wrstchris4585: I think that is correct or being discussed01:45
chris4585yeah02:24
chris4585I hope not, the alternative iso is good, unless the mini iso will stay02:24
Unit193Mini will stay, at least for now.  Just the alters going away.02:25
chris4585I guess it isn't that bad, I mean on the mini iso all you have to do is install ubuntu-desktop02:26
chris4585I assume there is a meta package for ubuntu server02:26
wrstchris4585: i know you can use tasksel for part of that and guessing you would then need to install the server kernel02:39
chris4585tasksel?02:57
wrstyeah it is what pulls in like say the LAMP stuff if you want that etc10:21
chris4585oh boy, I don't know how but my hdd I have for /home for some reason failed fsck, said superblock couldn't be read... although the ext4 filesystem seems to be just fine12:07
chris4585oddly, I figured out a way to access the data by running cfdisk and rewriting my sdb5 partition as type 83 and writing it... then I'm able to mount it no problem :<12:08
chris4585regardless I can access my data but later I'm gonna have to reformat this hard drive and setup my /home directory :|12:08
chris4585well now that I can watch what I like to watch when I sleep... I'm gonna go to sleep now, laters12:12
wrstwell now how did that happen12:12
chris4585wrst, ?12:13
wrsti left and came back in about 19 seconds :)12:13
chris4585oh lol12:13
chris4585wrst, did you see the fiasco I had to deal with ^ ?12:15
chris4585good morning btw12:16
wrstgood morning12:16
wrsti saw the disk problems and looks like you can access it?12:16
chris4585yeah, I can, but it wont pass the fsck at beginning so I just left /dev/sdb5 out of fstab and created a new user etc...12:17
chris4585so I'll have to reformat it later I assume, it isn't that big of a deal though, just annoying I have to copy like 60gbs of data tomorrow :/12:18
chris4585or later today...12:18
chris4585at least I didn't manage to delete /lib this time12:20
wrsttrue :)12:20
chris4585well cya later wrst :)12:22
xTEMPLARxg'morning, all13:54
wrstmorning xTEMPLARx, how you doing?13:54
xTEMPLARxslow13:55
xTEMPLARxas13:55
xTEMPLARxwe13:55
xTEMPLARxgo13:55
wrstthats good i suppose13:56
xTEMPLARxcoffee flow has begun14:08
xTEMPLARxI keep having some X crashes14:08
xTEMPLARxX or gnome shell will die14:08
xTEMPLARxdump me back to lightDM14:08
wrstxTEMPLARx: is it something to do with your driver issue you were talking about yesterday?14:11
xTEMPLARxwell14:15
xTEMPLARxi was blaming the nvidia driversa14:15
xTEMPLARxdrivers*14:15
xTEMPLARxbut perhaps that was a bit premature14:15
xTEMPLARxas now I'm using some of the repository drivers14:15
xTEMPLARxand X is still crashing to the lightdm login14:15
xTEMPLARxI think it may have something to do with virtualbox or flash14:15
xTEMPLARxor both14:15
wrstblame it on flash that's easy :)14:16
xTEMPLARxI would love to, but flash isn't always involved... :(14:35
wrstoh i know but its fun14:36
xTEMPLARxand honestly, what could flash be doing that would take all of X down14:36
xTEMPLARxbut then, same for Virtualbox14:36
xTEMPLARxnvidia drivers, on the other hand, seemed an obvious target14:36
xTEMPLARxbut now I'm not so sure14:36
xTEMPLARxwonder if there's a log file somewhere I'm not privy to as of yet14:36
wrstnot for sure i really haven' t had any issues lately14:46
wrstbut i need to change that its more fun to have issues14:46
wrstxTEMPLARx: http://worldofgnome.org/gnomebuntu-is-set-to-arrive-in-october-18/19:50
xTEMPLARxwoo-hoo!20:14
wrstyeah xTEMPLARx would make my life easier20:17
xTEMPLARxno doubt20:18
xTEMPLARxstinks we'll have to wait so long for it though20:18
wrstwell with the mini iso i pretty much have it20:21
wrstno unity andall the other stuff, but you have to jump through hoops to get it20:21
=== Relapr is now known as parmount
netritiouswrst you should post a tutorial on the website to tide everyone over ;)22:05
netritiousor just make a general tut about how to install from teh mini and then any desktop you want? maybe a little to much.22:06
parmountI just moved in here22:18
parmountHow are you netritious22:21
chris4585I'm glad they are making a gnome spin, but seems like they are doing it oddly22:27
chris4585I don't understand why epiphany and not firefox, and no libreoffice, and no software center? kind of odd, but... ! I don't mind as long as there is a gnome base to install I'm happy22:28
chris4585imo, it should be exactly like the main release just with gnome shell as default desktop and gdm22:28
wrstnetritious: i need to do that, do it in a vm and do screen shots23:00
wrstchris4585: i agree with you but i guess they are going for a totally vanilla gnome feel?23:01
wrsti persoanlly like the software center23:01
chris4585I guess, but vanilla gnome is just meh, but its better than nothing I guess23:10
wrstchris4585: yeah but that's really what i prefer one thing i liked about arch then i could go from there23:11
wrstbut i don't like the list of major changes coming to arch so i'm going with ubuntu for a bit23:11
wrstif debian testing was just a wee bit more stable i would be really happy there23:11
chris4585I agree, I'll probably install it on my tv computer, surprisingly gnome is quite keyboard friendly or enough to watch videos23:13
wrstyes it actually is23:14
