[01:45] I've been trying to install Ubuntu 12.10 Beta 1 in a virtual machiene. It doesn't even work at ALL in VMWare. If I try in VirtualBox, ubiquity-dm crashes when I go to Something Else > New Patrition > [Plus Button] [01:46] Both are at the latest versions (VMWare and VirtualBox), 64 bit, Ubuntu 12.10, Linux kernel 3.5.3 [01:46] Anyone know of this bug and/or how to resolve it? === Logan_ is now known as RebeccaBlack === RebeccaBlack is now known as Logan_ === jtechidna is now known as JontheEchidna === jtechidna is now known as JontheEchidna === md_5|away is now known as md_5 [06:34] * gnomefreak learned how to change tabs with keyboard :) [06:34] nice gnomefreak :) [06:36] anyone know if i need python3-aptdaemon.pkcompat? [06:36] thanks jokerdino [06:37] gnomefreak: i guess you would need it. 12.10 is to ship with python3 as default [06:37] well damn that sucks badly [06:41] umm, it will ship with some things ported to python 3 [06:41] btw, why does deja dup crash horribly? [06:42] let me find the bug report.. on sec [06:42] dont know i stopped using it. i haqd trouble getting files to back up. it would only let me save folders [06:44] oh screw it what is the worst that can happen [06:44] haha [06:45] gnomefreak: it's only a recommends, so need is too strong a word [06:47] bug #1033887 [06:47] Launchpad bug 1033887 in deja-dup (Ubuntu) "backup fails with error" [Undecided,Confirmed] https://launchpad.net/bugs/1033887 [06:52] jokerdino: that function isn't unicode sage [06:52] *safe [06:53] micahg: what do you suggest? the backup fails for me [06:53] jokerdino: someone should fix the bug [06:54] jokerdino: is it a regression over precise? [06:54] micahg: i am not sure. i never had it installed in precise. [09:13] worrying that beta1 is almost useless ... graphics randomly just screwed (on external monitor), laggy and sometimes all windows lose keyboard focus (not able to type, mouse commands go through) [09:14] vega-: report bugs [09:14] vega-: its a beta, what do you expect [09:15] more, based on what previous betas or even alphas have been [09:15] vega-: same with all DEs? [09:15] yep [09:16] my choices seem to be default ubuntu, gnome, gnome classic and gnome classic ( no effects) [09:16] no unity 2d anymore [09:16] (which was the one working the best with 12.04) [09:19] so all gnome then, not tried XFCE or KDE? [09:19] no don't have those installed and not going to use them anyway.. [09:21] uit may just be a gnome issue [09:22] but, you aren't up for exploring that possibility.. [09:23] no time for that at this stage.. [09:24] but you have time for losing keyboard and laggy screen? === rigved is now known as Guest83067 [10:38] is this the channel if you have issues with 12.10? compiz no longer loads, fglrx is not installing I think, needs dependencies that are no longer in 12.10 [10:40] yes this is 12.10 channel [10:40] oddie: ah there any bugs reported?
