qwebirc56482I am having a problem installing my hauppauge TV tuners on Mythbuntu.  I followed the instructions at http://robotbeard.com but I ran into some errors on one of the steps that is supposed to compile I think.01:30
qwebirc56482The error is:  implicit declaration of function 'kzalloc' [-Werror=implicit-funciton-delcaration]01:31
Shadow__Xqwebirc56482: which tuner01:34
qwebirc56482hauppauge 225001:34
qwebirc56482ok, I just found out that I can skip that step.  I missed a line when reading.  But when continuing on the cards are not showing up.01:35
Shadow__Xok first which version of mythtbuntu are you using01:38
Shadow__Xqwebirc56482: which version of mythbuntu are you using01:41
Shadow__Xqwebirc56482: type lsb_release -a in terminal01:42
qwebirc5648212.0401:43
qwebirc56482I just downloaded and installed today01:43
Shadow__Xok so what steps did you follow01:45
qwebirc56482for the install or the robot beard thing?01:46
qwebirc56482I followed steps 1-3b on the robot beard and Front and backend install on the mythbuntu01:46
qwebirc56482I rebooted and attempted step 4 on the robotbeard but the card didn't show up.01:47
Shadow__Xwhen you install mythbuntu a frontend and backend are already installed01:47
qwebirc56482I followed the wizard and that was pretty much all it asked me other than a remote.01:47
qwebirc56482and username stuf01:48
Shadow__Xok well since you are using 12.04 the install is very easy01:48

Shadow__Xand if you want just below that there is a link to use a gui01:50
qwebirc56482gui would be good for me.  I have no idea what I am doing.  :)01:51
Shadow__Xits ok just take your time and also it will be helpful to read the manual01:52
Shadow__Xhonestly, it will help alleviate many many new time installer mistakes01:52
qwebirc56482ok, noob question...  other than grabbing the files one by one how do I get the gui?01:58
Shadow__Xok go to the github site01:59
Shadow__Xclick zip and that will download all the files in a .zip01:59
Shadow__Xonce you have done that double click the .zip and that should extract it02:00
Shadow__Xonce you do that go to that folder in terminal and do sudo sh install.sh02:01
qwebirc56482thank you I am working on that now.02:06
qwebirc56482ok, I have the cards set up.  Now I am not able to connect to the backend  from the front end02:18
qwebirc56482how do I tell the front end where to look for the back end?02:19
Shadow__Xok well first we need to make sure you setup the backend correctly02:30
qwebirc56482ok, what do I need to do to verify?02:31
qwebirc56482Thank you again for your help.  I really do appreciate it.02:31
qwebirc56482I basically took the defaults thru the general setup02:34
qwebirc56482it had the 127.0.0.1 for the ip address but I changed that to my 192.168.1.70 address so I can connect another client to it.02:34
Shadow__Xyou should never put localhost or 127.0.0.1 for a backend that other machines will connect to02:38
qwebirc56482that is fine.  It is not set to that now.  what other settings do you need to know?02:41
Shadow__Xwell did you actually setup the graphics card?02:42
Shadow__Xhttp://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-9.html start at general02:43
Zinn[www.mythtv.org] MythTV, Open Source DVR02:43
qwebirc56482I installed the graphics driver02:45
qwebirc56482Thanks!  I didn't realize there was documentation on this.02:46
Shadow__Xyes that is the mythtv site02:47
Shadow__Xif you follow that it should have everything you need but if not ask here02:47
qwebirc56896I'm trying to install mythbuntu 12.04 with an nvidia graphics card and no on-board graphics and I'm running into problems.  All the help I've found online for this problem seems to revolve around using the on-board graphics instead of the nvidia card.  Is there any other way around the problem?03:13
Shadow__Xwhat problem are you having03:34
qwebirc56896I get a half purple/half black screen if I try to do the default install.  I edited the options to noquiet nosplash nomodeset, then I got an error: Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount03:37
Shadow__Xcould you try to just use nomodeset also make sure you have ahci for your drives04:07
qwebirc56896the nomodeset only seems to be working so far.  Thank you!!!04:35
Shadow__Xglad i could help04:35
malcan I login to my mythbuntu backend via putty?10:26
