Can anyone help me out with this? === doko_ is now known as doko === phh_ is now known as phh [13:41] Hello! I'm using Beagleboard XM running Canonical Ubuntu 12.04 3.2.0-30-omap. [14:49] hi [14:50] i do have an efika smartbook but i cannot upgrade the ubuntu os [14:51] how is it failing ? [14:51] i do get error [14:51] server error [14:52] i have tried many times the same thing [14:52] (note that the images for this device were built by genesi, its unlikely that we can easily work out a fix here) [14:52] server error ? [14:52] thats the exact text you get ? [14:53] fail to get packages [14:53] i do want to install another os on it [14:53] can you check with "lsb_release -a" what version of ubuntu you are actually running there ? [14:54] 10.10 [14:54] it came with it [14:54] and what server does it try to connect ? [14:55] 10.10 is definitely still available in the repos [14:55] egypt [14:55] egypt ? [14:55] as my os is in arabic [14:55] ??? [14:55] ubuntu egypt [14:56] do you have the server address it tries to connect to ? [14:56] the outcome error server not found [14:57] or if i want to install a fresh os on it [14:57] how to proceed [14:57] ask genesi ? [14:58] there might be linaro images, not sure ... [14:58] ok i will do e-mail genesi [14:58] we have never officially supported this device with ubuntu so its hard to tell [14:58] ok [14:58] the userspace shoudl be upgradeable though, not sure why genesi made yours point to an egyptian server [14:59] since all arm packages are stored on ports.ubuntu.com and usually not mirrored [15:16] ogra_: we didn't [15:17] anything pointing to anything other than ports.ubuntu.com is a user customization [15:18] ah, good [15:18] sadly he is gone now [15:18] ftr we're working on a precise image currently [15:20] it works fine with the 2.6.31 kernel but we're working on getting mainline kernel up to snuff [15:20] neat [15:44] ogra_: happen to know if there is a uclibc cross compiler for arm (as in, runs on an arm glibc host) ? [15:45] not in ubuntu afaik [15:45] :/ [15:45] there might be some oout of archive stuff enbdebian has [15:45] i have a trimslice here that runs natty [15:45] well, i'm typing on an ac100 netbook running precise :) [15:45] i'll poke konstantinos [15:45] (nearly the same ting as the trimslice just with a nice shell) [15:46] yeah [15:46] ogra_: Not dogfooding??? [15:46] the trimslice is "nice" but man does it get hot [15:46] GrueMaster: dogfooding is crazy talk (that said, i use the hell out of my smartbook) [15:46] GrueMaster, waiting for nvidia to release a binary driver for xorg abi 13 [15:46] +1 cooler if use powered hub for keyboard and mouse [15:46] ogra_: there is one i thought [15:46] so for now i stay with precise [15:47] in the tegra dev zone or whatever, the latest hardfloat drivers I *thought* had one [15:47] GrueMaster, apart from that i'm not such a big fan of lubuntu or xubuntu ... and ubuntu-desktop is no more for arm :) [15:47] but it may be ventana only [15:47] ogra_: hm? where did it go? [15:47] well ... it is but you wont run it without binary drivers [15:48] steev, ubuntu-desktop requires GLES acceleration [15:48] from quantal on [15:48] Sadly, I am currently forced into a sort of dog fooding experience. Very hot slow Intel processors running Windows 7. Ick. [15:48] nothing wrong with that [15:48] and there is no working llvmpipe for arm yet [15:48] GrueMaster, great, take them home, winder is near ! [15:48] *winter [15:49] steev, no, nothing worng with that apart from the fact that you need drivers for GLES :) [15:49] I wish. Of course, i would have to reimage them first to a more stable OS. [15:55] GrueMaster: crazy talk [15:55] windows is stable as long as you don't run anything on it! [15:55] yu mean like a mousepointer ? [15:57] heh [16:00] On my netbook, Windows 7 Home Starter (most useless version available) takes ~2 minutes to boot on my Intel 520 series SSD. Ubuntu, booting off a partition on the same device takes ~12 seconds. [16:01] you should try LennartOS^Wfedora ... systemd will make it boot in -12 seconds === Ursinha` is now known as Ursinha === Ursinha is now known as Ursula [16:03] Nah.
