qwebirc12226What is the most popular / easiest to setup hardware for remotes these days?  I do have a serial port IR receiver and a harmony one I"d like to use, either that or buy a usb receiver...  Just looking for recomendations18:29
exothermcIf I have a barebones command line only install of ubuntu, can I simply add some more sources, and apt-get install the final system?18:57
Shadow__Xqwebirc12226: i would checkout mythtv wiki19:04

Zinn[www.mythtv.org] Category:Remote Controls - MythTV Official Wiki19:04
Shadow__Xexothermc: to setup myth backend you need X19:04
Shadow__Xi think its supported through x tunneling but still you will need x19:04
exothermcShadow__X: to set it up, or to install the needed packages?19:07
exothermcShadow__X: I would assume the dependencies would bring X in as needed.19:08
Shadow__Xwell, it should be a dependency so itll instal it but you also need to set it up19:12
exothermcright so back to my initial question about sources and what package to install?19:13
tgm4883Shadow__X, setup should be handled by debconf and/or the packaging19:23
tgm4883exothermc, that would depend on what parts you want to install19:23
tgm4883if it's just the backend you want to install, and it's the only backend in  your network, then mythtv-backend-master19:23
exothermctgm4883: and the sources are where?19:26
tgm4883exothermc, it's in the official ubuntu repos, although we usually recommend people update using the repos at https://launchpad.net/~mythbuntu/+archive/0.2519:26

Shadow__Xtgm4883: i should of been more specific i meant you still need X running to be able to run mythtv-setup20:11
exothermcShadow__X: Thanks, but nothing at all to do with what I was asking.20:18

n1md4hello.  I've installed mythbuntu, and it's working well.  One thing, the scheduler is empty, just says unknown all over the place.23:25
tgm4883n1md4, do you have a guide data source?23:26
n1md4tgm4883: yes, from mythtv-setup -> video source setup -> I've got radiotimes (uk).23:27
tgm4883n1md4, hmm, IDK about radiotimes23:28
tgm4883n1md4, if that is actually giving you data, then it sounds like you need to put in the right XMLID for each channel23:28
n1md4There seems to be an issue with xmltv config.  mythtv-setup runs okay, but once i close and backend is restarted the xterm hangs at "XMLTV config file is: <path>"  and that's it.23:29
n1md4I've cancelled this in the past, have gone back, scanned for signals and watched away; but it was then that I had no listing.23:30
n1md4tv_grab_uk_rt just hogs 100% cpu23:31
n1md4Ah .... odd, seems to work now :\  ... not bad news, I guess.23:52
