tjaaltonwonderful, mesa failed to build on md6403:27
RAOFOdd? Why?03:38
Sarvatthttps://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/9.0~git20120903.e1673d20-0ubuntu1/+build/376845203:39
Sarvattthats bad, screwed updates for amd64 people03:40
tjaaltonbuilt just fine on my sbuilder, dammit03:40
tjaaltonand my ppa it seems03:41
Sarvattnew git checkout probably fixes it, only like 30 radeon/llvm commits since then03:44
Sarvattok most of those are radeonsi we dont enable :)03:45
tjaaltonsure we do03:45
tjaaltonon mesa at least03:45
Sarvattoh i was thinking USE_R600_LLVM_COMPILER03:46
ajmitchso it should be relatively safe at the moment to install from the q-lts-backport ppa, I assume? 03:46
* ajmitch can pick up pieces if things go wrong03:46
Sarvattajmitch: not sure, the guy updating that ppa has been on vacation for 2 weeks, it might not be ok03:47
ajmitchah, he's still touring .au?03:47
Sarvattlots of changes in quantal since then03:47
Sarvatti've been on vacation too and havent kept up03:48
* ajmitch mostly wanted the kernel, but new X on ivy bridge was tempting to try out03:48
ajmitchI'll wait for a bit before I update that part then03:48
tjaaltonthat is kept uptodate03:48
tjaaltonby the kernel team, so go ahead and use the kernel03:49
Sarvatttjaalton: it still has mesa 8.0.4, way out of date03:49
tjaaltonjust fine for ivy03:49
Sarvatt3.6 kernel is the biggest boost for ivy at the moment03:50
ajmitchis that still likely to land for quantal?03:50
tjaaltonwho wants boost, stability is what I'm after :)03:50
Sarvattnope 3.503:51
tjaalton3.4-> is what provides that03:51
* ajmitch wants stability, this zareason laptop came with an odd 3.3.6 kernel from a PPA which is far from ideal03:51
Sarvattzareason shipped a ppa with a 3.3 kernel?03:52
Sarvattyeah 3.5 is way better off03:52
Sarvatt3.2 had problems that is taking quite a long time to backport fixes to03:53
ajmitchyeah I suspect that's why they used what they did, but it has some serious issues, I prefer to recommend they use something tested03:53
tjaaltonoh i'm not on ubuntu-announce, that's why didn't notice beta was released03:56
ajmitchyou're missing out :)03:56
tjaaltonbefore these were sent to u-d-a03:58
Sarvattzareason is strange, they ship what works, theres lots of people paid to make 3.2 work for oems which we're doing for lenovo hp asus and dell but -proposed updates only come once every 3 weeks so it takes awhile, by now 3.2 in -proposed should be ok (aka 3.2.0-31) but 3.5.x aka quantal really is optimal for performance reasons03:58
tjaaltonah, didn't know we have mesa 9.0 in quantal..03:58
Sarvatttjaalton: you uploaded it........03:58
tjaaltona snapshot, yes03:58
tjaaltonoh well :)03:59
ajmitchSarvatt: it is a bit strange, they're a small team & have set up a NZ shop recently, so I met them last weekend03:59
tjaaltonjust sent one more patch to backport to 3.2.x, no reply yet though04:00
tjaaltonben is probably on holiday, no activity since aug 19th04:02
tjaaltonon the stable tree at least04:02
tjaaltontriggered a mesa rebuild on amd64, went fine this time ..05:00
tjaaltonbf ->05:00
RAOF--parallel issues?05:01
tjaaltonmost likely05:15
Sarvattcool05:16
RAOFtjaalton: What was that -intel bug where compiz was hung with a black screen after resume, waiting for a swap that'll never complete?06:16
RAOFtjaalton: Nevermind; backscroll wins!06:17
tjaalton:)06:17
tjaalton96674406:17
tjaaltonso I've hit other bugs trying to reproduce that :/06:18
tjaalton+while06:18
RAOFtjaalton: Were you still reproducing that on Quantal? Jason Warner & Didier seem to be seeing it.06:23
tjaaltonRAOF: yeah, but not that frequently06:24
tjaaltonwas it you or ickle who suggested to run compiz with xtrace06:24
RAOFickle, I think.06:25
tjaaltonuploaded intel-gpu-tools 1.3, forgot to close the bug on the changelog06:36
RAOF:)06:39
tjaalton"oops, no ffe"06:39
tjaaltonRAOF: hey, could you accept gvfs for precise-proposed, fixes bug 81930407:14
ubottuLaunchpad bug 819304 in gvfs (Ubuntu Precise) "gvfsd-cdda crashed with signal 5 in _g_dbus_oom()" [Low,In progress] https://launchpad.net/bugs/81930407:15
dilekshi. are you planning mesa-9.0 backports in q-lts-backport ppa?09:14
tjaaltonlater09:20
tjaaltonthe whole stack will be copied09:20
tjaaltonwhat gets in quantal09:20
dilekswhat means exactly later, one of the next betas or very later?09:22
dileksI can do packaging myself, thats not the problem.09:22
tjaaltonit doesn't need packaging but running scripts09:23
tjaaltonmaybe next week once maarten is back from vacation09:23
dileksscripts sounds good09:23
dilekswhere are those "scripts"?09:23
tjaaltonbzr somewhere, i was supposed to review them but.. :P09:24
tjaaltonseem to be working fine09:24
dileksI was thinking of bumping to xserver-1.13 (final) and take sources for libdrm/intelgfx from quantal09:25
dilekshmm, v2.20.6 released of intelgfx ddx09:25
tjaaltoncan't wait until next week?09:26
dilekslooks like I only need to rebuild quantal package09:27
dileksno. want to do some drm-intel-next testing.09:28
tjaaltonthen run quantal09:30
dileksmaybe09:30
dileksjust read today an article about q beta is released09:30
dileksanyway, got to go09:32
dileksthanks for the informations09:32
tjaaltonyw09:33
tjaaltonapw: did you have issues with the mesa in quantal? mind giving the newer snapshot a try if yes?10:36
apwtjaalton, is it in -proposed?10:36
apwtjaalton, or has it been in there a few days?10:36
tjaaltonsince after the beta, but hang on10:36
apwthe machine which was very unwell has -proposed enabled and now seems ok10:38
tjaaltonit went straight to quantal10:38
tjaaltonbut there are people saying that a compiz/unity update fixed it, probably papering over the actual bug10:38
tjaaltonsince compiz is using gles now10:38
apwtjaalton, yes then i think i see the same10:38
apwas the issue went away around monday10:39
tjaaltonhmm10:39
tjaaltonok, well good to know that it's better, now to figure out how to find out if the old bug is still there10:40
tjaaltondowngrading compiz isn't easy, I'm told10:40
