tech1well the website says Ubuntu Studio 12.04 LTS is a 3 year Long Term Support release and will be supported until April 2015.  so i guess he was wrong05:34
_ravenhi10:02
_ravenwhat is necessary to get a working jack studio10:02
cfhowlett_raven: patience and willingness to take (small) risks with different configurations until you find the sweet spot.10:04
_ravenstrange that i can try it again and agqain and get sick everytime10:08
_ravenwith all possible configurations10:08
_ravenits fully random if it runs or if not and its once more random when it fails within a production and NOBODY knows why10:09
_ravenVEEEERY strange thing10:09
cfhowlett_raven: IMHO jack is not ready for prime time - but the alternative is ...?10:09
_ravencfhowlett the alternative is still windows with special drivers10:10
cfhowlett_raven: ok...10:11
_ravenand THIS is a conclusion because i HATE windows and would like to produce only with linux but its NOT READY to work in a productive way10:11
cfhowlett_raven: it's okay.  We've ALL been there ...10:40
_ravenwhy is it impossible to get it stabel10:44
cfhowlett_raven: I'm not the one to ask.10:53
JoaoHi, I have a suggestion for ubuntu studio, I can write it here?15:37
astraljavaJoao: Yes of course.15:38
smartboyhwHi!15:38
JoaoWhy not include a version of the ardor with vst support?15:39
holsteinJoao: legal issues15:40
holsteinJoao: think of it this way.. why not VST support allow ubuntustudio to include it?15:40
smartboyhwYep.15:41
holsteinJoao: when it does, we can and potentially will15:41
holsteinJoao: the better place to ask this is with the commercial entities that control the licensing of those products15:42
JoaoI understand ...15:42
holsteini personally dont use any windows vst's, nor do i care to, but i think its great that so many people work so hard to include support for these products for folks who want/need them15:43
astraljavaMike to the rescue. It took me a little while to hunt down the reason. :15:45
astraljava:)15:45
smartboyhw:)15:45
holstein\o/15:45
smartboyhwHey, guys, received my e-mail?15:47
holsteinfalktx of the KXstudio project has really dont a lot in this area Joao15:47
JoaoI knew the work of falktx a while ago15:50
holsteinKXstudio includes support for as much of that stuff as possible AFAIK, and its built on ubuntu... and falk is just awesome at support and development15:53
holsteinif i were wanting VST support in ubuntu, thats where i would look15:54
JoaoIn Brazil (my country), there is also a similar project. It's called Studio Linux BR15:56
holsteinit would have to be pretty awesome and special to beat what i have seen falk do.. but i have not checked it out15:57
astraljavasmartboyhw: Yes, but it's empty.15:57
smartboyhwHmm... Let me write that again, g-mail's RTF editor is broken, bulls**t.15:58
JoaoI am gradually dropping the programs from windows, I just need a virtual instrument from electric bass.15:59
astraljavasmartboyhw: Mind the language, and please keep the mails in plain text, if possible.15:59
JoaoAnyone know any?16:00
holsteinJoao: i would ask falk.. he comes here, or you can email him, or try #kxstudio .. also, #opensourcemusicians16:00
smartboyhwWait, astraljava, sorry for using such language, I'm angry...16:01
holsteinthere are lots of bass patchesand samples16:01
holsteinim a bass player, so i dont use nor condone the use of such patches, but i know they are there, and work well16:01
holsteinbass is quite easy to emulate like that.. electric bass... i would look in something easy like yoshimi.. and then go to something like linux sampler, or a font player16:01
smartboyhwCheck your e-mails16:02
astraljavasmartboyhw: It's alright, just take a deep breath before typing when you feel like that. It'll help, and you won't type anything you might regret later on. :)16:02
