robclarkhmm, Depends: linux-ti-omap4 but it is not installable15:23
robclarkany idea what makes apt-get think something can't be installed?15:23
robclark(this is filesystem started via debootstrap, and yes I've added ti ppa and apt-get update'd)15:23
lilstevieapt will think something is not installable if a condition in the depends cannot be met15:23
robclarkright, but any way I can get more output to hint at what that condition might be?15:24
robclarkI'm guessing something is missing because I started w/ debootstrap15:24
lilsteviepastie the error message?15:24
robclarknot too much informative that I can see, but hang on15:24
robclarklilstevie, http://hastebin.com/gaqedakido.vhdl15:25
robclarkoh, g-damn-it15:26
robclarkI think debootstrap gave me an armel filesystem15:26
lilstevieapt-get install linux-ti-omap415:26
lilsteviesee why linux-ti-omap4 is uninstallable15:26
robclarkI think all stuff in ti ppa is armhf15:26
lilsteviebut that will generally do it15:26
robclarkyeah, debootstrap gave me armel..  ok.. time for take-215:27
lilstevieheh15:31
lilsteviewell yeah, debootstrap is not used these days15:31
robclarkwell, issue was I was doing debootstrap from my oneric filesys..  I did really trust dist-update for the armel->armhf upgrade15:33
robclarkbut I didn't give --arch so I guess it just assumed armel15:34
* robclark didn't even realize there was an armel precise15:34

os_hi17:05
os_can i install ubuntu on a nokia phone which use symbian17:06
os_?17:06
os_any answers?17:12
scientesos_, must be armv717:14
os_yeh it is17:14
scientesoh, symbian is a totally differn't OS17:15
os_i know17:15
scientesso it would be a PITA17:15
os_can i replace it with ubuntu?17:15
scienteswell you would have to be able to modify the bootloader17:15
scientesand you would have to have hardware support in linux for all your devices17:16
scientesand chipset17:16
scientesand arm hardware support really isn't that good17:16
os_:(17:16
scientesi mean there is good support for some hardware, but it isn't like x86, where one kernel you can just boot and see17:16
scientesthere are like a bazillion differn't incompatible kernel configs, so you have to compile for your specific chipset17:17
os_:(17:17
os_ok17:17
scientesand anyways, ubuntu isn't really targeted at super-small devices and those type of input methods, although work is very appreciated17:17
os_ok17:18
os_thanks17:18
scientesif you want to work on arm, i recommend one of theses well-supported boards: http://www.linaro.org/engineering/getting-started/low-cost-development-boards/17:18
scienteshere is a netbook: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/TEGRA/AC100/17:18
os_ok17:19
os_thanks17:19
scienteslinux/ubuntu can be installed in a chroot on android17:19
scientescanonical is even selling it http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/android17:20
scientesso, hardware support is actually pretty good, sans graphics drivers, but its pretty complex--and the way arm works, chips arn't neccicarily compatible, its not like you have a standardized base like x8617:21
LetoThe2ndprobably saying "there is no one-click-installer" would have sufficed. or a plain "no"17:33
LetoThe2nd;P17:33
scientesLetoThe2nd, indeed17:34
