[00:29] hello i just tried to install ia32-libs and it says the following http://pastebin.com/bhLKY6rm ia32-libs-multiarch also is not listed in synaptic i have tried multiple mirrors. any help would be appreciated [00:31] i have tried sudo apt-get -f install [00:31] does no good [08:35] Hi! I used the netinstall to build a rt-kernel studio box [08:35] *but* it came standard with pulseaudio. [08:36] Can i safely remove pulseaudio and will jack take over? [08:53] ekur: You don't need to remove pulseaudio to use jack [08:54] If you don't want to use the jack to pulse bridge, just uninstall pulseaudio-jack-module [08:54] Sorry, pulseaudio-module-jack [08:54] You'll probably need to restart pulseaudio after that [08:55] ekur: Have you tried linux-lowlatency, which is default for Ubuntu Studio? [08:55] For many, it is as fast as -rt === AlanChicken is now known as alanbell === alanbell is now known as AlanBell [10:13] ailo; i think im using -rt [10:14] im sure lowlatency would be just fine but rt was in the repo's as a meta-package [10:14] (it might even be lowlatency labeled as -rt in the package name!) [10:14] does ubuntustudio normally come with jack and pulseaudio? or only jack [13:19] ekur: There's no -rt kernel in the Ubuntu repo, so if you have it, you must have added a different repo [13:20] Pulseaudio is standard on Ubuntu Studio, yes. And it plays pretty well with jack [13:20] The pulsaudio -> jack bridge is not ultimate if you need really low latencies, but in this situation, you'll probably not need the bridge anyway [13:21] If you don't use the bridge, jack will suspend pulseaudio whenever you set jack to use the same device as pulseaudio [13:28] I don't recommend removing pulseaudio anyway. There's no gain in doing that. [14:00] alright ailo thats very clear [14:00] Thank you [14:00] I will let pulse stay up, but remove the bridge === TheMaster is now known as Unit193 [23:15] hello [23:15] I have installed [23:15] ubuntu studio into my ubuntu precise [23:16] but I guess that [23:16] I don't have the ubuntu studio kernel installed, [23:16] and is the defalut one [23:16] uname -a gives me: Linux ubuntu 3.2.0-24-generic-pae #39-Ubuntu SMP Mon May 21 18:54:21 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux [23:17] bun when I installed with sudo apt-get add stuff eg. sudo apt-get install ubuntustudio-desktop [23:17] I have seen on screen [23:17] "linux rt headers or linux low latency headers" [23:18] what is the name of the ubuntu studio defalut kernel?
