[03:23] problem with "ibus" [03:23] I am trying to open it but its not opening. Nothing happens. [03:24] how can I open it with LXTerminal? [04:10] hi pradeeban [04:36] Hi! I'd like to run a command each time my computer starts, how can I do that? The thing is my mouse is way too sensitive (3500 dpi) and I have to run this command every time i Log in "xinput --set-prop "Razer DeathAdder" "Device Accel Constant Deceleration" 5" [04:42] sudo nano /usr/local/bin/mousefix [04:42] add that line into that file [04:43] sudo chmod +x /usr/local/bin/mousefix [04:45] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation/FAQ/Guides#Alternative_method [04:58] Thanks! I'll try that out, do I have to add a @ before the command? OR just the command itself? [07:31] hello! [07:31] Happy friendship day! [07:31] :) [08:08] Hi all. I need to use the alternate installer on my system because ubiquity doesn't work. I read the alternate install guide and there's a instance missing when I'm asked which OS to install. There's serveral types of servers listed as well as Ubuntu full, Kubuntu, Lubuntu Core etc. But no Lubuntu full. So I install Lubuntu Core and lubuntu-desktop via CLI. But after a reboot my system is very unstable. How come the alternate installer doesn [08:08] 't install Lubuntu full by default? [08:19] hi arno1 [08:19] need a little more info did you use the minimal cd? [08:19] how much ram do you have? [08:20] and when you get into lubuntu, do you have the office apps? [08:22] I suggest to skip those and install plain minimal [08:23] aftr succesful logon to a newely installed system you run : sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install lubuntu-desktop [08:23] I used Lubuntu 12.04 32bit alternate. My system has 512MB ram. [08:24] 512 is enough for Ubiquity, don't know what didn't like that. [08:24] It's weird it wouldn't load the installer. [08:25] I wanted to install Lubuntu so I chose Lubuntu core. I was then greeted by CLI and installed lubuntu-desktop. But like I said the system seemed unstable and slow. [08:25] shouldn't be unstable or slow [08:26] you might check your hard drive speed [08:30] I get error messages right after booting up. [08:30] I will try reinstalling with the mini image. [08:31] i wouldn't [08:31] error messages are kkndof normal [08:31] what's crashing exactly? [08:33] it says undefined video mode numer 314 right at the beginning of the install [08:34] doesn't sound unusual [08:34] ok [08:34] but you got it installed, right? [08:34] now what? [08:36] I've installed XP after being pissed that it wasn't working right. But I hate windows. So right now I'm installing form the mini.iso. Got this guide here> https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/Documentation/MinimalInstall [08:37] k [08:40] I plan to upgrade to 1 GB RAM. Should I change the default swap size? [08:41] sure [08:41] so 1 gb swap? [08:42] i'd go higher but i'm wierd [08:42] I just got 40 gb hdd [08:42] chromium will eat up 1 gb ram [08:42] quick [08:42] you mean when hibernating? [08:43] no i mean opening up 10 tabs in chromium [08:43] but that doesn't affect swap right? [08:44] swap space does affect swap [08:44] i mean hibernation [08:44] so you'll need a full gig to hibernate [08:44] k [08:49] what do you enter, 1000 mb or 1024 does it matter_ [08:49] ? [08:49] donno [08:49] 1030 mb [09:46] What key do you guys press to wake up your monitor when there's an install running in the command line? I don't want to disturb the install. If i unplug it it stays the same - so i always need to use my openbox.conf backup [12:31] how can i fix this behavior? [12:32] hmm [12:32] not sure sorry, [12:32] is there a tick box somewhere that says something like keep configuration or similar [12:33] mh [12:33] maybe if i make the file read-only [12:33] would be worth a try [12:33] hmm, but then nothing can write to it, but yeah try it [12:33] 2nd question is the new lubuntu version faster than lubuntu 11.04? [12:34] Not sure, i upgraded from ubuntu 11.10 to lubuntu 11.10 and that is faster which doesn't answer your question, I think it depends on hardware [12:37] hiho [12:37] hi === Gosy- is now known as Gosy === M0hi is now known as IAmNotThatGuy === Tm_K is now known as Tm_T [20:03] Hi, I need a configuration of nvidia so that by s-video lubuntu leave in the television of pipes [20:04] Hi, I need a configuration of nvidia so that by s-video lubuntu leave in the television of pipes (crt) [20:05] hi, i'm having a proplem updating my system. But that firmware cannot be installed when linux is not isntalled. How can I fix this? [22:22] Hey [22:26] Hi everybody, I just installed lubuntu on my computer and wonder how I can change theme on it. [22:26] newbie, nobody knows [22:27] Are you sure? [22:27] no, i've heard of people doing it [22:28] Would like to switch form the standard theme ;/ [22:30] you change wallpaper [22:30] you change the lxpanel icon and the png [22:30] for the background [22:30] and then you change gtk theme [22:30] that pretty much covers it all [22:31] so there are no themes for lxpanel, only pngs? [22:32] is the lxpanel icon the "start" button? and which png? what is the gtk theme, the theme of windows and bars? [22:33] lxpanel is the bottom panel [22:33] you can right-click it [22:33] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork/Incoming/Oneiric/Ozone [22:33] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork/Incoming/Precise/Ozone [22:34] as you can see [22:37] Oh, thanks man [22:38] Btw, the party with the volume and stuff is still grey :/ why aren't they black? [22:39] lxpanel needs restart :D [22:40] I haven't installed the theme yet :P how do I do that? [22:44] bioterror, isn't there a gtk widget theme, and an openbox theme to install? [22:47] http://box-look.org/index.php?xcontentmode=7402 here's some openbox themes [22:50] newbie do you have an opebox theme or a gtk theme [22:50] ? [22:51] Umm, I downloaded this : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork/Incoming/Precise/Ozone [22:51] I mean this one : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork/Incoming/Oneiric/Ozone [22:53] i can't help you with that, but i think you're in the wrong place [22:53] see my first comment :) [22:53] How come? [22:54] i think that's just a proposed theme, not an actual theme [22:54] Ooh, I would like a theme like that :( [22:54] I got disconnected for a while so I can't see it [22:54] yeah it's better than precise [22:55] So, where to I find actual themes? [22:55] i linked openbox themes above [22:55] i donno about gtk themes [22:57] Was dc when you linked it probably, can't see it. Could you please link it again? [22:58] https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Openbox_Themes_and_Apps or box-look.org [22:58] openbox themes will change your window edges [22:58] Thanks, it's appreciated! [23:00] http://maketecheasier.com/theme-up-lubuntu/2011/02/11 [23:00] please read that i just found it now [23:08] Ye, looking at it right now :) [23:08] the "select a file" dialog, is that gtk or pcmanfm? [23:09] huh i just changed my start button to this: v [23:09] http://gnome-look.org/CONTENT/user-pics/0/rvc-2011.gif [23:10] hahaha, that is to annoying for me :P [23:11] it doesn't animate here [23:11] oh [23:11] maybe gif's ain't availble for it [23:11] no, it just shows the first frame [23:11] Dammit, I downloaded some openbox themes but I get the files as .bz1 instead of .obt [23:11] link the files please [23:12] http://box-look.org/content/show.php/EasyGray?content=78110 [23:12] That one [23:12] k [23:13] lol the bz2 opened in terminal [23:13] fail [23:13] And it extracs a folder with some files, no .obt [23:14] mh [23:14] try to rename it to obt [23:15] no idea if that works :D [23:16] Doesn't work :/ [23:16] https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=51513 [23:16] seems to be the answer [23:16] i'll try it [23:18] yeah works, but really bad theme [23:18] ! [23:19] if you need help i can [23:20] Gonna try it, wait [23:20] Where is the themes file? [23:20] ? [23:21] i love clearlooks-olive for openbox. it's already installed [23:21] It says I should move it to the themes folder , where is it? [23:22] you have to un archive it to the ~/.themes folder [23:22] ~ means home dir [23:22] oh [23:22] archive manager should work, but i just used tar [23:25] btw .themes is a folder that doesn't exist, and even if you create it, it will be hidden. FYI [23:27] Umm, I have no clue on how to do this... ._. [23:29] jesus christ. [23:29] archive manager won't let me create a new folder [23:29] <.< [23:29] i donno if i should report a bug or just cry [23:30] 7zip! [23:31] newbie i'm going to give you the short version [23:31] Sure man [23:31] go to your home folder in pcmanfm (the file explorer) [23:31] create a new directory called .themes [23:32] then launch archive-manager with the 78123123.bz2 [23:32] and click extract button [23:32] turn on hidden files and browse to the .themes directory [23:32] if you have been a good boy, it will work [23:32] ;) [23:33] thanks man!! [23:34] finally works :p [23:35] Was a pretty bad theme though ._. no close button ;( [23:35] lol yeah [23:37] Meh, will just go with Ambiance Maverick :p [23:37] i really hate the small buttons [23:37] i just wish they were bigger [23:38] yeah :/ [23:38] Btw, are you new to lubuntu aswell?
