mighty_abobaHi) Does someone have problem with the installing of vcrun6?05:44
mighty_abobaIn wine?05:44
muzzolhi12:47
muzzolanyone get ffado 2.1 compiled and working?12:47
holsteinmuzzol: do you think you need it?14:04
SUBSTANC3I just tried installing ubuntu studio w/ a usb, and for some reason, even though we told it not to, it formatted the USB and promptly froze(the reason we knew it was formatted was that it didn't have a partition when I checked afterwords). I'm worred that it's going to do this to my windows partition, and I'm just wanting to confirm that it won't.14:30
SUBSTANC3I'm using ubuntu via wubi right now, but it's not easy to set up all the production applications that I want to use, and I think ubuntu studio would be easier :)14:32
len-dtSUBSTANC3, I don't know how you were able to do that. I have installed Studio many times, (3 times just in the past week for testing) and never had that happen.14:46
SUBSTANC3len-dt: ok, then I probably don't need to worry, but I'll back up my project files and important data just in case. Thanks!!14:47
len-dtYes I would do that.14:47
SUBSTANC3;)14:47
SUBSTANC3Also, is there a wubi for Ubuntu Studio?14:47
SUBSTANC3That would be easiest.14:48
len-dtSo far as I know there is just the two ISOs one for live 64bit and one for live 32 bit.14:48
len-dtYou can run with the live ISO instead of installing too.14:49
SUBSTANC3Meh, oh well.14:49
SUBSTANC3There sould be one14:49
SUBSTANC3I'd use it14:49
SUBSTANC3But oh well14:49
SUBSTANC3The problem is that my laptop doesn't have a cd drive14:49
SUBSTANC3it's an ultrabook14:49
SUBSTANC3that's also ultra compact14:49
len-dtI think we would go for an alt first. There are really not that many of us doing things right now.14:49
SUBSTANC3and they aparently didn't have room to put a cd drive :)14:50
SUBSTANC3Heh, ok14:50
len-dtI run on a netbook. Using a USB works nicer anyway.14:50
SUBSTANC3ok, well i'll try the install again14:50
SUBSTANC3and if i have any more problems then i'll post them as a bug14:51
SUBSTANC3or something to that effect14:51
SUBSTANC3probably i'll check back here first14:51
SUBSTANC3:)14:51
len-dtSure. We are always open. there is not always someone to answer right away, but if the person is still on line we will when we see it14:52
SUBSTANC3ok :)14:52
SUBSTANC3Also, are you part of the project?14:52
len-dtYes.14:52
SUBSTANC3Could you include LMMS?14:53
SUBSTANC3I would find it useful if i didn't have to compile it :)14:53
smartboyhwSUBSTANC3, respect len-dt, he is the most active dev around these days:)14:53
len-dtThat would take a book14:53
SUBSTANC3lol14:53
len-dtto explain that one.14:53
SUBSTANC3ok14:53
SUBSTANC3i'll just compile it then14:53
SUBSTANC3not too hard :D14:53
smartboyhwlol14:54
len-dtThe app that comes with US is qtracktor, but you don't need to compile LMMS it is available for install14:54
len-dtsudo apt-get install lmms14:54
SUBSTANC3It is, however, the latest build is version 1014:55
SUBSTANC30.4.1014:55
SUBSTANC3i'm working with .13 in windows14:55
len-dtIf we included it, it would be whatever is in the ubuntu repo.14:55
SUBSTANC3and some of the mastering plugins that I use aren't in that version14:55
SUBSTANC3ok14:55
SUBSTANC3then dont include it lol14:55
* len-dt is just checking what is there14:56
len-dtYa that is 0.4.1314:56
* smartboyhw is installing the package to see14:56
smartboyhwlen-dt, it is 0.4.1014:57
smartboyhwIn the package.14:57
SUBSTANC3ok14:57
SUBSTANC3:D14:57
smartboyhwSetting up lmms (0.4.10-2ubuntu1) ...14:57
len-dtWhat ubuntu has depends on what the latest is in the debian14:57
len-dtOk, maybe I am seeing the kxstudio version14:58
smartboyhwlen-dt, you using kxstudio!?14:58
SUBSTANC3is there a version of it that's compiled?14:58
len-dtThough it does say Ubuntu Developers14:58
SUBSTANC3.13 that is14:59
len-dtI have the kxstudio repo set up on this machine14:59
len-dtIf you add the kxstudio repo (http://ppa.launchpad.net/kxstudio-team/ppa/ubuntu precise) I would guess that is where I get it from15:01
* smartboyhw is using quantal sorry LOL15:01
SUBSTANC3I might try that, although it might be easier to compile it15:01
SUBSTANC3:)15:01
* SUBSTANC3 is now afk15:02
* SUBSTANC3 has work to do :(15:02
SUBSTANC3thanks for the help :)15:02
=== SUBSTANC3 is now known as SUBSTANC3afk
len-dtOk15:02
SUBSTANC3afk:D15:02
* smartboyhw confirms that lmms .13 is used in kxstudio15:05
=== SUBSTANC3afk is now known as SUBSTANC3
SUBSTANC3len-dt: would it be easier to install it without booting to a live CD and just choosing the install option?16:05
SUBSTANC3I'm using windows to format my partition16:05
SUBSTANC3so all i have to do is create a new ext416:05
len-dtSUBSTANC3, I always install from the live session, others install from the boot screen16:06
SUBSTANC3ok16:06
SUBSTANC3i'll probably do that then16:06
SUBSTANC3when i was doing wubi, i created a seperate partition16:06
SUBSTANC3so i'll just format that16:06
len-dtI like to watch the output from /var/log/syslog while installing for test purposes and it is easier to do that from a live session16:07
SUBSTANC3ah16:07
SUBSTANC3ok16:07
SUBSTANC3is the installation/partitioning process any different?16:07
SUBSTANC3because if it's the same, then it probably won't matter16:07
len-dtThe installer is the same either way.16:08
SUBSTANC3ok then16:08
SUBSTANC3live it is16:08
SUBSTANC3:)16:08
SUBSTANC3i was thinking16:09
SUBSTANC3could i boot the installer with virtualbox16:09
SUBSTANC3and somehow get it to install on my computer16:09
SUBSTANC3while runing windows?16:09
SUBSTANC3that might be a bit difficult16:09
len-dtThat would be beyond my knowledge16:09
SUBSTANC3but i could probably have the live cd be located in the actual virtalbox virtal partition16:10
SUBSTANC3and then tell it to install on my laptop16:10
SUBSTANC3but that might majorly screw stuff up16:10
SUBSTANC3heh16:10
len-dtI just put my USB stick in and install it where I want it to go. I use the "something else" option when it asks where I want to install.16:15
len-dtAnyway, I am going away for a bit now. Talk later.16:15
SUBSTANC3bye16:16
