When I originally setup up the box (11.10), I thought it was odd because the connection just worked. I didn't even have to enter a password. Now months later it has stopped working and the provider (dsl extreme) says they do not support ubuntu. [21:43] we have walked through the suggestions here: http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-1471587.html [21:44] but i have not been able to find any help when pppoeconf doesn't work [21:44] it says: [21:46] orry, I scanned 1 interface, but the Access Concentrator of your provider did not respond. Please [21:46] check your network and modem cables. Another reason for the scan failure may also be another running pppoe process which controls the modem. [21:48] how can i tell if there is another "pppoe" process running? === Guest32673 is now known as toz [23:09] volan: i would just give him a router [23:11] can you get it working? sure... can you explain to him how? maybe not... i would have him call the ISP and just say "i dont know what OS i run"
