silverarroware developers ever here on the channel?01:40
silverarrowi would love to talk to one01:40
silverarrowwonder how it works01:40
silverarrowthey do a great job even if users like me get majorly frustrated and tired sometimes01:41
Unit193It's a PPC thing, not much they can do.  You can report bugs and all though.01:41
Unit193!bugs01:41
ubottuIf you find a bug in Ubuntu or any of its derivatives, please file a bug using the command « ubuntu-bug <package> » - See https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs for other ways to report bugs.01:41
silverarrowthey can do a lot, gnash and lightspark should run01:42
silverarrowit is even suppose to run with the recommended setup in lubuntu01:42
silverarrowdevelopers do boot up hardware like an ibook and test browser+01:43
Unit193Does it work in Ubuntu? Kubuntu? Xubuntu?  If not, it's not a Lubuntu problem and should be reported to lightspark.01:43
Unit193And not always, no, that's "testers"01:44
silverarrownow you sound like a lovless grammar teacher01:44
Unit193It's just how things work, the packagers and devs can't run every program on every arch.01:45
silverarrowhaha, if you ran the show unit, nothnig would ever happen01:45
Unit193What01:45
Unit193?01:45
silverarrowtrue though01:46
Unit193Do you have a support question?01:46
silverarrowoh yes, which packages are recommended for mplayer to run in browser01:47
silverarrowor rather,  plugin options01:48
Unit193"gecko-mediaplayer" is what I'd say.01:48
silverarrowwhich is default01:48
silverarrowyet it seems to need more tweaking01:48
silverarrowon either pc or ppc01:49

LAChey running free screen recorder but it's telling me Error creating AVI File, why is that?14:26
holsteini would just try creating another file type and see.. you can try running the application from the terminal, LAC , and see if you see any helpful error output14:34
LACholstein: how do i try to run it there and what application do you use to record screen videos?14:37
holsteinLAC: i have had decent luck with gtk-recordmydesktop in the past14:39
holsteinLAC: when you say "how do i try to run it there" i assume you mean, in the terminal14:40
holsteini would open a terminal and issue the command which starts the application you are having issues with... gtk-recordmydesktop for example14:40
LACfor example?14:42
holsteinLAC: yes... for example, if i wanted to run the gtk-recordmydesktop application from the terminal in order to hopefully see some error output there, in the terminal, for troubleshooting purposes as i suggested... i would open the terminal and type gtk-recordmydesktop14:44
holsteinLAC: i dont know what application you are having issues with14:44
LACholstein: thanks his help alot14:45

sev^^hi there, noob looking for some assistance with lubuntu20:08
kanliot hi sev^^20:09
SkippersBoss!ask| sev^^,20:09
ubottusev^^,: Please don't ask to ask a question, simply ask the question (all on ONE line and in the channel, so that others can read and follow it easily). If anyone knows the answer they will most likely reply. :-) See also !patience20:09
sev^^well I'm trying to install some proprietary display drivers for my laptop. Using the 'additional drivers' app displays nothing. And the drivers I have found from the AMD website I am unsure how to install. I can provide a link however20:15
kanliotif additional drivers shows nothing, they might already be installed20:16
sev^^is there any way I can check?20:19
kanliotgo to system profiler and benchmark and look for fglrx under kernel modules20:22
kanliotactually i'm not 100% sure that's the right way20:23
kanliotsorry20:23
Unit193Additional Drivers will have it if it's installed yet or not.20:24
MrChrisDruifAlright, it seems dvdstyler is a simple and workable program for his intentions20:27
MrChrisDruifAs feedback for Unit193 && kanliot20:28
silverarrowdoes anyone know about ffmpeg on 12.04 powerpc build20:28
kanliothi chris20:28
MrChrisDruifHi kanliot20:28
MrChrisDruifsilverarrow; what about it?20:28
silverarrowi am trying to make flash stream on an old ibook20:29
silverarrowwith gnash20:29
silverarrowwhich requires a lot of attention20:29
MrChrisDruifFlash...<_<"20:29
sev^^I wonder because my displayed ram is not 1gb but about 128mb less, which I think is what the gfx card is. When I had an install of XP it displayed 1gb when I had all the correct drivers installed20:29
silverarrowsev^^:  they often do that, show up as a bit less for some reason20:30
MrChrisDruifsev^^; Does the videocard have virtual memory?20:30
kanliotsev^^, we'll try to help ya but you shouldn't worry about it if it's working ok20:30
MrChrisDruifOr is it a integrated videocard?20:31
kanliotone of the good things about linux is the way drivers are installed by default20:33
sev^^yeah to be honest everything is working fine and smoothly. I just wondered whether I could squeeze some more out of this thing. I installed XP through virtual box so I could watch netflix, I have to set the resolution to 640x480 on both XP and Lubuntu in order to get it to just about work. It's fine but just a little annoying20:34
TorpedoSkylineWow, so few Lubuntu users compared to Ubuntu in the IRC channels… Seems so wrong. =\20:36
kanliotactually ubuntu channel is a great place for lubuntu questions20:36
TorpedoSkylineWow really? ok. Good to know. =)20:37
TorpedoSkylineI'm installing Lubuntu for the first time on a personal machine side by side with FreeDOS and it seems to be working well… I've installed it on my sister's HP laptop (which has a Celeron M 1.4GHz and 512MB RAM) and it worked VERY well.20:38
TorpedoSkylineGlad to see a fast Linux GUI compared to others that have gone to pot.20:38
kanlioti chose lubuntu for 1 reason only, the rightmost pixel on scrollbars wasn't working20:44
kanliotin xubuntu, so i couldn't stand xubuntu20:44
MrChrisDruifkanliot; someone has been busy with the header I see?21:04
kanliotyeah i just noticed it now21:04
MrChrisDruifBtw, did someone remember where the settings are for the thumbnails in pcmanfm?21:04
kanliotedit/prefs?21:05
kanliotand did you ever go fedora or infernoOS yet chris?21:05
* MrChrisDruif is currently running Fedora 17 =)21:06

kanliotgnome 3?21:06
MrChrisDruifYup21:06
MrChrisDruifBlistering fast on my machine, not as slow and bloated as Ubuntu is21:06
MrChrisDruifWell, maybe as bloated, but still a lot faster21:06
kanlioti can't remember if i tried gnome 3 or not21:08
MrChrisDruifAnd "Axel" should make that number he finds there as big as possible (as was thinking in the right direction, was I not?)21:08
kanliotahh he'll get more help if he is still confused21:08
kanlioti tried looking at the forum yesterday21:08
kanliotnothing but difficult and wierd questions21:08
kanliotmade me feel not smart21:09
kanlioti think i tried mint 12 or 13 with the "gnome" extensions21:10
Unit193Might want to join #lubuntu-offtopic though.21:11
MrChrisDruifYou might Unit193, I'll just exit this channel. Thanks for the advice.21:24
TorpedoSkylineHow does one install fonts on Lubuntu 12.04?21:48
kanliothttps://wiki.ubuntu.com/Fonts21:53
kanliotthere is a font viewer called charmap21:53
kanliotbut installing it means using pcmanfm and /usr/share/fonts/truetype, fc-cache21:54
TorpedoSkylinelol21:56
TorpedoSkylinealright, thanks kanliot21:56
kanliotnp21:57
felichasHi I'm new to lubuntu. Just switched from laggy ubuntu 12.04 and now my 2005 Pentium M laptop is fast and usable again.23:55
felichasI want to keep it like that, therefore my following question:23:55
felichasI want to install gnucash, but apt-get is informing about many gnome dependencies. If I go ahead and install, will all those libraries always load into memory, or only whenever I use gnucash?23:55
felichaswill they unload from memory when I quit gnucash?23:56
kanliotwhats the package name?23:56
kanliotreally felichas i'm not sure,23:57
felichasgnucash23:57
kanlioti would just install the thing23:57
kanliotsometimes services get installed23:58
kanliotbut i looked at gnucash, it doesn't look that bad23:58
kanliotIMHO23:58
felichasnot with this app. It's like amarok bringing behind all those kde libraries. It would be the same question actually.23:59
