plarsis it abnormal to get a warning that language support is incomplete, asking if I want to download it when the language I selected is english? iirc, some languages (such as english) should be complete on the install media, or is that not the case anymore?13:48
plarsThis is on ubuntu-server-omap4 btw13:48
plarsjibel, psivaa? ^13:49
=== Guest78022 is now known as Ursinha
jibelplars, it's a long standing bug, I don't have the bug number handy, but you may find it or a duplicate in launchpad13:50
plarsjibel: ok, so I'm correct in thinking that's not right at least... thanks13:50

plarsjamespage: do you know if the instructions at http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Install/ServerWhole#Tomcat%20server are correct? I'm trying it right now on a mac server and it doesn't seem to be working as described, but tomcat is installed15:30
jamespageplars, hmm - looks a little incorrect - what are you seeing thats different?15:31
plarsjamespage: well I can't connect to anything on localhost:8080 for starters15:33
jamespageplars, sudo service tomcat7 status ?15:34
plarsjamespage: I just rebooted though (unrelated), give me a moment and I can give more details15:34
plarsjamespage: odd, it's working now15:37
plarsjamespage: I wasn't seeing the "it works" page coming up at the moment earlier15:37
jamespageplars, are you running virtual?15:37
plarsbut haven't run through these, so I thought it best to check if they were up to date15:37
plarsjamespage: no15:37
jamespageplars, worth checking /var/log/tomcat/catalina.out to see why it took a long time then15:38
jamespage/var/log/tomcat7 that is15:38
balloonsanyone have a non-networking install work on amd64 quantal desktop?15:53
balloonsmy current installation is attempting to download files and is failing.. despite me not being connected to the internet, and telling it not to install updates15:54
jibelballoons, I did a non-network installation in english and it was successful. Is it what is failing for you ?15:55
balloonsjibel, see above.. basically it doesn't seem to respect the don't install updates option15:56
balloonsif it finds a network connecton, it will try and use it15:56
jibelballoons, works fine here15:57
balloonsjibel, so if you have an active connection, and tell it not to install updates, does the installer not hit the archive to get packages?15:58
balloonsin my case here's what happened.. I had networking on, but it's REALLY slow and laggy.. the installer actually disabled the download updates at the beginning. I toggled the connection, but it didn't see it as valid. Anyways, fast forward to package install, and the installer hangs trying to contact the ubuntu server to download packages. I was able to use skip to finish the installation16:01
balloonswhen I say hung.. well, it just kept trying to hit the ubuntu server and didn't suceeed.. it wasn't going to succeed.. I'm not sure if it would ever have continued on it's own16:02
elfyballoons: if you need it checked - I can do a non-networked install to me too something16:02
balloonselfy, sure.. It just seems like ubiquity will try and use the connection if it finds one.. and in my case, the connection isn't really valid so it can't use it16:03
balloonsI'm going to have a look at the log16:05
elfyso are we talking here about a new install - already installed system here balloons16:08
balloonsnew install, beta116:08
balloonsI'll paste the log16:13
balloonsit's semi-interesting16:13
elfyubuntu - or will xubuntu do ?16:13
balloonshttp://paste.ubuntu.com/1186023/16:14
balloonsso, interesting that ubiquity will still build a sources file with the network sources16:14
balloonsperhaps this is normal, to force a timeout on them.. I'm not sure.. also it's intersting to see the ubuntu i386 entries in there..16:15
elfyok - I'll get tyhe ubuntu beta and have a go - so disable network prior to starting the install16:15
balloonsjibel might be able to tell me more. Otherwise, I'm going to have to repeat some installs and pull the logs on them to see how it works16:15
balloonselfy, you can leave it on16:15
balloonsbut don't tell it to install updates16:16
elfyok16:16
elfyoh I never ever do that16:16
balloonsthen, after partitioning, it will pull updates anyway16:16
elfyok - will check it out16:16
balloonsis there anyway you can leave networking on, but keep the network local?16:16
balloonsor block the archive?16:16
balloonsthat would simluate what I had16:16
balloonsno external inet access.. only internal16:17
elfymmm - all my machines are ethernet to router16:17
elfynot sure I'll be able to replicate16:17
balloonswell, I'm curious what it will do16:18
balloonswe'll see when we pull the log from it :-)16:18
elfyballoons: ok - well it's downloading now - will clarify exactly what you want when I boot it16:21
forestpiskieballoons: ping17:27
balloonspong17:27
forestpiskiethat took longer than I anticipated lol - had to feed child - so what exactly do you want me to do - install - leave net connected - not tell it to update ?17:28
balloonsforestpiskie, yes17:34
balloonsand pull the logs when your done :-)17:35
forestpiskiek17:35
forestpiskiewhich logs you want ?17:35
balloons/var/log/installer17:35
forestpiskieokey doke17:35
balloonssyslog mostly is the interesing piece17:35
forestpiskieyep - will do and then will escape back to the relative calm of 12.10 xubuntu :D17:36
forestpiskiewhat's with the funky symbols in the partition window that mean absolutely nothing :(17:37
balloonsthey do things17:38
balloonsthere's a bug to add some tooltips17:38
forestpiskiemmm17:38
forestpiskiecreate partition - that's going to freak people out - what happened to calling it Edit ...17:38
forestpiskieballoons: so var/log/installer/debug and /var/log/syslog ?17:54
balloonsforestpiskie, sure.. what's it look like?17:54
balloonspaste it if your ok with thta17:55
forestpiskiehttp://pastebin.com/mjMuZAhk and http://pastebin.com/MnhFVq1r17:56

balloonslooking now18:08
elfylol - glad you've got them - cos I certainly haven't anymore :p18:08
balloonsyea.. it hit the archive18:09
balloonsI'll have to ask the team about it18:09
balloonsit also hit the archive to download some things18:10
balloonsthanks, this is perfect18:10
elfycool - well if it makes it to a bug - give me link to me to it18:10
elfyI think I saw it downloading lang files - I used to disconnect when installing18:11

noskcajcan you download the beta through testdrive?19:53
balloonsnoskcaj, yes20:01
balloonsif you sync the image in testdrive, you will get the lastest version of the image20:01
balloonsso.. right now that would be the beta candidate iso images20:01
noskcajjust the daily image?20:01
balloonsif you wait until after beta is released, it will grab the new daily image -- I trust that makes sense20:02
noskcajyes, thanks20:02
