[06:13] morning! [06:13] Aloha! [08:57] finally to a point where I can check if things explode or not :) [16:52] Sarvatt, heard any complaints so far about switching on SNA? [16:53] bryceh: err, it hasnt been usable here on any machine, but no direct complaints outside of mine :) [16:53] Sarvatt, is that due to sna or edgers or something else? [16:53] every daily update fixes one bug and introduces another [16:53] SNA [16:53] hrm [16:54] Sarvatt, should we hold off on enabling it then? [16:54] uxa is fine [16:54] bryceh: until 2.20 for sure, it usually stabilizes for releases [16:54] Sarvatt: no surprises there :-) [16:54] even ickle said he's holding off recommending people using it until 2.20 [16:55] wow [16:55] I'm having fun deadlocking atm :P [16:55] Sarvatt: just waiting for 2.20.0 before going nuts with people trying it ;-) [16:55] Sarvatt, ok thanks. [16:56] Sarvatt, is it worthwhile for us to keep testing it, or should we just drop consideration of it until 2.20? [16:56] Sarvatt, and have you heard any eta on 2.20? [16:56] in ubuntu directly? [16:57] yeah [16:59] bryceh: they usually do it right before mesa releases for their quarterly stuff, asking ickle now though [17:00] 2.19 was 2 months ago, and looks like they go 2-4 months per release, so guessing it'll appear within the quantal development timeframe [17:01] bryceh: errr [17:01] however if it's so churny in edgers now, I'm wondering if it's just not going to be stable enough for us. [17:01] so ickle is saying soon, very soon, as soon as he has a build fix for hotplug server changes [17:01] guess i better start filing some bugs :) [17:02] no kidding [17:02] well, we can decide at alpha3. But we got bit adopting the new 2d accel architectures too early the last two times [17:03] totally, SNA seems totally crazy to me with how much churn it has still every single day [17:03] yeah when you said that, it flipped a warning flag to me [17:06] Sarvatt, hmm I guess the real question is, should we consider it FAILED for the 1-week edgers test, and cancel the alpha2-alpha3 testing, or should we give it another week in edgers, or...? [17:07] I've got edgers installed on a couple of my machines and haven't noticed problems but haven't been using them much this past week [17:08] bryceh: tough call, 2.20 may work better, but I'm firmly in the mindset that just having the xorg.conf option is good enough for now until its more stable [17:09] (and defaulting to UXA) [17:10] Sarvatt, I think that's probably the sanest thing to do [17:12] Sarvatt, would you mind writing up a short description of your week with sna for the blueprint? just mention the types of bugs you've encountered, and that ickle indicated sna wasn't considered ready for wide usage until 2.20? [17:12] sure, digging up the blueprint
