tjaaltonRAOF: is 1.12 ready to enter quantal?07:42
tjaaltonor is it best left for after the weekend..07:43
RAOFtjaalton: You might want to try “apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-core” ☺07:44
tjaaltonRAOF: ah :)07:44
tjaaltonand I might want to try to actually upgrade to quantal too..07:44
RAOFIt got shunted out after the A2 freeze ended.07:44
tjaaltonoh07:44
tjaaltonhmm, I uploaded -synaptics to proposed07:45
tjaaltonprobably should've pushed it straight to quantal then, especially since it b-depends on 1.1207:45
tjaaltonso it would've just waited if it wasn't available07:45
mlankhorstmorning P)07:46
jcristauheya08:15
jcristauhttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/785368 seems to affect lucid, would you consider fixing it there?08:16
ubottuLaunchpad bug 785368 in mesa (Ubuntu) "dri not working with ltsp on natty" [Medium,Fix released]08:16
* jcristau LD_PRELOADs the squeeze libGL for now.08:20
tjaaltondon't see why not. have you tested the patch?08:23
jcristauwell i fixed it in squeeze last september08:24
tjaaltonok08:26
jcristauhttp://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-xorg/lib/mesa.git;a=blob;f=debian/patches/08_glx-ignore-BadRequest-errors-from-DRI2Connect.diff;h=ab0f6701c550c0bd9453b68284624507e070bbbe;hb=40f332c65bf0ae454c9c0a07d3e87c671422cde0 should apply to lucid without too much trouble08:27
tjaaltoni've added a lucid task08:27
jcristausince they're both on 7.7.108:27
mlankhorstlucid still supported? :(08:30
tjaaltona year to go08:30
tjaaltonor 10 months08:30
mlankhorstguess it makes sense for transitioning over to precise08:31
tjaaltonin this case the fix is known, but for bugs where you'd need to chase down commits.. nah08:31
tjaaltonnearly closed bug 1018706 due to that08:32
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1018706 in xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) "Intel X4500 display driver crashes X when loading an URL in Firefox" [Undecided,Incomplete] https://launchpad.net/bugs/101870608:32
tjaaltonhmm, for cases like this tags would be nice08:33
tjaaltonguess I'll just pull the source package08:34
mlankhorstwell fortunately we would have the backported stack next time we could point to08:34
tjaaltonright08:34
mlankhorstalthough I hope we won't port the lts+1 to previous lts right?08:38
tjaaltonnono :)08:38
tjaalton46.3 GiB will be downloaded into archive.08:38
tjaaltonDownloading 37877 archive files using 10 threads...08:38
tjaaltonmirroring sid takes time..08:39
tjaaltonjust for sbuild :)08:39
tjaaltonanyone got 'parallel=n' working with sbuild?08:53
tjaaltonit doesn't honor DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS here08:53
RAOFIt worked last time I tried it?08:56
RAOFOh!08:56
RAOFsbuild -j508:56
mlankhorstmorning08:56
tjaaltonRAOF: oh.. thanks08:56
tjaaltonthe build environment does get DEB_BUILD_OPIONS but they're not used08:57
tjaaltonanyway, glad if this works08:57
mlankhorstso mess up TTM today or not? :)08:58
mlankhorstdeadlock problem was solved by delayed fput interestingly enough, so next kernel08:59
tjaaltonjcristau: uploaded09:00
tjaaltonbuild-tested09:00
jcristautjaalton: awesome, thanks a lot09:00
jcristaui can glxinfo-test an amd64 libgl1-mesa-glx deb once it's built09:01
mlankhorstRAOF: it's still useful to work on the prime stuff right? Feels like I'm at my third attempt from scratch now09:02
tjaaltonyeah, needs someone (*cough* RAOF *cough*) to accept it to proposed09:02
jcristausneaky :)09:03
mlankhorstbut at this point I learned all the requirements to prevent deadlocks, the locking one will be solved in 3.6, none of the dma-buf operations except import/export/destroy may take another lock to prevent deadlocks.09:05
mlankhorstdestroy will potentially deadlock on current kernels but the work from https://lwn.net/Articles/494158/ will cause it to be fixed without needing any additional code :)09:06
tjaaltonmeh, -j isn't settable in .sbuildrc09:33
tjaaltontime for an alias then09:34
mlankhorsttjaalton: or fix sbuild?09:46
jcristauincidentally:09:47
jcristau00:31 < rleigh> I'm working an sbuild upload prior to the freeze.  I've pushed fixes for #629109, #663089, #665215, #665372, #673676, #675861 and #676475 09:47
jcristau                tonight.09:47
jcristau00:32 < rleigh> I'll look at #529281, #637931, #641065, #662785, #673009, #674669 and #676834 tomorrow evening.09:47
jcristau00:32 < rleigh> If there's anything else you'd like looking into for wheezy, please let me know!09:47
jcristau:)09:47
tjaaltonjcristau: oh :)09:51
tjaaltonthough looks like -j doesn't work either09:57
tjaaltonwth09:57
tjaaltonoh it's the package that's faulty10:00
tjaaltonstill, wth :)10:01
tjaaltonhmm so the package needs the NUMJOBS/MAKEFLAGS stuff, even if using dh?10:02
tjaaltonoh, --parallel10:04
tjaaltonfinally :)10:08
tjaaltonthough in this case libtool wasn't happy in the end10:12
bjsnidertjaalton, unfortunately, the .27 kernel doesn't fix 999910 for me. still crashes about once a day13:25
tjaaltonbjsnider: oh..13:26
tjaaltonyou still get a hard hang and can't get to the machine remotely?13:27
bjsniderright13:28
tjaaltonhas any mainline kernel worked?13:28
tjaaltonand is it a laptop or desktop?13:28
bjsniderdesktop13:28
tjaaltonok13:28
bjsnideri just built it a week ago13:29
tjaaltonand using just the igp?13:29
bjsnideri am going to have to try the latest kernel13:29
bjsnideryep, just the ivybridge chip13:29
tjaaltonok, cool13:29
bjsniderwhat kernel were you pulling code from?13:30
tjaaltonthe workaround was from 3.3-rc113:30
tjaaltonbut 3.3.x wasn't stable, so it regressed there somehow13:31
tjaalton3.4-rc1 was stable again13:31
bjsnideralrigth i'll just grab whatever linus released most recently13:31
bjsniderand report whether it fixed the issue13:31
bjsniderlater today that is13:31
tjaaltoncool13:31
tjaaltonwell, give it some time. also, can you reproduce it faster by running the silly gzip/glxgears -script?13:35
johanbrHi. The linux-image-3.5.0-2-generic kernel in xorg-edgers for precise breaks sound for me (pulseaudio hangs). Is this a known problem?13:35
tjaaltonjohanbr: no idea, but check http://www.theorangenotebook.com/2012/06/call-for-testing-1210-kernel-on-1204.html13:36
tjaaltonprobably would need to purge edgers first13:37
johanbrtjaalton, ahh, thank you, I'll see if that kernel works better13:38
tjaaltonit's the same kernel13:38
tjaaltonthe point was that ther's a procedure for reporting issues..13:39
tjaalton+e13:39
johanbroh :)13:40
johanbrthen I'll try reporting the issue :)13:40
tjaaltongood :)13:41
bjsnidertjaalton, you said in the bug report that you were git bisecting looking for the commit that stabilizes the intel driver, but isn't that git bisect in reverse? isn't it usually that y ou're looking backwards to find the regression?14:07
tjaaltonbjsnider: i think it works both ways. and I bumped to this commit by accident, by going through the commit list14:13
tjaaltondidn't get to git-bisect at all, which was a relief14:13
=== cnd` is now known as cnd
=== yofel_ is now known as yofel

tjaaltonqdb: file a bug with 'ubuntu-bug xorg'16:36
tjaaltonahh16:36
mlankhorstpowervr? Ouch..16:36
tjaaltonyeah don't bother, i guess :/16:37
qdbwait , this is about ubuntu quantal16:37
qdbi copied this from #ubuntu+116:37
tjaaltondoes precise work?16:37
qdbolder versions do not have gma 3600 driver enabled16:37
tjaaltonthen you'd be better off reporting it upstream i think16:38
tjaaltonis it cedartrail?16:38
mlankhorstdo they still ship new machines with powervr? 16:38
tjaaltonyeah16:38
tjaaltonCDV..16:38
mlankhorst:S16:38
tjaaltonah, so it is cedartrail16:39
tjaaltonif wikipedia is to be trusteed16:39
tjaalton-e16:39
Sarvattqdb: try adding GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=text to /etc/default/grub, sudo update-grub and reboot, that'll get rid of vt.handoff=716:44
Sarvatt(get rid of nomodeset if you still have it there too at the same time)16:46
brycehSarvatt, hey did you get a chance to turn on SNA in edgers?17:09
Sarvattbryceh: by default? its on so you can pick it in xorg.conf, didn't make it default17:11
Sarvatti'll turn it on by default now17:11
Sarvattand put a big note on the ppa page about how to change it back (didn't work right here yesterday)17:12
Sarvattok its up now in quantal17:13
brycehthanks17:32
* mlankhorst prepares for incoming complaints ;)18:09
mlankhorsthttp://littlebigdetails.com/post/20286226116/mac-osx-the-world-map-displayed-within-the-data18:13
mlankhorstbryceh: so erm what is the official solution for powervr machines, don't support? :S18:29
qdbthank you , i ll try18:30
brycehmlankhorst, right no support18:30
tjaaltonthere's some modesetting support in the kernel but that's it18:32
mlankhorsttjaalton: yeah if pandaboard is powervr too I can imagine the whole no support thing, corrupts and crashes without doing anything18:35
mlankhorstpretty sure that changing resolution twice caused a kernel panic.18:38
qdbSarvatt, it works, thank you18:42
tjaaltonwha.. managed to get a soft cpu lock, audio on a loop, display frozen, could ssh in20:20
tjaaltonthen after a minute or so business as usual20:20
tjaaltonno gpu reset20:20
bjsnidertjaalton, with the ivybridge chip?20:45
tjaaltonbjsnider: yes20:48
bjsnideri'll try waiting a minute next time20:48
tjaaltoni had accidentally minimized all windows via alt-tabbing, and then I restored them by going through all the workspaces, and after restoring one fullscreen window it froze20:49
bjsnideryou're using the .27 kernel?20:49
tjaaltonno, mine (-26 plus the three commits)20:51
tjaaltonaka -9020:52
brycehmlankhorst, did you see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/1019131 ?21:08
ubottuLaunchpad bug 1019131 in mesa (Ubuntu) "vsync should be enabled by default for nvidia" [Undecided,New]21:08
mlankhorstshouldn't that be done by compiz?21:32
brycehdunno21:33
Sarvattddx it looks like, GLXVblank wasn't enabled by default because it needed a newish kernel in 2010 but safe to safe it could be now?21:35
bjsniderit needs to be done in xorg.conf for nouveau21:36
Sarvatthttp://cgit.freedesktop.org/nouveau/xf86-video-nouveau/commit/?id=70f0d2c886ceaa965ca4864788f4dd8e8f757a9221:36
mlankhorstmight be21:36
mlankhorstbut im not sure i think calim was working on nvc0 for that21:37
Sarvattsafe to say it could be rather21:37
mlankhorstbut I'm all for enabling vsync, real 3d is going to have to wait for a bit22:03
