[05:44] Hi) Does someone have problem with the installing of vcrun6? [05:44] In wine? [12:47] hi [12:47] anyone get ffado 2.1 compiled and working? [14:04] muzzol: do you think you need it? [14:30] I just tried installing ubuntu studio w/ a usb, and for some reason, even though we told it not to, it formatted the USB and promptly froze(the reason we knew it was formatted was that it didn't have a partition when I checked afterwords). I'm worred that it's going to do this to my windows partition, and I'm just wanting to confirm that it won't. [14:32] I'm using ubuntu via wubi right now, but it's not easy to set up all the production applications that I want to use, and I think ubuntu studio would be easier :) [14:46] SUBSTANC3, I don't know how you were able to do that. I have installed Studio many times, (3 times just in the past week for testing) and never had that happen. [14:47] len-dt: ok, then I probably don't need to worry, but I'll back up my project files and important data just in case. Thanks!! [14:47] Yes I would do that. [14:47] ;) [14:47] Also, is there a wubi for Ubuntu Studio? [14:48] That would be easiest. [14:48] So far as I know there is just the two ISOs one for live 64bit and one for live 32 bit. [14:49] You can run with the live ISO instead of installing too. [14:49] Meh, oh well. [14:49] There sould be one [14:49] I'd use it [14:49] But oh well [14:49] The problem is that my laptop doesn't have a cd drive [14:49] it's an ultrabook [14:49] that's also ultra compact [14:49] I think we would go for an alt first. There are really not that many of us doing things right now. [14:50] and they aparently didn't have room to put a cd drive :) [14:50] Heh, ok [14:50] I run on a netbook. Using a USB works nicer anyway. [14:50] ok, well i'll try the install again [14:51] and if i have any more problems then i'll post them as a bug [14:51] or something to that effect [14:51] probably i'll check back here first [14:51] :) [14:52] Sure. We are always open. there is not always someone to answer right away, but if the person is still on line we will when we see it [14:52] ok :) [14:52] Also, are you part of the project? [14:52] Yes. [14:53] Could you include LMMS? [14:53] I would find it useful if i didn't have to compile it :) [14:53] SUBSTANC3, respect len-dt, he is the most active dev around these days:) [14:53] That would take a book [14:53] lol [14:53] to explain that one. [14:53] ok [14:53] i'll just compile it then [14:53] not too hard :D [14:54] lol [14:54] The app that comes with US is qtracktor, but you don't need to compile LMMS it is available for install [14:54] sudo apt-get install lmms [14:55] It is, however, the latest build is version 10 [14:55] 0.4.10 [14:55] i'm working with .13 in windows [14:55] If we included it, it would be whatever is in the ubuntu repo. [14:55] and some of the mastering plugins that I use aren't in that version [14:55] ok [14:55] then dont include it lol [14:56] * len-dt is just checking what is there [14:56] Ya that is 0.4.13 [14:56] * smartboyhw is installing the package to see [14:57] len-dt, it is 0.4.10 [14:57] In the package. [14:57] ok [14:57] :D [14:57] Setting up lmms (0.4.10-2ubuntu1) ... [14:57] What ubuntu has depends on what the latest is in the debian [14:58] Ok, maybe I am seeing the kxstudio version [14:58] len-dt, you using kxstudio!? [14:58] is there a version of it that's compiled? [14:58] Though it does say Ubuntu Developers [14:59] .13 that is [14:59] I have the kxstudio repo set up on this machine [15:01] If you add the kxstudio repo (http://ppa.launchpad.net/kxstudio-team/ppa/ubuntu precise) I would guess that is where I get it from [15:01] * smartboyhw is using quantal sorry LOL [15:01] I might try that, although it might be easier to compile it [15:01] :) [15:02] * SUBSTANC3 is now afk [15:02] * SUBSTANC3 has work to do :( [15:02] thanks for the help :) === SUBSTANC3 is now known as SUBSTANC3afk [15:02] Ok [15:02] :D [15:05] * smartboyhw confirms that lmms .13 is used in kxstudio === SUBSTANC3afk is now known as SUBSTANC3 [16:05] len-dt: would it be easier to install it without booting to a live CD and just choosing the install option? [16:05] I'm using windows to format my partition [16:05] so all i have to do is create a new ext4 [16:06] SUBSTANC3, I always install from the live session, others install from the boot screen [16:06] ok [16:06] i'll probably do that then [16:06] when i was doing wubi, i created a seperate partition [16:06] so i'll just format that [16:07] I like to watch the output from /var/log/syslog while installing for test purposes and it is easier to do that from a live session [16:07] ah [16:07] ok [16:07] is the installation/partitioning process any different? [16:07] because if it's the same, then it probably won't matter [16:08] The installer is the same either way. [16:08] ok then [16:08] live it is [16:08] :) [16:09] i was thinking [16:09] could i boot the installer with virtualbox [16:09] and somehow get it to install on my computer [16:09] while runing windows? [16:09] that might be a bit difficult [16:09] That would be beyond my knowledge [16:10] but i could probably have the live cd be located in the actual virtalbox virtal partition [16:10] and then tell it to install on my laptop [16:10] but that might majorly screw stuff up [16:10] heh [16:15] I just put my USB stick in and install it where I want it to go. I use the "something else" option when it asks where I want to install. [16:15] Anyway, I am going away for a bit now. Talk later. [16:16] bye === L3G1TSW4G is now known as SUBSTANC3
