[00:18] Hey question for the Loco team here... would you guys be interested in demoing a ZaReason UltraBook? [00:19] At OLF on saturday? [00:28] Cheri703: ping [00:28] snap-l: ping [00:28] o/ [00:28] I'm not the best person to ask about ZaReason >_> I had a bad experience [00:28] I'm a ZaReason contact. [00:29] I was actually considering reaching out to System76, as we've had contact with them in the past with OLF [00:29] They want to know if you would be willing to demo the ultrabook at OLF [00:29] Also, you guys have many Kubuntu users in the LoCo? [00:30] actually, we would want to check with OLF folks, as we were given an "org" table, so I don't know if product demos will be kosher with the whole free org table thing [00:30] I'll email the guy [00:31] ahhh, Okay. [00:32] if we'd paid for the table, it'd probably be totally fine, but I just sent an email. I don't want to run afoul of them since they were so awesome about it. [00:33] Of course. [00:33] I'll let you know when I get an answer [00:34] Sweet. :) I'm always on. [00:34] k [00:34] You know of any Kubuntu users in the loco? [00:34] I'm always looking for more KDE nuts [00:34] :) [00:35] hmm...I know Unit193 uses...something-other-than-vanilla-buntu, I believe L and X though [00:35] Cheri703: Spot on. [00:35] Darkwing: BiosElement. [00:36] I tried kubuntu a few times, but I kept having major issues with the package thing, kept erroring out and wouldn't let me install or update anything :s happened with multiple iso downloads and attempts, so I said screw it [00:36] Unit193: I was going to pm you, I haven't seen you around in a while! how are you? [00:36] Okay sweet. [00:37] Cheri703: I be alive, just hiding in other channels/things. You doing well I take it ? [00:37] yeah, I'm alright overall [00:38] Darkwing: wong [00:38] pong, even [00:38] hehehe. Cheri703 answered my Q [00:39] Ah, no worries [00:39] ZaReason was just looking to see if you guys wanted to Demo an Ultrabook with Ubuntu [01:04] DavidLevin: You work with/for ZaReason? [01:05] canthus13, Canoncial [01:05] Ah. [01:06] Sorry. There have been... issues with ZaReason's CEO lady. :/ [01:41] DavidLevin: That was actually meant for Darkwing. [03:02] Darkwing: I was a big kde fan...but they lost me after the big transition [03:02] When they went from 1.0 to 2.0, it just didn't run the same... [14:40] DavidLevin: you going to be at OLF? [15:13] dzho, not planing on it [15:25] DavidLevin: ah, ok. Do you go to any FOSS/Linux events. [15:25] ? [15:28] dzho, many people from Canonical attend these events. I go so some of them, mostly meetups and lugs. [15:32] * dzho nods [15:32] ok, thanks. [15:34] Darkwing: ping [15:38] paultag: when you getting into town for the mtg? [16:18] dzho: mtg? [17:22] OLF [17:22] paultag: ^^ [17:22] * dzho just registered [17:22] ah [17:22] Friday, methinks [17:30] Cheri703: ping [17:30] pong rather [17:30] hey, so I heard back from OLF guy [17:30] " it should be fine if you use the Ultrabook to demo Ubuntu software and don't have commercial materials from ZaReason (things like sales materials) You should be able to mention that the laptop was provided by Zareason" [17:31] so...ZERO sales info, just "here's ubuntu! oh and it's a zareason laptop" [17:31] Cheri703: Epic. [17:31] I'll bring the Ultrabook on Saturday. [17:32] I will be completely honest with you, I had a HORRIBLE experience with that company, including the CEO badmouthing me to other customers behind my back and lying about me, so...I'm REALLY wary of anything to do with them as a company at all [17:32] *also badmouthing me to my face [17:32] also the netbook I got was a POS, so...yep [17:37] Yeah, I understand. I've been working with them in developing KDE plasma (Tablet) and Kubuntu Plasma to release on the new ZaTab. [17:37] that's awesome, I just have no respect for them as people :) [17:37] some of their newer products might be good [17:37] the one I had was crap [17:37] :D I have not worked with them long enough to establish an opinion. I swear by Dell and Lenovo for laptops. [17:38] they gave me a tablet to develop on so, I'm happy so far :P [17:38] Actually, they did that last UDS. [17:43] Anyway... [17:47] nice, ok, well, go ahead and bring it, and we'll go from there :) [21:09] wait [21:09] KDE on a tablet [21:09] I want to see this. Always thought it'd be better as a tabletish shell [21:09] Qt is just so much uglier then GTK+ by default, though [21:12] plus, Qt is really stiffing me right now [21:22] paultag: a guy I know at #interlock has been yammering about the KDE tablet thingie since approximately forever [21:22] he's a big KDE user [21:22] and his n900 died the true death [21:22] hahaha [21:22] oh god [21:22] so, he's been jonesing for something else mobile and freeish [21:23] "plasma active" is the flavor, apparently [21:23] and it now is called Vivaldi, had been called Spark, but I guess there was some trademark conflict over that or something. [21:25] innnnteresting. [21:25] ah, looks like the hardware vendor stabbed them in the back [21:25] http://liliputing.com/2012/09/vivaldi-kde-plasma-linux-tablet-delayed-devs-looking-at-new-hardware.html [21:25] freakin' ARM [21:25] what a mess
