balloonsphillw, ping14:52
smartboyhwYeah, balloons, you're here!14:52
smartboyhwballoons: I'm working on a draft for UEFI, Want to see?14:54
balloonssmartboyhw, sure14:55
smartboyhwWait, putting it in Skydrive.14:56
smartboyhwballoons: http://sdrv.ms/ROS6Cz15:00
smartboyhwballoons: Got that?15:02
balloonssmartboyhw, yep15:06
balloonsdid you go through this yourself?15:07
smartboyhwNo, I asked phillw to do so.15:07
phillwhi smartboyhw balloons,15:11
* smartboyhw waves at phillw and balloons.15:11
phillwballoons: I did email you - was awaiting you to come reply.15:11
balloonsphillw, hey15:12
balloonsyes.. I think I sent one back15:12
smartboyhwAnyone read my e-mail to add two things to the agenda?15:12
phillwokies. I'm just back from shopping :)15:12
balloonsI was pinging you on the dvd overwriting issue15:12
balloonsremember that bug from last week?15:12
smartboyhwHow's your vacation?15:12
balloonswith wubi?15:12
smartboyhwWubi?15:12
smartboyhwWHich one?15:12
phillwThere has been some falling out with one of them. I await the dust to settle...15:13
balloonsphillw, ahh ok. Well I did confirm wubi cannot write to a cd or dvd15:13
phillwwe always fight like cat & dog, but this time it got a more serious :/15:13
balloonsit doesn't contain code to do so15:13
phillwballoons: thanks, in that case I'm not sure what it happening - as Jason did replicate it.15:14
balloonsphillw, did he?15:14
balloonssmartboyhw, bug not reported15:14
phillwyes, he did while you were in IRC with him.15:15
smartboyhwI need to go. Bye!15:16
balloonsphillw, right right15:16
balloonsi can only assume user error15:17
balloonsthe problem he is describing is impossible according to the dev15:17
balloonswhich confirms my thoughts..15:17
phillwhmm, well. When the dust settles (hopefully in next couple of days) I will bring the matter back up with him.15:18
phillwballoons: okies, I'll go through that test case with Ho Wan.15:19
balloonsphillw, yes15:19
balloonsI continnue to be currious15:19
balloonsheh15:19
phillwI don't have a copy of vista, so I cannot install it onto my other hard drive and try myself.15:20
balloonsphillw, yes if you wouldn't mind helping him that would be good.. something in the proper format could be usefull to add15:20
balloonsright, same15:20
phillwTBH I'm very suprised at Derrick still running Vista! It is releases what ME was ... best quietly forgotten :P15:21
phillwI spent months putting XP back on computers that came shipped with Vista ;)15:21
phillwI couldn't on my own laptop as there were no XP drivers for it :( It is now my sister's laptop with lubuntu on it & flies like the devil!15:23
balloonshehe15:25
balloonsyes, seems more people are hearing about lubuntu15:25
phillwfor any basic XP or Vista computer it is a good one to at least try. If they like their candy (and some do), then they can try one of the members of our family. Having a choice is brilliant :)15:26
phillwballoons: as you get chance, can you onto an email your thoughts of iso's being archived as you mentioned. I estimate that at 6 milestones / flavour / arch it is actually not an inconsiderable amount of work!15:30
balloonsphillw, http://www.reddit.com/r/Ubuntu/comments/xp3q5/stepmothers_emachines_t3120_revived_with_lubuntu/15:31
balloonsphillw, well, do you archive the dailys or milestones right now for lubuntu images?15:31
balloonsdo you have the alpha 1 from this cycle?15:32
balloonsfrom last cycle?15:32
phillwwhen I was actively testing, I did keep them on my local machine. But it was only at the close of 12.04 did I switch over to the new server. The previous hosting company unilaterally deleted all my archives of lubuntu - I was not pleased, but there was little I could do, it was in the fine print somewhere.15:34
phillwnice posting. I'm sure I saw something aboyt nVidia going to liase with lunix for drivers?15:35
phillwI'm guestimating about 250 - 300 GB of disk space per cycle if I archive 6 milestones across each flavour / arch.15:37
phillwmaybe one of the admins from cd.image could tell me what is on each milestone as per the iso.tracker so I have a better idea?15:38
balloonsphillw, yes I'm guessing we could get the numbers15:46
phillwballoons: I've just sent off a support ticket to find the cost of a 2TB usb drive to be added, as it is archiving and hopefully infrequently accessed a usbV2 drive should be fast enough for us.15:52
phillwYAY!!! GB have just got another Gold medal in Equestrian event :D15:52
phillwoops, sorry... I'm also wathich the Olympics :)15:53
phillw1st Gold in 60 years at show-jumping :)15:53
phillwI can have 2 of them, to back up my exisiting 2TB internal drive. I don't think I need the 2nd one yet, I still have over 700 GB in the 'pool' that can be allocated as and where needed.15:57
balloonsphillw, :-)16:35
balloonsone more week to go16:35
phillw??16:37
balloonsphillw, the olympics16:39
balloonsi was sidebarring with you16:39
balloonshaha16:39
balloonson the iso thing, yea, it would be potentially a lot of bandwidth16:39
balloonsfor images, well, let's take a look16:39
balloonsif we wanted to store say every flavor image(s) for every milestone  for the entire development cycle?16:40
phillwprovided you suddenly did have 100 people grab the alpha 1 of kubuntu after the beta 1 of kubuntu, bandwidth is not a real issue, we have 10 Tb / month as an allowance. I've peaked at 1.5 Tb for the month after 12.04 Lubuntu was released. We're only a secondary server.16:42
phillw*you did not suddenly have*16:42
balloonsok, so something 8 Gig per milestone for ubuntu16:50
balloonsthat was a really fast guess16:50
balloons50 G out to cover all the milestones then16:51
balloonsthat simply for ubuntu of course.. Then you have the other flavors, none of which have that many images16:51
balloonsI think your 200 G estimate is about right16:51
phillwballoons: my maths is not that bad - honest :P17:13
balloonsphillw, hah17:14
phillwI did have a look at the releases & iso sizes before doing my guestimate :)17:14
balloonsI knew you had it figured out17:14
phillwballoons: It is important, that is why I asked for a 2nd opinion. Having a decimal point in the wrong place would have been somewhat embarressing!17:15
balloonsask nasa about that one17:15
phillwor the French, when a +1 was a -1 and crashed an Arien Rocket :P17:15
phillwbut, on NASA, they got the rover safely down.... Fantastic news!17:16
