I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 server image (http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/12.04/release/ubuntu-12.04-preinstalled-server-armhf+omap.img.gz) on BeagleBoard XM C1. I've like to know how can I extend it to gui. I installed lubuntu-desktop package but tty7 is blank and it always boot to tty1 [12:46] s/I've/I'd like to know* [19:50] infinity, I found some mislicensed files in the armadaxp kernel. So we'll wait till there's a new upload, the current one can sit in the PPA only for now :) [19:50] 'all rights reserved' as you suggested was the right pattern to search for [20:11] Hello! I've installed ubuntu-server image on BeagleBoard XM C1. I'd like to know how I can get gui. Installing lubuntu-desktop package is failing with blank screen on tty7 and booting always stop on tty1 [20:13] And, what is the difference between arm-none-linux-gnueabi-gcc and gcc-arm-linux-gnueabi ? [20:17] no real difference [20:18] debian/buntu use 3-part triplets for compiler names. Others (upstream, code sourcery) often use 4-part 'triplets' [20:19] the 'none' is nominally the vendor [20:19] I'd guess your desktop isn;t working due to video device driver issues, but I've no idea which packages you need [20:25] wookey: I've the following setup for display. BB > HDMI > HDMI to DVI-D adapter > DVI-D compatible monitor. I downloaded and install ubuntu-server image for ARM following Ubuntu ARM wiki page. On boot, on both serial terminal and monitor, I get tty1 login. Later, I installed lubuntu-desktop package and restarted, it still didn't work always reverting back to tty1. [20:26] Then, after installing xserver-video-omap3 pacakge(if I remember the name right), it behaved in same manner. Is there anything I'm missing? [20:36] Well lastly, how can I DSP support if I try ubuntu-desktop preinstalled images for ARM on BeagleBoard XM C1? [20:50] * RoyK is using a standard Ubuntu Precise on his Pandaboard and it works ok [21:07] Hi RoyK, Is there a DSP on Pandaboard? Did you try anything which requires using DSP on the board? [23:17] hmm orated left. Oh well [23:30] does somebody know why "allow-hotplug" support is removed in ubuntu? (/etc/network/interfaces)
