[04:26] how can i disable pulseaudio? [04:32] aaas, how disabled? The bridge can be disabled by unloading the the module. [04:32] I guess I should ask what problem is it causing [04:33] Len-nb im having problems with jack lately and I just want to make sure pulseaudio isn't grabing my sound [04:33] Len-nb so i can blacklist the module? [04:34] aaas, it is not a kernel module [04:35] Len-nb what do you mean by 'unloading the module' [04:35] aaas: pulseaudio-module-jack [04:35] aaas: You can uninstall it [04:36] aaas: That will disable the jack PA bridge [04:36] The way to get it to stop altogether, is to turn off auto respawn in the pulse config and do a pulseaudio --kill a few times [04:36] ailo but no way to really just remove pulseaudio? [04:36] aaas: Why do you want to remove pulseaudio? [04:37] ailo i dont use it, and it's just one more thing that grabs my sound card [04:37] aaas: Follow Len-nb's suggestion above [04:37] ok ill look into it hanks Len-nb ailo [04:39] aaas: /etc/pulse/client.conf [04:39] change: ; autospawn = yes, into ; autospawn = no [04:39] ailo thanks...i assume ill have to kill it at each reboot? [04:39] I think that should do it? and, as said: pulseaudio --kill [04:40] Don't know. I don't usually kill PA [04:40] Don't have problems with it [04:40] Also in setting-> session and startup allows unselecting pulse audio at session start. [04:40] ok thanks [04:40] wait, session and startup? [04:41] this is an ubuntu config? [04:41] it is in the settings manager [04:41] i have 'system settings'... was there something i should have installed? [04:41] Assuming xfce [04:41] ah ok [04:42] im running ubuntu/gnome [04:42] I am not sure what the equiv. would be [04:42] i feel as if the config panels are rather sparse... but ill google [04:43] could do sudo chmod -x pulseaudio [04:43] not sure what other problems That might cause though [04:44] ill keep it in mind, maybe try and find the gui disable first [04:45] aaas: Did you fix realtime privilege settings? [04:45] I'm assuming you've not installed from Ubuntu Studio DVD [04:46] no... just ubuntu... just been having problems exporting with ardour... tried building from source the tools i need (jack2/qjackctl/linuxsampler/qsampler/ardour2 or 3) [04:47] its one of those things: you have a problem in one so you try something else but a different problem arises, etc etc [04:47] aaas: Use gnome-session-properties to adjust auto-start apps [04:47] gnome-session-properties is empty, but i think i know why [04:48] aaas: What is your exact problem, anyway? xruns? [04:48] qsampler has always been buggy for me :( [04:48] alio well it worked fine last night, now it wont export, just gets stuck [04:48] searching everywhere for errors [04:49] So ardour is not exporting mixdowns? [04:49] This should have very little to do with PA [04:49] ailo sorry im not sure what you mean by mixdowns, but it's not exporting...sometimes it just starts for one sec sometimes it doesnt start at all [04:49] yes probably not, but this is now due to the fact that linuxsampler wont start [04:50] so trying to disable PA before reboot [04:50] lsof shows metacity grabbing pcm [04:52] Well, good luck :) [04:53] I quit using linux-sampler because of those difficulties. Building my own with puredata [04:53] puredata? [04:53] It's a graphical programming environment [04:53] yeah if you know an alternative...? [04:53] to linuxsampler [04:53] Not for gig and sfz files, I don't think [04:54] There are a few, but nothing fancy [04:54] I mean, samplers [04:54] ah..yeah i need something that will take my midi keyboard and play gig [04:55] aaas: Someone has written a script for loading samples to linux-sampler [04:56] https://github.com/nilsgey/Lisalo [04:57] ah as an alternative to qsampler? [04:57] yeah [04:57] gigs can be converted/unpacked into wavs [04:58] Don't know how this script works though [04:58] i might try it if i can't get this to work [09:50] hi all [09:50] hey len === ninjah is now known as oceanpiseroo [12:32] hi folks [12:34] I'm really new in the community and would like to explore the linux-possibilities for audio-production [12:35] do anybody have some advise where i could find the best information about this topic? [15:03] Hej! THe new website is awesome! I like it so much! Well done, guys! [15:05] This is to say a big thank you to all of the developers and committers to UbuntuStudio. You're doing a really good job! I'm even thinking on switching to Studio and support you as much as I can. [15:08] Good luck everyone! And enjoy the weekend! ;-) [20:03] Hi again! Today is my 3rd day on ubuntustudio, and today i noticed a very strange thing - when watching youtube videos, all people appear blue! [20:04] in different videos everyhwere you see human skin, it is blue!! anybody else have this? [20:11] im laughing mao - its called the SMURF EFFECT and comes from flash being hardware accelerated :D [20:11] sunz: Yes, we have it. I'm not sure if anyone knows what for, and we probably won't get a fix for it either. [20:11] just right click on a youtube video and turn hardware acceleration in flash settings off, that fixes it [20:12] Hmm... gotta try in a minute. [20:13] still have to reload youtube page for it to take effect [20:14] Ok. [20:20] Yeah it works in Firefox. Funny thing is, though, that in Chrome, people aren't blue anymore by default. [22:46] OK, I tried your trick, but when I get the settings panel up, I can't make any changes. It's like it's locked. And the skin tone is still blue.
