[10:02] Good morning. [10:04] Morning [10:06] hey rmg51 [10:06] How goes? [10:10] goes good so far [10:11] getting ready to go food shopping [11:08] morning everyone [11:08] woke up and read the LOOONG backlog since 7:30pm last night. Now breakfast time. [11:28] I got home last night to discover than linux had apparently crashed, though I could still hear the fan going. Couldn't find anything in the logs after rebooting. [11:28] Also I'd accidently broken logging in qmail, so I had to do a restore from my backups to fix that. [11:28] Good times. [11:29] nice to hear of your good times. So much simpler lifestyle than 7 days prior to Thesis completion. [11:30] waltman: did you go to the DDG thing? [11:30] Yes. I discovered this after I got home from that. [11:32] Did you lost anything? [11:32] what is DDG thing ? [11:33] Not that I can tell. It was mostly trying to figure out why qmail wasn't logging. [11:33] http://act.yapc.eu/ddg2012/ [11:34] Nothing fun on woot. [11:34] one of these days I'm going to get a roku [11:35] waltman: went to andys yesterday. [11:35] bacon egg and cheese on kaiser. [11:35] and free cookies! [11:36] yay! [11:38] This random crash has me a little worried. [11:38] I'm going to blame the hp printer driver I tried to install the other day. [11:54] printer? [11:59] Cups seems very unstable. I had my printer working a few weeks ago, but after a cups update it was failing again. [12:00] I tried installing the latest hplip drivers, which didn't play well with some other things in my ~/install directory. [12:01] and not to mention didn't get my printer working, either. [12:02] hplip is a self-extracting installer, and it doesn't have the courtesy to self-extract in into a new subdirectory. [12:02] The first thing it does is change permissions on */* [12:04] printers shoulnd't be able to crash machines :( [12:04] waltman: I got my fancy new DL360 yesterday. [12:04] yay [12:04] For vmware. [12:04] now I need memory. [12:05] JonathanD: I agree. I just kind of want it to be that instead of something else failing on the box. [12:05] Yeah. [12:05] The lack of anything in the logs is worrying. [12:08] Speaking of possible causes of crashes, there's a leap second tonight! [13:54] leap second! my watch STILL wont be right, its will still be 5:59 too fast. [20:42] http://serverfault.com/questions/403732/anyone-else-experiencing-high-rates-of-linux-server-crashes-today # I wonder if this explains my crash last night...
