[03:13] timestamp? [03:28] 0100PM [03:30] so it was a timestap oh ok [03:30] stamp* [03:30] Unit193, how'd you lose usb and networking?? [03:31] USB connects a LAN card, and that USB support dropped out, happened before as well. :/ [03:32] thats weird that it would just stop working :/ [03:34] Wasn't the first, won't be the last I'd guess either. [03:35] could be a short [03:36] Really old computer, going to upgrade it to a slightly less old one. [07:05] Unit193: pouch [08:33] 20 'did you get this?' emails from us-tn-loco :P [11:36] it was 18 binarymutant [11:37] loll [11:37] :D [11:37] it was a good guess [11:37] 20 if you include the first one sent and my follow up :P [11:38] so are you going to be able to make it? [11:38] make it..? [11:38] to the meeting next week on Thu? [11:45] op i'm afraid i will kick the whole room while mis-typing something :) [11:45] lol [11:45] or is it I have to resist the urge to highlight everyone and select kick? [11:46] just for kicks and giggles? I'd rejoin the channel automatically I think :/ [11:47] ha ha yes for kicks and giggles so i have to de-op quickly, or I could just kick Unit193 and no one would mind :P [11:48] hmm that topic needed some commas [11:49] no, not Unit193! [11:50] ha ha netritious, you are correct I suppose no one is expendible, not even Unit193 [12:12] ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ [12:15] i'm just going to start posting random emoticons in here [12:17] ヽ(๏∀๏ )ノ [12:38] that was only two binarymutant [12:39] ...huh? oh lost interest (︶︹︺) [12:41] binarymutant: i think the netsplits didn't like your emoticons ;)_ [12:41] hmm [12:41] ;) [12:41] and I can't type! [12:42] didn't see any netsplits [12:47] [07:21:46] <= Netsplit between *.net and *.split. Users quit: binarymutant, meetingology [12:47] [07:22:31] => Netsplit between *.net and *.split ended. [13:12] binarymutant: i look more for not to do apps on my phone :) [15:31] hello RagnarokAngel, long long long time no see [15:51] NSFW: Linux kernel swear word counts http://www.vidarholen.net/contents/wordcount/ [16:21] hello netritious [18:50] bin [18:50] AH NM [18:50] he left [18:51] Happens, he'll be back. [18:55] omg he left FOOOREVER [18:55] he might die in a car wreck [18:55] and i'll never have gotten a chance to tell him about the todo for his android [18:56] add event #1: don't die in car wreck [18:56] see? :/ [18:57] Good reminder to have, I'm sure. [19:04] wrst: Yeah, it's been quite a while since I've been on irc. [19:06] all going well RagnarokAngel? [19:06] everything but unity wrst [19:07] oh me RagnarokAngel :) [19:07] i just can't make myself use it [19:07] there's a strong possibility I'll be graduating in december [19:07] awesome [19:07] I'm still waaay behind on my updates [19:08] I broke this system over a year ago and cannot seem to find what I did. [19:08] i would have forgotten by now RagnarokAngel [19:09] I sure have [19:09] It's just going to get a fresh set of paint. Do a full install [19:09] Well, if you didn't have as many custom settings it'd be easy to do that. [19:09] yeah I know. Lose all the tweaking I've done. [19:10] I'm not looking forward to that... [19:10] I've gone as far to remap my keyboard [19:10] I'm really not going to have a fun time of this [19:11] At least I don't have full build environments to get back up and running [20:33] http://mashable.com/2012/07/22/jack-daniels-trademark-letter/ Wow, handled that quite well... [20:55] re NSFW swear word counts: we talk nastier than that in my workplace ;) [21:30] So I'm going to ask a sort of sacrilegious question here: Is there a good reason for still choosing ubuntu as my distro? [21:57] Welcome back binarymutant! [21:57] ty ty [21:57] RagnarokAngel: Well, for one thing there is the community, but I may not be the best to answer. [21:57] what did I miss [21:58] Juzzy was saying you needed to remember not to crash. [21:58] binarymutant: I posed the question if there were any good reasons for choosing ubuntu over other distros now [21:59] Ubuntu is easier for people transitioning from Windows or Apple [21:59] right, but for myself. [21:59] http://irclogs.ubuntu.com/2012/07/23/%23ubuntu-us-tn.html#t18:50 [21:59] sweet I forgot we're logged again [21:59] I'll always point people to ubuntu first, my experience was just like that [22:00] RagnarokAngel: I like debian based, the community is nice (Or at least the Xubuntu one is), and the flavors still have the "older" style desktop. [22:00] Unit193: vs unity or vs gnome3? [22:00] Yes. [22:01] RagnarokAngel, there's a point in which distro's just become package managers and each package manager has it's pros&cons [22:01] probably both [22:01] * Unit193 never liked gnome. :P [22:01] binarymutant: at the end of the day we're all running linux. [22:01] unless you're on FreeBSD <.< [22:01] yeah but different package managers [22:01] average_guy I'd guess uses Lubuntu, and with glancing at his ident I saw "firefly" XD [22:03] Hello Unit193. I am actually on an xp box at the momment [22:03] apt-get is fine. pacman seems interesting. [22:04] average_guy: Heh, well it was a guess based on joined channels. :P [22:04] oh yeah, I can see where a person may think that then [22:05] I have been doing a lot of playing with lxde lately [22:05] lxde seems like a nice wm [22:05] lubuntu vs ubuntu mini + lxde [22:07] RagnarokAngel, pacman is awesome [22:07] binarymutant: but it requires setting up arch. [22:07] and I'm lazy [22:07] well yeah, Arch is awesome [22:07] I need to buckle and just sit down and do it. [22:08] it's not for the feint of heart [22:08] RagnarokAngel: Google bridge linux, but I don't think I'd recommend it as it isn't the arch way. [22:09] Unit193: No that is definitely not the arch way but I like that it exists [22:12] Unit193, what's google bridge? [22:16] binarymutant: Bridge Linux -- It's a distro built from arch. [22:19] 0h [22:22] I don't see what's different about it [22:26] It's pre-setup. [22:27] yeah the arch way is you setup and tune your own system so you have no one to go back crying to like a little baby! [22:32] I don't see how the 'pre-setup' can work [22:32] pre-downloaded makes sense [22:33] http://millertechnologies.net/ [22:33] yeah I saw [22:37] binarymutant: there are a few arch based that work ok i tried one i forget what it was but it was some type of openbox arch thing [22:37] chakra was pretty nice too then they departed from arch [22:37] meh I like the "arch way" [22:46] The arch way is excellent just extensive [22:58] it forces you to know what your doing rather then rely on maintainers [23:01] definitely a good thing [23:03] I have a question about growing a fat32 partition: why doesn't it work? [23:05] I've got this sd card with some sort of voodoo codemonkey magic to get a ICS build for my nook color. It works but the partition it uses for boot (that contains the ROM) is 107MBs while the newest nightlies are 130MB files. How can I get this partition to not be a big bucket of fail? [23:08] gparted? [23:11] fails [23:11] even the livecd fails [23:13] allegedly libparted v 3.1 has fixed the issue. [23:13] but v3.0 has the bug for sure [23:15] time to upgrade [23:15] binarymutant: gparted shows the partition as being 1.1GB currently but whenever I try to actually add a file I get told the partition can only handle 10X.X MB [23:16] `df -Th` should show you how big it is [23:22] I've just discovered xbmc ... wow [23:54] I added whitespace to the back of the .img to try and grow it. It didn't work.
