omac | rsalveti: good evening | 08:24 |

omac | i noticed the ubuntu full image available for arm uses the linaro stuff. | 08:25 |

infinity | omac: Uses "the linaro stuff"? | 08:51 |
omac | well from what I understand there is a linuxonandroid installer. It refers to an ubuntu1204-v4-full.zip | 08:53 |
infinity | Oh, the linuxandroid stuff. I thought you meant the official Ubuntu images. | 08:54 |
infinity | And was confused. :P | 08:54 |
omac | that zip when launched spews out information...I saw linaro mentioned in the boot messages | 08:54 |
infinity | Well, if "Linaro" was mentioned in the kernel version, that's because it's in our compiler version stamp. | 08:55 |
omac | infinity I have an advent vega and tried some different roms out there, but source for them is confusingly everywhere with different branches. | 08:56 |
omac | cyanogenmod's version for the vega seems broken because I can't get usb-host-mode working so that I can use a mouse and keyboard with it. | 08:57 |
omac | I have vegacomb3.2 installed, but it's a binary but it works and has shuttle gui tools to go into host mode. | 08:58 |
omac | the odd thing is once I boot up the ubuntu1204-v4-full.zip within it, when I do an lsusb in it, it doesn't list any devices. | 08:59 |
omac | infinity: you made a distinction about official ubuntu images. They don't mention anything about advent vega. ubuntu only mention a few other arm devices. | 09:06 |
lilstevie | omac, not every arm device out there is supported officially by ubuntu | 09:13 |
lilstevie | there are a few devices though that are supported by third parties | 09:14 |
omac | pandaboard and pi and some other cool stuff I've seen. | 09:17 |
omac | I don't own those yet though. I would love to simply use what I have. I thought owning an android device gave me digital liberties I was used to having with ubuntu. I was wrong. | 09:18 |
lilstevie | I don't think the pi has an official image 0.o | 09:19 |
omac | pandaboard has a lot of stuff out there and you can build a cluster with those. VERY COOL. | 09:20 |
ogra_ | lilstevie, i doub even an inofficial one :) | 09:21 |
omac | I saw arm based ubuntu laptop available, but the image on it is ubuntu 10.10 | 09:23 |
omac | pandaboards are running 12.04...that's an edge for these. | 09:24 |
omac | I currently can connect my Advent Vega with VegaComb3.2 Rom to my ubuntu Quantal Quetzal via usb and run/debug from eclipse ADT(android plugin), but I would have liked to see the ubuntu gui on the Advent Vega. I have not succeeded in seeing Unity displayed on the Advent Vega yet. | 09:28 |
omac | any way for me to get ubuntu arm debug messages spewed back to my ubuntu quantal quetzal computer? | 09:29 |
omac | It would help me to understand why unity takes so long to boot up on the advent vega tablet. The other concern is memory/cpu cycles. android is still running while ubuntu is running. I would love a way to simply halt the cpu cycles on the android side and place all the priority on the ubuntu side. | 09:31 |

ogra_ | stgraber, highvoltage, just FYI i have proper console (after initrd) now on the zatab .... still no MMC and still only 350MB | 15:27 |
ogra_ | (and still no touchscreen ... and wrt driver it looks pretty bad atm (proprietary blob apparently) | 15:27 |
ogra_ | but with the initrd we can at least see if it fails mounting / | 15:28 |
stgraber | nice! | 15:36 |
ogra_ | yay | 15:47 |
* ogra_ has plymouth fsck in front f him | 15:47 | |
highvoltage | ogra_: how do I get it? do you have an image up somewhere? | 15:50 |
ogra_ | so the trick is to build *all* display related parts as modules | 15:50 |
ogra_ | as long as "disp" is a module it will init a framebuffer console | 15:51 |
ogra_ | (do not compire fbcon, not even as a module) | 15:51 |
highvoltage | heh, and here I thought it's always less problematic to do it the other way around | 15:51 |
ogra_ | indeed having it as a module you better want an initrd :) | 15:51 |
ogra_ | i wonder if making the mmc stuff modular would fix that too :P | 15:55 |
stgraber | well, at least you could try to change load time options (assuming the mmc module has any) | 16:05 |
zenx | is anyone able to compile 3.5.0-211.18 for omap4 pandaboard? | 17:12 |
zenx | wow, lxde is so light it doesn't even come with a mouse cursor | 18:11 |
zenx | :D | 18:11 |
