jibelxnox, have your fixes to geoname been pushed to production ?08:56
xnoxjibel: no, not yet.08:56
jibelxnox, ok, I'll wait before filing new bugs. any ETA ?08:57
xnoxjibel: the priority has been bumped twice. And the comment on the comment on the bug report about "geoname lookups" fixed, I think is bogus.08:57
xnoxjibel: please file bugs, cause I am running a local instance and can test with new database.08:57
xnoxjibel: no ETA as far as I know.08:58
xnoxjibel: RT #55554 if you want to follow =)08:58
jibelxnox, thanks :)08:58

xnoxsince cia.vc is broken =(09:37
cjwatsonProbably best just don't worry about it for now09:46

xnoxwoohoo. fixed bzr-cia. Submitting merge proposal10:54
cjwatsonoh, it wasn't a server-side bug?10:58
cjwatsond'oh, assumptions10:58
xnoxcjwatson: s|cia.navi.cx|cia.vc| apparently bzr-cia was using "deprecated" host name10:59
cjwatsonAh11:00
cjwatsonIt looked exactly like previous occasions where the server was transiently down11:00
xnoxjelmer merged the fix, so bzr pull =)11:01
cjwatsonI use the packaged version11:08
xnoxi just have many checkouts in bazaar/plugins/11:15
xnoxcjwatson: I see there was/is automated GUI testing for ubiquity. Is it still available? And can I run it manually?11:16
cjwatsonNot sure exactly what you mean11:18
cjwatsonThere's the test suite11:19
cjwatsonBeyond that I have no idea11:19
xnoxthe ATK based Linux Desktop Testing project, to actually click the gui buttons11:19
xnoxor something like that11:19
cjwatsonI was never involved in that and I don't know how far it got11:20
cjwatsonOr who was doing it11:20
xnoxhmmm....11:21

CIA-4ubiquity: ubi-partman.py. Needs integration into build system.12:25
cjwatsonReally?  Last I looked pylint had so many FPs it wasn't worth it12:25
cjwatsonMaybe try pocketlint instead?12:25
xnoxcjwatson: yeah it does generate a lot of noise but with little help from grep&sed it would have caught last two bug-fix uploads =/12:29
xnoxwhich i have now quickly run manually.12:29
cjwatsonFair enough12:31
ffeldhausHi, we are currently deploying a large compute cluster with Ubuntu. The nodes are diskless and we run everything from the central (powerful) NFS server. The installation of Ubuntu is a bit of a struggle as we didn't find a way to install it to an NFS root. Are there any suggestions how to install Ubuntu directly on NFS for diskless servers?18:26
xnoxffeldhaus1: I think you should look into documentation about installing ltsp server19:59
xnoxffeldhaus1: that is usually done using the edubuntu cd or the alternative cd19:59
xnoxffeldhaus1: this is the way to use thin clients19:59
xnoxffeldhaus1: although you want servers.....20:00
xnoxffeldhaus1: look into / google for debian-installer pre-seeding nfsroot installations.20:00
ffeldhaus1I don't think the LTSP way would work as we would need a running Ubuntu for that20:10
ffeldhaus1the general setup is, that we are using Foreman to deploy new servers and do unattended installations on the servers. Afterwards we configure the servers using puppet manifests20:11
ffeldhaus1the unattended installations should go straight to the nfsroot and not onto a local disk20:11
ffeldhaus1as far as I understand the debian-installer it is currently not possible to tell it, to install to an nfsroot20:12
xnoxffeldhaus1: you need to boot the installer the right way and do network/pxeboot with pre-seeding20:15
xnoxfirst google results shows how to use it20:15
xnoxhttp://www.jukie.net/bart/blog/nfsroot-on-debian20:15
ffeldhaus1if I understand that post correctly, they are using debootstrap to install the OS. We already found that and it might work, but it requires another server with installed OS to run the debootstrap utility20:20
ffeldhaus1I just thought it would be possible to use the existing preseed files to get the Ubuntu system up and running similar to the way I would do it for installation on a local disk20:24
