[01:58] Any way to force a application start minimized in a .desktop file? === jalcine is now known as Jacky === P4R4N01D1 is now known as P4R4N01D [06:14] Hello, I'm trying to get indicator applets working in lubuntu. I've tried adding "Indicator applets" to my panel, but it keeps showing "No indicators". All installed indicators are appearing in system tray instead. The problem is that I'm not getting all functionality of applets, for example weather applet doesn't show temperature when "Show temperature near indicator" is checked and indicator-multiload is too small, I can't even see the graph ( [06:14] I was googling a LOT, found nothing. there's also one person experiencing the same problem http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1859726) [06:15] Here's a screenshot [06:15] https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71236259/2012-07-20-091444_328x33_scrot.png [06:15] Maybe this is going to help too https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71236259/2012-07-20-091535_424x510_scrot.png [06:18] Thought it was default in 12.04, but is lxpanel-indicator-applet-plugin installed? [06:21] Unit193, yes [06:22] indicator-messages and say indicator-status-provider-pidgin plus logging out and back in? [06:28] Unit193, nothing happened [06:30] What version of Lubuntu? [06:30] 12.04 [06:42] any ideas? :\ [06:42] Don't remember how to set it up, just that you can. [06:42] https://lists.launchpad.net/lubuntu-desktop/msg01737.html [07:09] Howdy [07:10] Every time I log out all of my panels reset. I'm using lubunu 12.04. Any ideas? [07:13] sounds like it doesnt write configurations or something [07:14] I figured something like that. The position for the main panel gets reset and any panels i might add go away [07:14] I'm not sure how to fix it though [07:15] square, try in terminal [07:15] gksudo leafpad /etc/xdg/lxsession/Lubuntu/autostart [07:15] first line should be about lxpanel, what is it? [07:15] @lxpanel --profile Lubuntu [07:16] square, now this: [07:16] so its loading the default profile ever time? [07:16] lxpanelctl exit [07:16] and then [07:16] lxpanel --profile Lubuntu [07:17] well, it looks fine [07:17] allrighty [07:17] it loads lubuntu profile, which you changed [07:17] square, now what is the result? does it look the same now? [07:18] it loaded the default panel [07:18] hmm [07:18] hm, now what if you change it and then try to logout/login ? [07:19] i went to change something and the terminal says [07:19] can't open for write /home/jordan/.config/lxpanel/Lubuntu/panels/panel:Not a directory [07:19] oh yeah! here we go! [07:19] square, go to this directory, see if it exists [07:19] square, maybe there's something wrong with permissions [07:20] nope. In the Lubuntu panel there is a file called panels, but not a folder [07:20] that's right [07:21] square, what are the permissions for "panel" file and "panels" folder? [07:21] there is no panels folder, there is a panels file though [07:21] O_o [07:22] i just said that and you said it was right [07:22] https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71236259/2012-07-20-102200_517x181_scrot.png [07:22] https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71236259/2012-07-20-102220_586x230_scrot.png [07:22] not for me [07:22] oh :> [07:22] in the Lubuntu folder there is just a file called panels, no folders [07:23] create it then [07:23] that seems like it worked.... [07:23] one sec [07:23] :) [07:23] yay [07:24] have you tried logging out/in ? [07:24] not since i did that [07:24] one sec === square_ is now known as square [07:25] that seems to have worked [07:25] yay [07:25] good :) [07:25] thanks :) [07:26] still I can't even imagine how "panels" folder got removed :D [07:26] i didn't do it! [07:26] :P [07:26] I believe you [07:26] must be god..:) [07:26] now do you have any idea why wine is expecting mirc.exe to be in the system32 folder? [07:27] so i can maybe stop using the java irc client :P [07:27] what about xchat? [07:27] I need to ease into this slowly :P [07:27] and i just prefer mirc [07:28] oh well.. wine is wine [07:28] I can't remember running anything in wine... [07:28] it worked fine earlier today, but now it doesnt [07:28] I always get those stupid errors :D [07:28] me too [07:28] thats why i eventually gave up and used textual instead of mirc in os x [07:30] I don't know, there are some articles about running mirc using wine on the internet, look for them [07:30] or you can ask on wine channel [07:30] maybe tomorrow [07:30] I managed to get lubuntu installed today, that seems like enough progress :P [07:31] actually, it just worked that time, cool [07:32] square, btw, try out kupfer [07:32] irc client? [07:32] square, it's something that I fell in love with :D [07:32] and it works with lubuntu quite right [07:32] square, no, it's application launcher! just worth mentioning... ;) [07:32] is that better/different from gnome-do? [07:33] it's lighter! :) [07:33] well, I'll try it! [07:33] and for me - yes! [07:34] I only got lubuntu because I thought lxde looks nicer than xfce or unity or kde, so i'm not too concerned with the lightness of it [07:34] but kupfer looks nice [07:35] one moment [07:35] hey, mirc works [07:36] :) [07:36] well.. lxde isn't that nice as kde [07:36] but it's fking fast!!! [07:37] ooo, kupfer supports chrome bookmarks. i'm sold [07:37] haha, yes :D [07:38] allrighty, it's 3:30 am and someone has been waiting in bed for me for about 30 minutes now. I'll be back tomorrow! [07:38] see you ;) [07:38] (pssh, just take your laptop to the bed) [07:38] (it's a desktop, I'm going to keep OS X on my laptop :) ) [07:39] bye! thanks for the help [08:05] https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxpanel/+bug/819528 [08:05] Launchpad bug 819528 in lxpanel (Ubuntu) "Indicators don't work on lxpanel" [High,Fix released] [08:05] that's what I really hate [08:05] Status: fix released [08:05] but the bug is still there [08:05] I've even installed latest lxpanel version (0.5.10) [08:05] now "indicator applets" applet is gone. [08:14] I would like to recommend weechat to square instead of mIRC [08:14] you get nice nick bar on the right if you need it [08:15] bioterror, do you have any idea why my indicator applet is not working? [08:15] nope [08:15] it could be run from terminal? [08:16] and it should prompt what's wrong? [08:16] bioterror, it is showing "no indicators" and everything is appearing in system tray instead [08:16] bioterror, how? :\ [08:17] like like [08:17] now I have to think : D [08:19] that's what I get: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/71236259/2012-07-20-111854_345x35_scrot.png [08:19] the thing with red circle is indicator-cpufreq [08:19] and this strange horizontal line is actualli inditactor-multiload [08:20] and weather indicator is unable to show temperature [08:20] well, that's all because its in notification area instead of the indicator one? [09:02] hello [09:02] can someone please help or guide me in a good direction on a problem i have [09:02] ? [09:03] tell us the problem [09:03] do any of you guys transfer files from your phone to your hd with lubuntu? [09:03] via usb [09:04] I have done it, many times [09:04] nowdays I'm too lazy and I just ssh into my phone and use SCP :D [09:04] i have a LG cosmos 2 if that means anything to you [09:04] nothing much, what kind of OS it has? [09:05] LG's own? [09:05] yea [09:05] i think [09:06] brew mp ver 1.0.2 [09:08] i'm a super newbie. I have never compiled a program from source to my memory [09:09] i think i did back in the day w/ slackware in the 90's [09:10] most of the mobile phone os's asks if you want to use "File transfer mode" [09:10] when you plug it into computer [09:11] yea, it asks if i want to use mass storage mode or phone modem [09:11] and you want to use mass storage mode [09:12] i do [09:13] i don't see anything in fileman [09:13] i wonder if i need some kind of driver [09:13] open terminal [09:13] and say: dmesg [09:13] does it mention something about it? [09:14] i know there are windows drivers and software on the phone that it uploads to your windows box [09:16] do you want the readout for the dmesg? [09:17] you can see if it mentions it [09:17] like "new device" and /dev/sdb or something like that [09:17] if not, then the kernel doesnt discuss with the phone [09:19] if that doesnt work, then you might want to try bluetooth for example? [09:19] wait i see something! [09:21] happy 4:20 [09:21] i was doing something wrong the whole time [09:22] feelin pretty stupid [09:22] someguy, you should probably use Memory Card with your phone? [09:22] i like lubuntu. I think i'll keep it around for awhile [09:22] i do [09:23] i don't have a micro sd reader for my pc [09:23] thank you for the help. I appreciate it [09:25] in order to use this phone with windows it had to install all of this crap. but it works perfectly with lubuntu as-is [14:54] I get these odd error messages in lubuntu [14:54] "kernel error" and a number [15:54] hi, does anyone know how to solve the "blank screen after grub" problem?
