k4everare the backports broken?03:58
DarthFrogWorked for me earlier today.03:58
k4everi added the kubuntu backports to lm 12 and reloaded synaptic and the packages are not showing03:58
k4everthe backports don't show in the output when i do a sudo apt-get update either03:59
DarthFrogPerhaps you erred when you added the repo?04:00
k4everi followed the instructions for adding it04:00
k4everi'm looking in the backports directory for oneiric now.  the Packages file is empty.  what gives?04:15
k4ever..only one that seems to have anything in it is precise. what gives?  will kde 4.9 only work on precise?04:17

geekgirlhello09:16
geekgirlis this a good place to ask about problems i am having with installing wireless?09:16
geekgirli have ndisgtk as the recommended wrapper for wireless but i don't seem to be able to get it to work09:17
susundbe1ggeekgirl: those wireless are pain in the ass, sofar i have seen best method as google->trial+error until it works or time is out09:19
geekgirlyuck really susundbelg sigh09:19
susundbe1gspecially those usb dongles seems to be almost impossible to get work reliably (based on my 2 device experience)09:19
susundbe1gyou can try also to check lsusb and the device id and google for that, for driver, and then look if developers have support somewhere ..09:20
susundbe1g(lsusb assuming the device is usb device, and id similar to '046d:c049' )09:22

mr-richGood morning.  Is ther a way to get "KDE IM Contacts" to minimize to the tray?12:47
LinkmasterWhat is a good virtual drive creator for Linux? I have a .cue/.bin image I want to mount, and its not converting to .iso with bchunk, so I was wanting to mount it directly. Or would it be best to get something such as daemon tools, and mount it with that through wine?13:10
BluesKajLinkmaster, use mkisofs to convert it13:14
BluesKaj!mkisofs13:14
Linkmasterah, this is a new program to me13:15
BluesKaj!info mkisofs13:15
ubottuPackage mkisofs does not exist in precise13:15
LinkmasterEr :/13:15
BluesKajodd13:15
Linkmasterlet me see with 'apt-cache'13:15
LinkmasterBluesKaj: Note, selecting 'genisoimage' instead of 'mkisofs'13:17
BluesKajyup13:19
LinkmasterThank you, lets see if it works13:19
framticI use IRC for first time.If one ifs in this channel, then i could talk with him,is that right ?13:21
BluesKajframtic, yes ..do you have a kubuntu question ?13:22
BluesKajLinkmaster, http://linux.die.net/man/1/genisoimage13:24
framticAh,yes,I don't know where to find input method settings, kde is a bit different from gnome..13:25
BluesKajframtic, kmenu>computer>system settings13:28
LinkmasterBluesKaj, its still mounting with the file.bin directly visible13:31
BluesKajLinkmaster, did you convert the image to iso ?13:31
Linkmasterthats what I'm trying to do13:32
BluesKajk3b may be able to do it13:32
LinkmasterAnd when I do, I mount the .iso file through terminal, and it loads up the original .bin/.cue file13:32
LinkmasterAnd yes, k3b does that, but it gives the same results13:32
BluesKajdon't mount the image , you can't convert it if it's mounbted13:33
LinkmasterI don't have the .bin/.cue mounted13:34
BluesKajLinkmaster, have you tried ccd2iso13:39
LinkmasterI haven't heard of it, I just stumbled across something called CDEmu, but let me try the ccd2iso13:40

BloathiI was looking for a non-gnome / gtk   (I wish online like Slax, but offline as well) way of creating an installer for an ubuntu release21:32
BloathiSo, E17 / Qt / pure CLI / online only.21:32

dahliahi, I'm running 11.10 and I did an apt-get dist-upgrade, and now it shows my display in a low resolution and when I try to run the nvidia panel it says my x server is not using the nvidia driver. I run aptitude and it thinks the latest nvidia driver is installed. Any suggestions how I can get it working again?22:23
c_smithHi, I'm trying to boot into the Kubuntu alternate installer for 12.04.1 on a Lenovo IdeaPad U400 and when I boot into it, I get this messed up screen with whit lines across it, what can I do to fix this so it boots?22:23
c_smithright now it seems to boot, but I can't see anything.22:24
c_smithit has a muxless Intal/ATI GPU combo22:24
