
hobgoblinbut I don't play games - maybe they are trying to use the desktop16:35
Xifanieapparently so16:36
GridCubeXifanie, but if you use two monitors cant you just ctrl-alt-f7/8 to the two instances?16:37
Xifaniealright, because I didn't reboot, I changed to Twinview and my mouse cursor was sent into oblivison16:37
XifanieAnd I can't even read this chat... lol...16:37
hobgoblinI'd use soemthing like devilspie to send it to a specfic screen16:40
Xifanieoh crap, I forgot to switch back my panels and now they're gone16:40
GridCubelol16:40
hobgoblinthey aren't gone - you just can't see them :)16:40
Xifaniegone.. from my sight of view!16:41
hobgoblingorn - all gorn16:41
hobgoblinXifanie: so are you now using twinview?16:42
Xifanieright now yes16:42
hobgoblinXifanie: so now you are more or less ok with the original issue - which has got you a couple of new ones16:44
Xifanie:D16:44
Xifanieyaaay16:44
hobgoblinlol16:44
Xifaniethis always happens with me16:44
Xifaniebut really where the hell are those panels...16:45
hobgoblinI'd either reset the panels - but that would lose everything or just play with nvidia-settings sdo you can see them - move them and then put nvidia back16:45
hobgoblinI lost one of mine ... are the screens the same size?16:46
XifanieI guess16:46
Xifanieno16:46
Xifanie1440x900 and 1024x76816:46
hobgoblinthat was my issue - was the panel at the top or bottom - if it was say at the bottom and you had the top edges matching - you'd not see panel as it would be below the screen16:47
Xifanieone at the top and the other at the left16:47
GridCubeyou cant xrandr -s resxres16:48
GridCube?16:48
Xifanieand what does that do?16:49
GridCubesets the screen to resxres16:49
GridCubeyou change res by the numbers you want ofcourse16:49
XifanieI don't see how that would help me :/16:49
GridCubewell, your panels will be visible?16:51
martinphonehow do I configure xubuntu to route every internet connection to a proxy?16:51
GridCube!proxy martinphone16:52
GridCube!proxy | martinphone16:52
ubottumartinphone: Several Ubuntu channels prohibit access from open proxies and other anonymous connections due to a high level of abuse. The supported ways to hide your IP address on freenode are to use !Tor or get a !cloak16:52
GridCubeno thats not what i wanted ubottu16:52
martinphonelol16:53
astraljavamartinphone: export http_proxy=http://proxy:port16:53
GridCubemartinphone, you need to set up a global variable like export http_proxy=http://proxy.com:port/16:53
astraljavamartinphone: Also, https_proxy similarly.16:53
* GridCube that doesnt help me to use apt-get trhough a proxy tho, not eveny launching like http_proxy=proxy:port sudo apt-get16:54
astraljavaGridCube: apt-get has it's own conf file16:55
GridCubei see16:55
martinphonegiving it a try...16:55
astraljavaGridCube: You write to /etc/apt/apt.conf a line something like Acquire::http::Proxy "http://yourproxyaddress:proxyport";16:56
martinphonel16:57
astraljavaGridCube: Although some docs seem to indicate the env variable ought to work, too. But that should _definitely_ work.16:57
Xifanieyay! 2 reboots later I have my panels back16:58
StormStrikesGridCube:  I thought I would pop back on here and tell you that I figured out why I could not write to a share folder from my printer scans.17:27
GridCube:D17:32
GridCubewhy not?17:32
StormStrikesGridCube: BleachBit apparently wipes out some files you need for such stuff :-(17:34
GridCubemmmhm, so i wasnt xubuntu's fault?17:34
GridCube:)17:34
StormStrikesNo.  It was all mine.  I remember when I first installed Xubuntu I set up that folder and got no warnings or anything but never tried to scan to it.  But it also gave me no warnings about no write permissions.  So my thoughts centered around it being a setting somewhere.  It was in a sense, in that it was completely missing it all.17:36
StormStrikesSo I did a fresh install again, tested the folder and it worked.  After that I was able to isolate it to running bleachbit, which I will never do again, LOL17:36
GridCube:D17:37
GridCubegood to know17:37
StormStrikesYes.  I thought it would help keep the system clean.  It does, by wiping anything out that it supposes you dont need.  It throws the baby out with the bathwater.17:38
GridCubehahaha :) well now go spread the word: xubuntu is awesome17:39
GridCube:P17:39
GridCubei never actually configured samba, so i couldnt relly guide you back then :) im glad that you figure it out17:39
StormStrikesI never gave up on that concept, it was just incredibly frustrating as everything seemed to point to it being an xubuntu issue.  It was so easy to do in Ubuntu.  But with with the Samba gui, its just as easy to do on Xubuntu if you dont wipe out the needed stuff.17:40
GridCube:D17:40
StormStrikesI do want to make sure I abundantly say thank you for the help you did give and the patience in trying to help out.17:41
GridCube:) dont worry, StormStrikes, giving back to the community its nice ennough, and thank you for coming back and explaining the issue, now if someone else comes with a similar problem i know a new aproach ot fix it17:51
StormStrikesNo problem.  After I get done with all the final configurations, bleachbit is getting uninstalled.17:52
GridCube:)17:54
StormStrikesBefore I leave to work on the configs a bit more, may I ask if there is a common resource or documentation on using exo-open and stuff like that?17:55
GridCubethere might, but i dont know, knome might17:57
GridCubeor maybe ochosi17:58
StormStrikesOkay.  I will check with them when I see them active.17:59
GridCube:)17:59
jzblHi, just installed xubuntu 12.04, haven't used ubuntu-like systems since last LTS. Can someone provide a hint on how I can install Sun/Oracle Java JRE and JDK?18:16
xubuntu633How to install xubuntu 12.04 with USB Flesh?18:17
jzblxubuntu633: just download the iso image and use unetbootin tool (works on windows, linux and macosx)18:17
jzblxubuntu633: I have installed the system I am running now this way18:18
xubuntu633thank you18:19
jzbly.w.18:20
Marzatajzbl: java 7?18:30
jzblbest would be 1.6.x18:30
jzblwhatever is the newest one, I already skipped through the docs on "ubuntu" wiki docs18:31
jzblwhat is the best method to install java. I don't want to use some untrusted PPA or install it manually18:31
jzblany way to make it at least half automatic?18:32
baizoni use openjdk18:32
drcjzbl: Go back and <read> the docs, not<skip through> them...you probably would not have to ask question.18:33
GridCubejzbl, there are some ppa's around18:33
jzblOk guys, let me say this in another way, can I add / enable some repo that will allow me to do : apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-jdk18:35
jzblor I have to put more effort to it ;)18:35
Pici!java18:36
ubottuTo just use java you need a "Java Runtime Environment" (JRE) and/or a browser plugin. If that is not sufficient you will need a "Java Development Kit" (JDK) aka "Software  Development Kit" (SDK).  Please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Java about how to install one of three current implementations.18:36
jzbland I don't want to use some random ppa that won't be updated...18:36
jzblPici: will check the scripts, will come back if they won't work18:37
jzblbeware ;)18:37
* drc shakes in my boots...with laughter18:38
cythesReal quick how do I get windows to group together?18:38
drccYmen: App Menu>Settings>Settings Manager>Window Manager>Advanced>Windows Snapping....is this what you want?18:40
drcoops cythes ^^18:41
cythesNo, I mean if I have more then one chrome running it stacks them up so it only takes up one slot on the taskbar.18:41
cythesI know it can be done since I have done it in xubuntu before (Actually about 2 hours ago when I just installed it again)18:43
drcRight Mouse click on Windows Buttons>Properties18:43
cythesBingo drc Thanks :)18:43
drcnp18:43
cythesNow I must install vlc and then reboot.18:44

jzblyawn18:50
DebolazHow are notifications handled in xubuntu? Similar to Ubuntu, or are they more the annoying clickable kind?19:21
xubuntu167hello19:22
baizondont know how ubuntu handles it19:22
baizonbut indicator is taken from ubuntu :)19:22
drcAnnoying clickable...but you can customize the time they stay up...Apps Menu>Settings>Settings Manager>Notifications19:23
xubuntu167having a semi little issue with my remote xubuntu setup.  I currently can ssh & rdp via (rdp (from win7) to xubuntu (xrdp/vino)) but I can't seem to find anything on how to change the resolution of the session.  In the .rdp file on windows the resolution is set @ 1440x900, however the screen or session from the xubuntu machine is 1024x768.  is there any way to force the resolution to 1440x900?19:27
dipnlikhi. how can I create one-click shortcuts for frequently used apps?20:13
drcdipnlik: App Menu>Settings>Settings Manager>Keyboard>App Shortcuts20:16
drcOr did you mean mouse clicks?20:17
dipnlikdrc: yeah, i meant mouse clicks20:17
drcas in add to the menu20:17
drc?20:17
dipnlikpreferably to the side of the menu20:17
drcApp Menu>Settings>Main Menu20:18
dipnlikor a dock at the sides of the screen or the bottom20:18
drcRight Click on panel, Panel Preferences...add a panel.  Then right click on panel, choose the panel and Add Items (I have only one panel so I can't give exact directions)20:20
drcSo...take your pick, Menu or Panel :)20:21
dipnlikdrc: awesome, will spend a few minutes there. thanks!20:21
dipnlikhaha, I just noticed there's a dock at the bottom of the screen (i'm running xubuntu on a vm in a window, so it's hard to hit screen edges)20:22
drcyeah, it's on auto hide, so just add a launcher to that and point it to the app you want.20:23
drcyou can take it off auto hide, it's panel 2 in the panel prefs20:24
dipnlikdrc: ok, thank you20:25
drcoh...dipnlik:  This is 4.8 (I forgot)...you can just grab an icon/app off the menu and drag it to the panel...much easier than make a new one.20:38
dipnlikdrc: haha, definitely easier, good to know20:45
cypher-neoXifanie, Hello. How are the monitors? Still working correctly with no switchups?21:30
Xifanieyep, all working fine :) My problem with World of Goo comes from the game badly designed21:49
