[03:58] Hi everyone [03:58] hello === She is now known as Guest49245 [09:14] hi, all [09:19] hi Guest49245 [10:06] jea: [10:07] here now [10:07] sorry for being late [10:07] #startmeeting [10:07] Meeting started Sun Sep 9 10:07:59 2012 UTC. The chair is jea. Information about MeetBot at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/meetingology. [10:17] previous online events have been mediocre at best, release parties seem to fare a bit better, if people are to organise them [10:18] Yes, agree with that. The release parties and the Brisbane demo day worked fairly well [10:18] I think it would be good to create a 'template' for running such an event, so it is easier for people to do [10:19] yes, perhaps. [10:19] though this cycle I'm unable to hold a release party [10:20] Will you be at UDS then? [10:20] and I'm under the impression that head_victim can't do a brisbane one either [10:20] Yes, that does seem likely [10:20] no, it's just that I'm not in Sydney around the release date [10:21] right. I can understand that [10:22] I just don't think the demand is there for it [10:22] #topic Quantal Release Parties [10:23] I agree [10:23] We have just had a LTS, which had a lot of publicity [10:23] so I don't think 12.10 will be as sought after [10:24] If anyone would like to hold a release party in their area, please send an email to the Mailing List [10:25] There are people available to offer assistance with planning and running it, but is very simple to do [10:26] still, it's a long time until the next LTS to wait for release parties [10:26] definitely [10:26] I think demand will not be there for this release, but next April will have more interest [10:28] maybe we should move on to the next topic [10:28] #topic Customisation [10:28] It was brought up on the mailing list that it is possible to customise the Ubuntu installer slideshow [10:28] http://www.dylanmccall.com/blog/2012/09/05/installer-slideshow-customization/ [10:28] A slide for the loco and a get involved pitch would work [10:29] I think it is worth doing, as long as we can easily make the new images [10:30] by images, I mean the ISO files [10:31] Maybe this could be done at the same time as finally making a customised version for Australia [10:32] We have started the customisation a couple of times, but never finished [10:33] Could we have a couple of meetings online to get the customisation done? [10:35] meeting [10:35] md_5: welcome to the meeting [10:36] bit late this time, #ubuntu-au stopped being on xchat hilight [10:36] that is alright [10:36] there are not many people here tonight [10:37] md_5: do you have any thoughts on customisation? [10:40] seems nice, the ubuntu team should really allow each loco to put in one slide [10:40] (that will be selected based on locale) [10:40] I guess we could propose that to the responsible people [10:42] So at this stage, we like the idea, but more discussion and work is needed to get the customisation done [10:43] I will try to look in to this more, and reply to the mailing list thread [10:45] Does anyone have anything to add to the meeting tonight? [10:45] * md_5 pokes sagaci [10:48] I guess not then [10:48] nah not really [10:48] Well, we may as well close the meeting. More promotion will be done for the next one [10:49] yeah [10:49] Next meeting will be on October 14 [10:49] just before relase [10:49] release [10:49] When does daylight saving start? [10:49] uh [10:49] 7th oct [10:50] ok. We may need to change the time of the next meeting [10:51] I will check with head_victim and let everyone know [10:51] Thanks sagaci and md_5 for attending [10:51] #endmeeting [10:51] Meeting ended Sun Sep 9 10:51:46 2012 UTC. Hope that was alright [13:43] jea: perfect :) [13:44] As for the release party, I'm pretty sure I'll be just finishing or just starting some uni modules [13:45] And all for at least setting up the customisation. I'm sure people like jellyware would distribute the modified ISO. [14:23] Nicke cloak btw jea :) And on that note, I'm off for the evening. === md_5|away is now known as md_5 === md_5 is now known as md_5|away
