apacheloggerbdmurray: pingy00:03
bdmurrayapachelogger: hi00:03
apacheloggerbdmurray: aloha, could you please add ~kubotu to bugcontrol, it's our kubuntu bot user00:04
micahghrm?00:05
micahgwhy should a bot be in bug control00:05
micahgin fact, I'd veto that00:05
apacheloggermicahg: newpackage/newversion -> importance = whislist00:05
apacheloggermicahg: how so?00:05
micahgapachelogger: and access to private bugs, which makes public disclosure easier00:05
apacheloggermicahg: we don't have facilities to query bugs00:06
apacheloggernor would we00:06
micahgapachelogger: kubotu doesn't look up bug titles?00:06
apacheloggerno00:06
apacheloggerubottu does that already00:06
micahgapachelogger: hrm, I guess if you have tight control over it, I guess that's fine (i.e. non-bug control people can't access the bot serverside or have the LP credentials for it)00:10
apacheloggerit is on the same server as ubottu, so I doubt that should be a problem00:10
micahgapachelogger: ubottu doesn't have bug control and that is a problem00:12
micahgnot all IRC ops have bug control access00:12
* micahg wonders who can access that server00:12
micahgapachelogger: I would think a solution might be to have the bot tag and then you can have a bdmurray bot set the importance for you00:13
bdmurraynew package ones, if tagged needs-packaging, will be auto wishlisted as it is00:14
apacheloggerthat is what prompted me asking :P00:15
* apachelogger would not give a rats booty otherwise :P00:15
bdmurraynew version ones makes sense for ubuntu too, so if we just settle on a tag my bot could do that too00:15
micahgbdmurray: I'm wondering if we should just auto wishlist upgrade-software-version tagged bugs as well00:15
bdmurraymicahg: is that the right tag?  I forgot00:16
micahgbdmurray: I added it to LP, we decided on it a while back00:16
bdmurrayokay, well wishlist makes sense to me00:17
micahgapachelogger: does that ^^ work for you (kubotu tags upgrade-software-version and bdmurray's bot wishlists)?00:17
apacheloggeralready doing00:17
apacheloggercreates two mails though00:17
bdmurrayI'm sure everybody already filters my bot's email ;-)00:18
micahgtrue, but the people subscribed to enough packages to have it make a difference are already drowning in mail00:19
apacheloggerhehe, good point00:21
brokenfingersWait, if a bug appeers not to be a problem anymore, set it to Fix Released or Incomplete?00:43
micahgdepends, if the fix is unknown, invalid, if it is known fix released00:45
micahgif you think it might work for you and not someone else, incomplete00:46
brokenfingersmicahg: Well, bug 814826 comment 13 Someone set it to Incomplete, "because it doesn't seem to happen in current Precise". I leave it, or change to FixRel?00:52
ubot2`Launchpad bug 814826 in bamf "bamfdaemon crashed with SIGSEGV in gdk_display_get_event()" [Critical,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/81482600:52
micahgbrokenfingers: trevino is unity hacker, I'd go with him on this00:55
brokenfingersmicahg: Okay. Thank you, and sorry about my horrible "lo Ciento" mixup. :)00:56
micahgbrokenfingers: no problema00:56

bullgard6What article describes well the function of the  Ubuntu crash database submission daemon  »whoopsie«? "This program submits crash reports back to an Ubuntu server," is too short a description.06:47
jibelbullgard6, the spec at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ErrorTracker describes it well07:13
bullgard6jibel: This is good stuff. I will need a while to digest it. -- Thank you for your help. --  Does using whoopsie dispense with installing error diagnostic symbols, for example the package »banshee-dbg«?07:23
jibelbullgard6, if you want to retrace a crash locally you'll need debugging symbols, otherwise upload the report and let the retracers do their job07:35
bullgard6jibel: Thank you for advising.07:44

bullgard6https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ErrorTracker: "The apport client will write a .upload file alongside a .crash file to indicate that the crash should be sent to the crash database." I had an Evince crash. I find the files  /var/crash/_usr_bin_evince.1000.crash  and /var/crash/ _usr_bin_evince.1000.upload. Are this the two files that  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ErrorTracker: talks about?09:49

xclusive585micahg: When you have time do a swing by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/boinc/+bug/1009536/comments/5 and read that last comment I posted. I feel we are kind-of at a standstill on the issue. Also maybe you could post a link to your PPA or email it to me? (I'm curious if that package of Boinc you built for your PPA and Quantal was debians SID 7.0.27)17:23
