DoctorPepperhi guys !!02:01
black_joeYou know DoctorPepper, I don't like Doctor Pepper. I DO like the cheap knockoffs though. Like Doctor Thunder.02:04
DoctorPeppercan anyone please help me ,  i have a sound problem. i get the following error when starting kde The audio playback device  default does not work.            Falling back to.02:04
DoctorPepperthen i have no sound02:05
DoctorPepperi have this issue only when using the gstreamer backend to phonon02:05
black_joeIs the hardware listed under the PulseAudio control panel?02:06
DoctorPepperi have  a output device   listed  as Built-in Audio Annalog stereo02:08
DoctorPepperblack_joe:  any idea02:09
black_joeThat should work. I have that too. On the Analog Output port.02:10
DoctorPepperi actually have no problem when using02:10
DoctorPepperthe vlc backend02:10
black_joeI actually ran into an error like this before. I purged pulseaudio and alsa and then reinstalled them. That worked, but it may cause massive issues if it doesn't.02:10
DoctorPepperit quite risky since purging pulse audio  remove ubuntu-desktop02:13
black_joeYou can re-install it and you won't need to download anything since apt will cache it.02:14
DoctorPepperthe wierdest part of the probleme is that i have this issue only with some users accounts02:15
black_joeThen that backs up my suspicion that it is a configuration file error.02:16
DoctorPepperso what do i do02:16
black_joeI still think that purging it and re-installing ubuntu-desktop is the best option.,02:17
DoctorPepperdone02:25
DoctorPepperi have to logout be back02:25
black_joeWait!02:25
black_joeMake sure kubuntu-desktop is installed as well.02:25
DoctorPepperyes  it installed02:26
DoctorPepperthe removal of pulseaudio  affected only  ubuntu-desktop for some reason02:26
black_joeStrange. Logging out should be safe, then.02:27
DoctorPepperi didnt remove alsa by the way02:27
black_joeAlsa isn't the problem. At least I don't think it is.02:28
black_joeThat could be the next step if this doesn't work.02:28
DoctorPepperok gonna try  be back02:29
DoctorPepperthanks for wasting your time help me02:29
DoctorPepper*helping me02:29
black_joeMy time is worthless. Thanks for giving me something to do.02:29

=== Drachenblut is now known as Lord_Drachenblut
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: What's Drachen?  Lord something blood?10:25
Lord_Drachenblutdragon's blood10:29
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: Aaaaaaaaaah, sort of figured in a way..10:33
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: No German word for Lord, eh?10:34
Lord_Drachenblutdidn't try to find a german word for it10:35
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: Aaaaaah, I see.10:35
Lord_Drachenblutso how goes it man10:35
rottingdeadJust fine.10:36
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: Was in ##windows irc other day, somebody had the nerve to ask if you can change background images, lol, wow.10:38
Lord_Drachenblutwow..... I use to run windows and I had to dig to find a program that will do what kde can do by default with wallpapers10:42
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: Aaaaaaaah, I'm a hardcore CLI freak.10:43
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: How did you get it?  Via Paying, or a crack?  lol..10:43
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: Why I like my OSS, don't have to worry about costs getting shoved down your throat.10:44
SixtyFold are you referring to windows blinds back in the day or something?10:44
rottingdeadSixtyFold: Who you talking to?10:45
SixtyFoldyou guys, talking about things via windows for messing with wallpapers etc10:45
rottingdeadSixtyFold: Aaaaaaaaaah, nah, what I mentioned was a question in ##windows, not in KDE.10:46
SixtyFoldahhh10:46
rottingdeadSixtyFold: Like I said I use CLI, and even got a sweet FrameBuffer Image...10:46
SixtyFoldnice10:46
SixtyFoldthe last year ive become way obsessed with CLI compared too10:46
Lord_Drachenblutrottingdead: it was just the rotating wallpapers....10:47
rottingdeadSixtyFold: Yeah, so no background images here.10:47
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa, Slideshow effects?10:47
SixtyFoldive been trying to find a way to use CLI browsers even but none of them quite do enough10:47
Lord_Drachenblutrottingdead: yep10:47
SixtyFoldit'd be nice to have a integrated CLI browser that would open things in GUI when it's absolutely necessary like flash etc, then you could just exit out back to the command line when it's done10:48
SixtyFoldlike a hybrid cli/gui browser10:48
rottingdeadLord_Drachenblut: Hmm, strange, I thought changing wallpapers came out of the box?10:48
SixtyFoldin win7 it does10:49
SixtyFoldin winxp it didnt10:49
SixtyFoldidk about vista, i never used it enough10:49
rottingdeadSixtyFold: Aaah, yes, that's right!!10:49
Lord_DrachenblutI didn't even know they had added it to win710:49
SixtyFoldyah10:49
SixtyFoldyou just make your theme10:49
Lord_Drachenblutokay10:49
rottingdeadSixtyFold: Well, you should become happy, supposedly using a FrameBufer it makes it possible to run things you would normally need a DE in CLI..10:49
SixtyFoldall the default aero themes start taht way actually, with background wallpaper slideshows10:49
SixtyFoldabout 10 images10:50
SixtyFoldand then you can make your own custom ofc too, my dad has pictures of his grandkids and such on his background doing that10:50
SixtyFoldill have to look up the framebuffer thing10:50
SixtyFoldidk anything about it10:50
rottingdeadSixtyFold: If you do have a DE already installed, which is just dumb to say, obviously, =P. Go to Google Imges, and type in emerge-world Splash, and you'll see what it is.10:50
SixtyFoldcool10:51
rottingdeadIt should look like a Rectanble with a green rounded borer, saying emerge world at the bottom.10:51
rottingdeads/Rectanble/rectangle, wow, lol.10:51
SixtyFoldyah, im running win7, win7 vm, kubuntu vm and lubuntu vm all at the same time actually right now, i have DE to check it out with hehe10:52
rottingdeadI don't think I did something right, this emerge-world splash should take up the entire monitor, and it doesn't.10:52
SixtyFoldlooks cool10:53
SixtyFoldgreen and black necessary for sure10:53
SixtyFoldgotta go with old school terminal all day10:53
SixtyFoldlook wise10:53
rottingdeadSixtyFold: Yeah, I don't have a powerful enough system to run all those vm's you're running, heh.10:53
SixtyFoldhehe10:54
SixtyFoldyah, i have this machine, ranging from insane to a eeePC with 2gb ram and a single core 1.6ghz cpu, so eh, that has kubuntu on it10:55
SixtyFoldtechno junky10:55
SixtyFoldi like the idea of running all the modern type things today on a system that was top of the line 15 years ago for sure, because the overhead on most systems is just retarded, so much unecessary stuff10:56
rottingdeadSixtyFold: Aaaaaaaaaah, this might be why it's not that large, I probably should have copied it as 1920x1080, rather than 1280-1024.10:56
SixtyFoldart4linux.org site right?10:57
rottingdeadSixtyFold: I might need an initrd file, since I'm using Gentoo, more manual intervention in my system.10:58
SixtyFoldnever ran gentoo before10:58
SixtyFoldbeen thinking about running knoppix lately on my eeePC10:59
rottingdeadOkie, made some mods to my files, have to reboot anyway.10:59
