MrChrisDruifIntroducing Ubuntu TV, New to the Ubuntu TV Team & Stay tuned...13:36
jhodappok, I still don't understand your point13:36
jhodappI don't use Currents13:36
bobweaversucks that we are moving away from qt multimedia13:36
bobweaverlots of cool rendering stuff for that13:37
MrChrisDruifWell, the point is that people might like it to have it in their rss feeds or Currents. OMG!Ubuntu! has an amazing integration with Currents13:37
jhodappMrChrisDruif: oh I see...you just want more refined RSS integration13:37
MrChrisDruifYup13:37
MrChrisDruifCurrents is Google's/Android's answer to RSS feeds13:38
jhodappok13:38
bobweaverMrChrisDruif,  why not just make your own rss ? I know that that sounds different but Hey I am Different13:38
bobweavermeaning make a program for that site13:38
bobweaveropen qtcreator and make a html5 app that is for that site ?13:39
bobweaverbut I could be wrong about all that I am not college trained heck I went to school for the study of mushrooms and mold13:40

bobweaverwhere is the declaritive way to pull in and make shell for unity3d ?13:44
bobweaveror just paint over unity 3d ?13:44
bobweavermeaing the hole thing is going to be in C++ ?13:44
bobweaverthere is going to be no "shell "?13:45
bobweaverjust a altered Unit-3d ?13:45
bobweaverno one ?13:46
jhodappbobweaver: it will be as it is now, converted to Nux plus improvements13:47
bobweaverso no shell13:47

=== bobweaver is now known as JimLahey
danielk22I was looking at today's weekly update and I notice in the Lenses/scopes there is nothing for Home Automation or Weather.14:21
JimLaheydanielk22, that is some thing that is hard because there is no libs yet for the tv14:22
danielk22The HA?14:22
JimLaheypeople like me have a weather QML thingy on there tv but untill there is source that is owned by coninical no one can dev that stuff14:23
JimLaheythe ha ?14:23
danielk22Home Automation14:23
JimLaheyI use libdeclaritive stuff14:23
JimLaheyto get all my info14:24
JimLaheyyou can call any page you like but you must set as readonly14:24
JimLaheyas qml has permission troubles or so that is what I read and see on tutorial14:24
danielk22That library isn't just for location? It gives weather info too?14:25
danielk22ok, reading up on it. Lots of stuff in there.14:26
JimLaheyno no no14:27
JimLaheythere is a hole modual14:27
JimLaheyaka libary14:27
JimLaheyfor qt14:27
danielk22So did you write a weather plugin and then use declarative to get that data into the QML? Or was there a pre-existing weather plugin?14:28
JimLaheyuse data with the qml14:29
JimLaheyQt Mobility14:29
JimLaheyQtDeclarative14:29
JimLaheylocation14:29
danielk22Reading up on things this weekend I wasn't so sure QML would still be used with the NUX rewrite..14:29
JimLaheylibdecallritive loaction + xml reader14:29
JimLaheyit is not14:30
JimLaheyI just am a 3rd party dude that wants a nice tv14:30
danielk22heh :)14:30
JimLaheylike this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ca4XtZ70RPI14:30
danielk22So you are actually running this on your TV already, or on a box?14:30
JimLaheybox14:30
JimLaheyon a projector14:31
JimLaheyI have worte 1000s of lines of qml14:31
JimLaheyto add on to the tv14:31
JimLaheyonce there is nux framework aka unity3d I will do that14:31
JimLaheybut untill then I make kick ass tv in qml14:31
JimLaheythat is all I want is kick ass tv14:32
JimLaheymine even has it so that ubuntu one sees phone when walking into the room14:32
JimLaheysays hi14:32
JimLaheyaskes if want to reload last settigs or torrents ect14:33
JimLaheyI have youtube hulu project tv and also watchseries lens running also14:33
danielk22It would be cool if extensions could be done with some kind of scripting post NUX.14:33
JimLaheythou hulu kicks me over and over again14:33
JimLaheyas they do not like proxy14:33
JimLaheywe need framewoork 1st14:34
JimLaheyand we can not do that well I can not I do not work for Ubuntu14:34
danielk22I've never gotten acceptable performance out of the hulu player for a big screen. Even if I lower the screen resolution when starting the player.14:34
danielk22It's probably mostly due to flash and it's resistance to V-Sync.14:35
JimLaheyno they kill proxy14:35
JimLaheyit is no anomous connctions to hulu14:35
JimLaheyit is a fight14:35
JimLaheytoo keep lens running14:36
JimLaheybecause the way that dbus is handling connections it is hard with hulu14:36
danielk22JimLahey: I just mean when I launch the huluplayer and use their not so nice interface it still isn't acceptable for a big screen.14:36
JimLaheyother sites I sccape14:36
JimLaheyOh14:37
JimLaheyno libmultimedia is awesome14:37
JimLaheyalmost better then vlc14:37
JimLaheythere are many many many things that you can do with it14:37
JimLaheylet me find you a video14:37
danielk22k, thx14:38
JimLaheyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P4kv-AoAJ-Q&feature=related14:40
JimLaheythat is what I am working on now that and a mix drinl14:41
JimLaheydrink *14:41
JimLaheyso that when I pause video there is screen that asks about contrast ans all that jazz14:41
JimLaheytrying to make it so that htey are all on sliders not going so well :)14:43
JimLaheymight have something to do with mix drinks lol14:43
danielk22There is some jerkyness in the video, is that just from overtaxing the system?14:44
danielk22PS What GPU was used for that? Is it one with one of the open source drivers or nvidia.ko ?14:46
JimLaheyI have no clue14:46
JimLaheybut14:47
JimLaheyI do know that it runs Ok with what I need and am doing14:47
JimLaheycontrast hue ect14:47
JimLaheyhaving two screens14:47
JimLaheythere is nothing that I can find that would not need to be added as a lib to make that happen with NUX14:48
JimLaheybut that is ok14:48
JimLaheyas far as gpu I have bottom of the line "stock" one14:49
danielk22Well with NUX you'd just need to get the video into an OpenGL texture somehow. Preferably a YUV one. That shouldn't be too hard with today's hardware.14:50
jhodapp_tgm4883: more obvious RSS links just added to the blog site14:50
tgm4883jhodapp_, good, that should help out. I know a few people were looking for those14:50
jhodapp_cool14:50
JimLaheyYeah danielk22  maybe you can help me learn NUX14:53
JimLaheyI tried14:53
JimLaheybut I could not get it14:53
JimLaheyI know well my best are C++ java perl then all the html crap then python vala and other python based scripting stuff14:54
JimLaheythis is what I use for videos that are online that I want just a simple perl script14:55
JimLaheyhttp://paste.ubuntu.com/1094998/14:55
JimLaheywhat would bee killer is a rtmp script14:56
JimLaheyI mean14:56
JimLaheyRtmp14:57
JimLaheywhat is that program called rtmpsuck14:59
JimLaheyor something like that14:59
JimLaheysorry rtmpdump15:00
JimLaheyJimLahey> this is what I use for videos that are online that I want just a simple perl script   << well that and some other crontabs stuff15:02
danielk22JimLahey: I don't know NUX myself. I have used other now historic OpenGL libraries like GLUT and we have our own OpenGL UI and video rendering libraries in MythTV. So the concepts are familiar, but I need to learn NUX myself before teaching anyone.15:31
jhodapp_JimLahey: take a look at this for some good Nux examples: https://code.launchpad.net/nuxplayground15:37
danielk22jhodapp_: Do you know if the plan to make NUX scriptable in Unity3D and have a UI design tool like with Qt5?15:45
jhodapp_danielk22: I don't know any details like that unfortunately…I've had similar thoughts in my mind15:50
danielk22It seems like it's one of those things that might not have a great payoff if Unity3D is only intended for use in the Ubuntu desktop but if not present would be a real problem for 3rd party adoption of the toolkit.15:55
jhodapp_agreed, Im not sure what the longterm plans are15:55
jhodapp_But there definitely is vision around this, so it's not an arbitrary decision15:56
danielk22Well it can't be arbitrary since it involves Canonical committing some resources... :)15:57
jhodapp_right15:57
JimLaheythe bottom line is this Ubuntu uses QT16:04
JimLaheyat least for 2d and well alot more16:04
JimLaheyI am on 12.10 right now using my own 2d config16:04
JimLaheyall I want to do is have fun get drunk and make awesome babies I mean programs16:05
jhodapp_lol16:10
