[00:00] paul_, the database should be setup for you [00:01] you will need to go though mythtv-setup though [00:04] Still, I always wind up with myth cannot access the database even after going thru mythtv-setup [00:05] paul_, the frontend? [00:08] I have been through the frontend setup but I always seem to wind up where I can't escape from it. I keep getting the Locale-language screen and the next one and when I try to escape, it goes back to xfce briefly then restarts. [00:13] I'm going to go back and do the initial ubuntu installation again and start all over. I will do mythtv-setup first as the frontend seems to need all that done up front. [01:01] hdhr prime is was more reliable than firewire [01:15] Went thru it again...did mythtv-setup, ran mythfilldatabase, then went to the frontend setup and made sure the hostname was same as the server name in mythtv-setup...still stuck with "cant connect to database" [01:17] Im back [01:54] hey tgm4883 you around? [01:54] did an upgrade to .26 via mythbuntu control center [01:54] now mythtv-setup just outputs in a terminal 'Waiting for database schema upgrade lock' [01:56] also seeing this 'I CoreContext dbcheck.cpp:463 (UpgradeTVDatabaseSchema) Waiting for database schema upgrade lock' [02:01] is there a way to rerun the db upgrade script? [02:10] nevermind, mysql got locked up, [02:29] Does anyone actually have this mess working or is that why its called "myth"? Can't ever get the frontend to talk to the database. Done 6 fresh installs now...giving up for now cuz its on the wife's computer and she needs a box to work with. [02:34] paul_, is the backend running? [02:35] oh and this 'paul_> Does anyone actually have this mess working or is that why its called "myth"?' REALLY makes me want to help you [03:54] I have "This Mess " working great [03:54] tgm4883, you around [03:55] just wondering about the scope is all going to look at trunk right now [03:55] Or branch or whatever it is called
