mighty_aboba | Hi) Does someone have problem with the installing of vcrun6? | 05:44 |
---|---|---|
mighty_aboba | In wine? | 05:44 |
muzzol | hi | 12:47 |
muzzol | anyone get ffado 2.1 compiled and working? | 12:47 |
holstein | muzzol: do you think you need it? | 14:04 |
SUBSTANC3 | I just tried installing ubuntu studio w/ a usb, and for some reason, even though we told it not to, it formatted the USB and promptly froze(the reason we knew it was formatted was that it didn't have a partition when I checked afterwords). I'm worred that it's going to do this to my windows partition, and I'm just wanting to confirm that it won't. | 14:30 |
SUBSTANC3 | I'm using ubuntu via wubi right now, but it's not easy to set up all the production applications that I want to use, and I think ubuntu studio would be easier :) | 14:32 |
len-dt | SUBSTANC3, I don't know how you were able to do that. I have installed Studio many times, (3 times just in the past week for testing) and never had that happen. | 14:46 |
SUBSTANC3 | len-dt: ok, then I probably don't need to worry, but I'll back up my project files and important data just in case. Thanks!! | 14:47 |
len-dt | Yes I would do that. | 14:47 |
SUBSTANC3 | ;) | 14:47 |
SUBSTANC3 | Also, is there a wubi for Ubuntu Studio? | 14:47 |
SUBSTANC3 | That would be easiest. | 14:48 |
len-dt | So far as I know there is just the two ISOs one for live 64bit and one for live 32 bit. | 14:48 |
len-dt | You can run with the live ISO instead of installing too. | 14:49 |
SUBSTANC3 | Meh, oh well. | 14:49 |
SUBSTANC3 | There sould be one | 14:49 |
SUBSTANC3 | I'd use it | 14:49 |
SUBSTANC3 | But oh well | 14:49 |
SUBSTANC3 | The problem is that my laptop doesn't have a cd drive | 14:49 |
SUBSTANC3 | it's an ultrabook | 14:49 |
SUBSTANC3 | that's also ultra compact | 14:49 |
len-dt | I think we would go for an alt first. There are really not that many of us doing things right now. | 14:49 |
SUBSTANC3 | and they aparently didn't have room to put a cd drive :) | 14:50 |
SUBSTANC3 | Heh, ok | 14:50 |
len-dt | I run on a netbook. Using a USB works nicer anyway. | 14:50 |
SUBSTANC3 | ok, well i'll try the install again | 14:50 |
SUBSTANC3 | and if i have any more problems then i'll post them as a bug | 14:51 |
SUBSTANC3 | or something to that effect | 14:51 |
SUBSTANC3 | probably i'll check back here first | 14:51 |
SUBSTANC3 | :) | 14:51 |
len-dt | Sure. We are always open. there is not always someone to answer right away, but if the person is still on line we will when we see it | 14:52 |
SUBSTANC3 | ok :) | 14:52 |
SUBSTANC3 | Also, are you part of the project? | 14:52 |
len-dt | Yes. | 14:52 |
SUBSTANC3 | Could you include LMMS? | 14:53 |
SUBSTANC3 | I would find it useful if i didn't have to compile it :) | 14:53 |
smartboyhw | SUBSTANC3, respect len-dt, he is the most active dev around these days:) | 14:53 |
len-dt | That would take a book | 14:53 |
SUBSTANC3 | lol | 14:53 |
len-dt | to explain that one. | 14:53 |
SUBSTANC3 | ok | 14:53 |
SUBSTANC3 | i'll just compile it then | 14:53 |
SUBSTANC3 | not too hard :D | 14:53 |
smartboyhw | lol | 14:54 |
len-dt | The app that comes with US is qtracktor, but you don't need to compile LMMS it is available for install | 14:54 |
len-dt | sudo apt-get install lmms | 14:54 |
SUBSTANC3 | It is, however, the latest build is version 10 | 14:55 |
SUBSTANC3 | 0.4.10 | 14:55 |
SUBSTANC3 | i'm working with .13 in windows | 14:55 |
len-dt | If we included it, it would be whatever is in the ubuntu repo. | 14:55 |
SUBSTANC3 | and some of the mastering plugins that I use aren't in that version | 14:55 |
SUBSTANC3 | ok | 14:55 |
SUBSTANC3 | then dont include it lol | 14:55 |
* len-dt is just checking what is there | 14:56 | |
len-dt | Ya that is 0.4.13 | 14:56 |
* smartboyhw is installing the package to see | 14:56 | |
smartboyhw | len-dt, it is 0.4.10 | 14:57 |
smartboyhw | In the package. | 14:57 |
SUBSTANC3 | ok | 14:57 |
SUBSTANC3 | :D | 14:57 |
smartboyhw | Setting up lmms (0.4.10-2ubuntu1) ... | 14:57 |
len-dt | What ubuntu has depends on what the latest is in the debian | 14:57 |
len-dt | Ok, maybe I am seeing the kxstudio version | 14:58 |
smartboyhw | len-dt, you using kxstudio!? | 14:58 |
SUBSTANC3 | is there a version of it that's compiled? | 14:58 |
len-dt | Though it does say Ubuntu Developers | 14:58 |
SUBSTANC3 | .13 that is | 14:59 |
len-dt | I have the kxstudio repo set up on this machine | 14:59 |
len-dt | If you add the kxstudio repo (http://ppa.launchpad.net/kxstudio-team/ppa/ubuntu precise) I would guess that is where I get it from | 15:01 |
* smartboyhw is using quantal sorry LOL | 15:01 | |
SUBSTANC3 | I might try that, although it might be easier to compile it | 15:01 |
SUBSTANC3 | :) | 15:01 |
* SUBSTANC3 is now afk | 15:02 | |
* SUBSTANC3 has work to do :( | 15:02 | |
SUBSTANC3 | thanks for the help :) | 15:02 |
=== SUBSTANC3 is now known as SUBSTANC3afk | ||
len-dt | Ok | 15:02 |
SUBSTANC3afk | :D | 15:02 |
* smartboyhw confirms that lmms .13 is used in kxstudio | 15:05 | |

SUBSTANC3 | len-dt: would it be easier to install it without booting to a live CD and just choosing the install option? | 16:05 |
SUBSTANC3 | I'm using windows to format my partition | 16:05 |
SUBSTANC3 | so all i have to do is create a new ext4 | 16:05 |
len-dt | SUBSTANC3, I always install from the live session, others install from the boot screen | 16:06 |
SUBSTANC3 | ok | 16:06 |
SUBSTANC3 | i'll probably do that then | 16:06 |
SUBSTANC3 | when i was doing wubi, i created a seperate partition | 16:06 |
SUBSTANC3 | so i'll just format that | 16:06 |
len-dt | I like to watch the output from /var/log/syslog while installing for test purposes and it is easier to do that from a live session | 16:07 |
SUBSTANC3 | ah | 16:07 |
SUBSTANC3 | ok | 16:07 |
SUBSTANC3 | is the installation/partitioning process any different? | 16:07 |
SUBSTANC3 | because if it's the same, then it probably won't matter | 16:07 |
len-dt | The installer is the same either way. | 16:08 |
SUBSTANC3 | ok then | 16:08 |
SUBSTANC3 | live it is | 16:08 |
SUBSTANC3 | :) | 16:08 |
SUBSTANC3 | i was thinking | 16:09 |
SUBSTANC3 | could i boot the installer with virtualbox | 16:09 |
SUBSTANC3 | and somehow get it to install on my computer | 16:09 |
SUBSTANC3 | while runing windows? | 16:09 |
SUBSTANC3 | that might be a bit difficult | 16:09 |
len-dt | That would be beyond my knowledge | 16:09 |
SUBSTANC3 | but i could probably have the live cd be located in the actual virtalbox virtal partition | 16:10 |
SUBSTANC3 | and then tell it to install on my laptop | 16:10 |
SUBSTANC3 | but that might majorly screw stuff up | 16:10 |
SUBSTANC3 | heh | 16:10 |
len-dt | I just put my USB stick in and install it where I want it to go. I use the "something else" option when it asks where I want to install. | 16:15 |
len-dt | Anyway, I am going away for a bit now. Talk later. | 16:15 |
SUBSTANC3 | bye | 16:16 |
