[14:39] I installed ubuntu using / on the ext4 rather than the windows drive [19:44] I'm trying to install the latest release of ubuntu, it installs, and then when it goes to do a reboot it gets stuck on a "Loading Operating System..." screen. [19:44] Not sure what to try next to actually get it going [19:53] !nomodeset [19:53] A common kernel (boot)parameter is nomodeset, which is needed for some graphic cards that otherwise boot into a black screen or show corrupted splash screen. See http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1613132 on how to use this parameter [19:56] I was able to do that when I was doing the initial install. When I'm rebooting where/what do I do to set that? I can't find anything that will let me edit the commands.... [19:58] you have to press left shift right after BIOS [19:58] and it will prompt you the GRUB [19:58] then you edit it with the e button [19:58] and this nomodeset after ro quiet [19:58] I've tried that. It still takes me to the "loading operating system..." screen [19:58] should not [19:58] you have to be faster! [19:58] *laugh* Let me try it a few more times === szczur is now known as szczur_ [20:03] is holding it down too much or pressing it too early an issue? [20:23] I dunno [20:23] I just booted a moment ago to memtest86+ [20:23] my kubuntu machine was unresponsive second time in a week [20:24] *under [20:31] ok. thanks for your help. Maybe I'll try installing a different version or something just to see if that works. [20:35] no it wont [20:35] as you need this nomodeset, atleat it looks like so [20:36] you can also boot livecd, mount the hard drive and edit some grub lines === yofel_ is now known as yofel === sandyd_away is now known as sandyd [23:36] hey all! === szczur_ is now known as szczur
